MUST WIN 4 POINT GAME -
This game worries me. Playing and beating 3 top 5 teams last week? No problem for the Sabres. Playing the Eastern Conference bottom feeder Penguins? Past me, as a jaded Sabres fan, already knows this outcome all too well. But this is a different team. They win games they maybe shouldn't and win games they should. So here's to Dahlin continuing his trajectory, here's to Jack going off on some goals tonight, and here's to Larsson, getting his first? Go Sabres.

Jack’s shooting % - Is it a problem?

Jack needs to score more on the powerplay. I'm fine with skinner potting all the 5v5 goals but the anemic power play is concerning. -

What a great win for the Sabres. Going into this stretch of games the general consensus was to get 4 of 8 points....which at the time seemed liked a tall order. Now we're looking to capture 2 out of the next 6 to hit the mark and my impression of that now is, "that seems low, let's get at least 4 of those 6". The game was pretty awful for the Sabres though. 2 shots in the second and 6 in the third will not often get it done but you can rely on your goalie to steal a game now and then, so hat's off to Hutton for tonight. The boys owe him one and hopefully they repay him immediately this weekend. Has there been any update on Scott Wilson? I often forget he's on this team nowadays. I imagine when he's healthy Tage will be sent back down to Rochester, taking the knowledge of how everything is done in the big leagues and will produce in the AHL. It'll be curious to see where Wilson slots in when he's healthy. Thankfully he won't be anywhere near the top line. -

Hoping for a quick strike by the Sabres in the third to push back against Tampa soon. I don't want them to let the Lighting work up momentum as the period wears on. -

Woof. That second period was not pretty, just the Sabres trying to weather wave after wave of Tampa possession. Alamo mode for 40+ minutes. Hopefully they can hang on. -

Love how undrafted EROD can handle 2nd line Center duty but our second overall pick who was drafted as a Center can't. What the deal with Sam? Will he be fine? -

This game is a true test of the team tonight. A divisional rival who hold the wildcard spot above ours? They've had a million days off, they better come out flying. I'm hoping this team can hold down a wild card spot through the first half of the season. Then Reinhart activates and we push into the top 3 teams in the division. -
I doubt our GM is hoping we are out of the playoffs by the trade deadline so he can trade away a player he just brought in via trade...for at least 2 different reasons

It's astounding that there are teams that will finish worse than the Bills.

It's good to see Peterman is getting his 5th second chance. also whose the back-up for when Mack breaks him in the 2nd quarter?

I googled it. You have to go into chrome settings, privacy control, content setting, and then notifications....talk about a rabbit hole. -

Off topic but does anyone know how to turn off Sabre Space browser notifications (I'm using chrome), I've somehow activated them by accident and they're driving me bonkers. I've gone into the notification settings and I see a green check box saying browser notifications are on but don't have the option to disable it. It's annoying to get pop ups saying so & so have responded to x. -

If those 3 don't play tonight do Ellie, Thompson and a Rochester call-up play? Wonder who'd get the nod. I'm guessing that all 3 won't miss the game. I wonder if Eichel has been fighting something? Feels like he hasn't scored in a few weeks. -

IF (never would happen) but if Edmonton put McDavid on the market, the return would be insane for him (players, picks, prospects) think the O'Reilly trade but on steroids. I imagine a blockbuster trade with him would have 3 or more teams involved, pretty much the biggest trade in the history of the NHL? I'd argue that Edmonton would be a stronger team with the return from McDavid, having better talent up & down their line-up making the team more competitive. Right now Edmonton is the McDavid show and that's why they still suck, because hockey is a team game and one player can't do it all. Yeah, O'Reilly is lighting it up in St. Louis, the few periods I've watched of them he's been noticeable, but that team is in the basement right now (and i hope it stays there). Moving him was a focus of JB this summer and he has an actual pulse on the locker room opposed to the hearsay that runs rampant here. There was a reason he was moved and that's what makes me believe in addition by subtraction. In my eyes, right now the trade is a wash and the balance hangs on what happens with that first round pick. Time shall tell. There were also concerns of Sobokta at 2C that are valid and unfortunately that's waiting game for when Mittlesatd is ready, which will take a year or so. -

Great win last night. I had hockey so I missed most of it and loved what I saw from the extended highlights...minus Scandella, hopefully he can put this one behind him and be better moving forward. I know its EARLY, but, is St. Louis' pick lottery protected? Because that's looking pretty, pretty good right now. -

I agree. Send him down to Rochester and put him on a wing opposite Nylander and tell them to make it work there so they can make it work in Buffalo. Does the team NEED to have 23 on the roster? When is Scott Wilson due back? edit: i googled it, he broke he needed ankle surgery and is expected to be out 8-10 weeks, so sometime in December. -

The feeling deep in my plums tells me Casey gets a goal tonight. I'm also hoping to see some more consistent offensive magic from Dahlin but I understand I need to be patient on him. Can the Sabres make it 3 in a row? In the past the team lacked the gumption to play consistent hockey for multiple games, is this team different? Will Housley dropping F-Bombs in practice motivate them to find that next gear and actually show up in the first period? I'm shocked the Canadian have gotten off to such a hot start, all the Canadian teams for that matter are exceeding where I thought they'd be (save Edmonton, losers). I thought Van, Ott, and Mon would be licking the floor of the basement but ~1/8th of the season in and that's not the case. -
I recall a time we felt giddy with O'Reilly - Eichel - Reinhart - X as our center depth.
