  1. When I read this I thought one thing... with regards to the work ethic Cozens had. No way I would give up Cozens... everything about him screams he has the right attitude for the game. And then this was posted... PLD is ROR. Perhaps he's not as talented, but I'm not interested in acquiring another Eeyore. People fawn over ROR constantly. They point to the SC he won when he left Buffalo. They completely ignore why that happened (it wasn't ROR) and they ignore his comments. They point to how he "lost his love of the game" and all that and attribute that to Buffalo. The dude lost his love of the game in Colroado as he forced his way out there. Now's the "C" in St. Louis and but for the fact that division is so weak the Blues would be near the bottom. He's going to lose his love of the game there as well. He thinks he means everything to a team and wants to be adored. He's a really good player, but his need to be loved is too great. It won't be long until he falls out of favor in St. Louis and we'll see the same thing happen again. Dude is tied for 10th with 7 other players on the Blues with 1 freakin point. PLD's antics in CBJ wreak of ROR. No matter how bad you want out you don't dress for a game and then pull the crap he pulled on the ice. As a teammate I would have dragged him all over the locker room for it. Glad he's not going to be the Sabres problem. Let the Jets deal with it. He is. I wonder if there's any chance the Sabres are considering some way to move salary to Arizona and in return take Hossa's contract? I honestly don't even know if its possible but perhaps the Coyotes want Okposo so he can play with Larsson? 🙂 (That's some delusional thinking right there). But with regards to the complications, trying to deal for a goalie on IR would fit the bill.
  2. You and I are watching two different teams out there. I see a team that is sloppy in its defensive zone and being forechecked all over the place. Their breakouts are predictable. Washington was standing on top of any player they were passing to last night. The only line Washington respected was the Eichel line. As soon as that line was out they switched into a defensive posture to slow the attack and counter. Other than that they were pushing our guys and winning puck battles. That's the other thing with this team, they don't win puck battles. There are a few players who have been tenacious, Olofsson and Cozens. They've had chances, and if they bury them it changes things, but they are giving up chances, bad ones. I'd be curious what the Sabres puck possession time would be if you removed the Eichel line from the mix. Certainly Dahlin is directly responsible for two of the goals last night because he's lost out there. That could change things, but good teams overcome that. Right now it's "ifs and buts".. neither of those have W in them. I'm certainly not losing my mind, but this team is not good right now. You're talking about potential but potential doesn't have a W in it. You know what does? Work and this team isn't doing enough of that right now.
  3. It's all designed to drive people to Peacock. USA is just the least failing NBC station so they'll use it as bait. I think i said it in the streaming Sabres thread. This year is the year that everyone gets punted to streaming services. Those who produce the content want to control the delivery, gather the ad revenue, the analytics, and certainly get paid for it. No more contracts to discuss on carriage rights. Give the success the NHL is having this season with announcers calling games while not in the building I would HIGHLY suspect that the NHL pulls back its streaming rights and begins to hire local camera operators and some local personnel in rinks and then uses remote announcers to call the games. Hell, they could go to an all remote camera operations crew if they wanted to. The technology is there. Then they control their whole product.
  4. Meh. I'm not even going to read the thread... I'm checked out on this team already. They look lost and disinterested out there a lot of the time. Sure they generate some chances, but not many. The D is shot. Glad Dahlin got screwed to the bench.. he can sit a few games. if he can't respond to that then ship him off. People will say that's drastic, but you know what? Sitting around waiting for potential is garbage. If he has issues right now, get him out of the lineup. Stop letting the fans see his issues manifesting themselves on the ice. He's responsible for this loss tonight. When you look more clueless around your own net than Ristolainen you know it's bad. I'm not gonna bother with the "if this or that". They didn't win. It's that simple. The only analytical stat I care about anymore is the winning percentage and is sucks, again, still, as always. F this team, the coach, and the front office. Because Mom always said end with a positive thought... here it is. I won't be paying for Fubo for the whole season!
  5. And the only response to that will be.. "W". Now... to lose to Chad Henne.. that would suck.
  6. His name suggests what to do with his content. So I do that. I skip it.
  7. An amazing game.. I spent much time playing it thoroughly and the Frozen Wilds expansion as well. Looking forward to the new one. Made some ramen tonight, went birding, took some photos, bought some beer, played some NHL21.... And now it's almost time to drink that beer.
  8. I'm not going to wade into too much yet. The team clearly needs work. But, Skinner deserves to be moved up and a few more offensive players need to be added to the lineup. The whole team needs a kick in the ass and they clearly are not in game shape given how dead tired they were near the end of the 3rd last night. I don't think they are alone in being out of shape but it doesn't matter. They are certainly not fun to watch, they play with no speed or creativity. If this is indeed what Krueger wants then I'm not going to be around for long.
  9. He'd probably be the first one to label himself that mayonnaise of comedians too. I like his stuff, but the world tour thing they did on Amazon or whatever was tough to watch. Got a little bit insulting to the cultures he was standing in front of in my opinion.
  10. I mean, I will absolutely willfully choose to not watch the game so I guess it won't matter if there is hockey or not at that point. And it's 100% this. You want to put ads up, superimpose them on the blue tarps sitting in the lower 100s just like baseball teams do with the signs behind the batter. Stop shrinking the screen.. it really does bother me and not just psychologically but physically when the screen moves like that trying to watch the game.
  11. He's been slow, grabbing opponents, missing pucks, making bad passes. I don't see that being on the coaches. He simply does not look good at all and I dare say he might be the worst player on the ice at the moment.
  12. I need to say one thing.. If placing ads on the TV is going to be the norm this season (and I am sure it is).. I'm not sure how long I can continue to watch. It annoyed me to no end each time the screen would resize just so an ad could be shown along the bottom and side (when they switched the sponsor next to the score panel). Ugh...
  13. Fubo streams the game at 720p and 60fps. I thought the quality is excellent last night. That's a 720p stream being sent to a HD output and then upconverted by my 4k TV and it looked great using my Firestick 4k.
  14. Yeah, but I mean all teams. Washington didn't look good last night but a few times at least their players seemed to know where the others would be on the ice. Buffalo looked straight out lost at times and I don't think it's just a lack of talent. I haven't looked at other teams to see if its isolated to the Sabres. Just a lack of any pre-season games might play into teams that have a more cohesive returning roster getting off to a quicker start than others. If they look this bad by mid-February I'll be saving money on my Fubo subscription. I love this team, but not enough to pay that much money to watch them lose. 🙂
  15. My hangover tells me that beers of sorrow is not worth it. I'm curious if the teams that have had more changes to their lineup will struggle early on as they adjust to gameplay and each other. I'm still glad we get to see hockey.
  16. At this point I see the argument about Skinner falling into two camps. Either you see what is wrong with Skinner and expect him to suck it up or You're his mother.
  17. It really boils down to this... Is my hangover tomorrow caused by: Beers of Joy Beers of Sorrow Either way, I'm ready... so ready...
  18. Stayed up last night to catch the first GDT. Went off to sign up for Fubo so I can watch this season and it was a little after midnight when I was done. Forgot to stop back here and just went to bed.... Doesn't matter.. @jsb rockin out a great start to the season with a killer GDT. I'll be parked in front of the screen with my reverse retro jersey on that my son bought me. I wish I had some idea of what to expect... but at this point I'm just happy that hockey is back!
  19. Being able to operate openly certainly allows for a certain speed to be achieved especially when the movement is young and hasn't had to hide itself. Now it does, but yes, over time I believe that the rally last Wednesday would have been just as large regardless of the platform they used to organize it. The only difference would be the difficulty intelligence agencies might have in discovering that the rally would occur and preparing for it. Not sure I am following your question. I'll take a stab. Eventually those who want to find information will. There are those whose interests are piqued enough by happenstance or simply because some algorithm thinks they might want to see some radical post that could pull them in. The latter is the what you hope shutting down social media accounts really impacts. But last summer I was getting Donald Trump ads on Youtube. Disturbing Trump ads no less that were clearly propaganda. That's the stuff you want to block because there is a decent contingency of people who will believe any well produced propaganda or at least will want to learn more and then might become a believer. But, by forcing the organizational groups underground you do make the infiltration of those groups easier. Given the current capabilities of these groups I'm not too concerned but it is inevitable that someone with the right charisma and intelligence rises to the top and can lead a group like this to be quite disruptive. You hope it doesn't happen... but history would indicate otherwise.
  20. Figured I should share this.. https://cardiaccane.com/2020/09/24/carolina-hurricanes-mike-maniscalco-to-officially-take-over-play-by-play-duties/ Mike is a Buffalo native. He went to Kenmore East. I knew him and his brother from attending at the same time and I met his future wife before he did when we both attended Geneseo. She's also from Buffalo. Williamsville East I believe? He beat cancer recently and took over PBP last year in the playoffs when Forslund stopped calling games. Looks like he did a bang up job and earned the job for this season. Pretty damn cool.
  21. Pretty sure it was @26CornerBlitz who had a ton of solid GDTs. There are many others who have done a bang up job as well.
  22. Hack? it could be difficult. infiltrate? easy. That said, this is the hard part about cutting off the open and easy access communication channels. Sure, by removing things like parler and other items it reduces the influence on the general public, but I'm convinced people will find the new encrypted sites just as handily if they go looking for it. Now it's just harder for the people who watch over them to gain access.
  23. Damn.. I posted this in the training camp before I saw you post it here. When I saw it the post had not attributed the original tweet it came from.
  24. They do, but MSG or the NHL keeps putting in rules that are tying their service to the "cable" company. I would really call it any service aggregator as that is what Fubo, Charter, DirecTV all are at this point. They are all about creating the packages that people want for a price that makes them money. It's going to continue to be ridiculous as each content producer finds their way in the world. We're seeing that happen right before our eyes with CBS All Access, Peacock, Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu+, Discovery+ (or whatever they are calling it). The NHL needs to adapt to this as well because MSG can't stand on its own. While people are cutting the cord not many are moving to YouTubeTV, HuluTV, Sling, Fubo, etc. because they are content subscribing to Netflix, Amazon, Disney, HBO, CBS, etc. I will be using Fubo to get the Sabres this year. Spectrum would charge me $12.99 broadcast surcharge and $8.99 set top box fees on top of all the regular programming charges. For the few months I need it I would rather pay slightly more to Fubo than pay $22 per month to absolutely ridiculous fees. You also get more from Fubo. Ultimately though, the NHL needs to shore up its NHL.tv product and make that unrestricted.
