Nice! Definitely interested in one or both games depending on schedules. During November it is likely to conflict with youth hockey season so I might have trouble there. later March is usually okay.

In so many cases it comes down not to skill and ability but effort and attitude. He seems to think the game should be handed to him. I have no doubt he's capable, but he just isn't willing to work for it.

Each of these guys has been in the league long enough to know who they'd want as a coach and in other positions they rely upon. I wouldn't worry about the time crunch. All of the Sabres scouting notes are available and the incoming guy (Botteril) will have the Pens notes as well. It's not like there are 250 new players they've never seen before that need to be evaluated.

The officiating in the playoffs is completely different. I really wonder how many of you will be able to survive it once the Sabres are involved. This place might have a mass funeral for all those who's heads explode. I don't like it.. I want to see hockey. It's clear to see the pace of the game is completely different. I'd like to see that pace without all the garbage.. that might be the best it could ever get.

My assumption is that they would not announce a hiring of Fenton or Botterill while their teams are still playing right? So, the decision may be imminent, but the announcement may not be soon.

I think they should hire whomever Bettman suggests. But only if it moves us into MFT status... or at least significantly closer. :)

I think any thing you try to do will harm the game even more. Let's be real. The teams that are successful now were bad for many seasons. It's not just 1 losing season and you recover. If you draft players and they turn out to not be the right group of players then you have to move them out. This usually happens after you fire a GM who will move them out anyway. It is what it is..

I know what people on here question. People on here question everything. In the industry he's long been regarded as a solid talent evaluator. The Lehner trade was a 1st round pick, I get that people are upset about that. The kid played well this year despite the crap D in front of him and clearly a team that was dysfunctional. The same can be said for Reinhart. There is all this discussion about how he's not being used right. If you accept that fact how can you accurately compare him to Draisaitl? His history with the Sabres isn't the only thing to be looked at. His history with Ottawa and the Ducks should also be taken into consideration.

Didn't know that... I am sure from a talent perspective they are still running the Murray framework. No one questioned his talent acquisition ability, it was his communication and organizational skills that got him canned.

Be curious to see how strong the USA Hockey ties are with whomever they hire...

It's a great move. The Genny Brew House is awesome in Rochester. They will turn out great beer at that location on their pilot system. The brewers at these companies know how to make beer. The investment only improve the Buffalo area.

Well... no, not really. Kodak lost track of its focus. It tried to become GE and ventured into everything and even though they could have led the digital camera revolution they were afraid of cannibalizing their film revenues. So they held tight to film and the rest is history. RIFs are almost always tied to earnings calls. Shareholders want to hear that a company identified a problem and has a plan to deal with it. If they were to have their earnings call and then say they were letting people go it would be a much worse situation.

Did they Google "Buffalo Sabres GM" too?
