Yes... I am too, when I look over at my email for a few minutes. ;) And that pass from Eichel to Beaulieu was one of those fantastic things Jack can do.... I am see a team that still some bad habits to break.. sadly a 2 week pre-season is not enough for that.

Yep.. that and I am streaming it in fantastic quality on my second monitor while I "work".

qwk - my point was the addition of subjugation to the name by Doohickie. Saying Happy Indigenous People Day would be a different context and would acknowledge those who were here originally. This would be akin to Canada's National Aborginal Day. I would be in full support of the United States creating this rather than Columbus Day no less. I think, for the purpose of supporting the concept, the answer is yes. Israel did not exist and was given to people. It is possible. Is it without massive, massive complications and consequences? Not a chance. Now.. with regards to the game. I saw that on Oct. 4th MSG released a statement that said Spectrum subscribers can get MSG streaming. I am streaming it right now from watch.spectrum.net. I am not sure about other cable providers being opened up but this is a huge step. Of course in order to stream it you have to be on your home network. It is not available for streaming outside your home.

I responded to a few in direct message but you have a very well thought out message here. I wanted to clarify and potentially put the conversation to bed so we can focus on the Devils... and I don't mean the white ones. My comment was not intended as a love it or leave it message. My question, perhaps better stated, is that if you are a white guy living on the land your ancestors helped take from the indigenous people and you begin calling out your ancestors for taking it, where does it begin to become a bit of a hollow sentiment from the indigenous people point of view? The idea was to make people think about what they are saying and how it can be viewed by others. If you continue to be here then you are, in some way, continuing the possession of the land. I can certainly say that if you were to leave the country you would be supporting your viewpoint. At the same time are there things that can be done with the acknowledgement of the past that might carry more meaning than just saying "Happy Indigenous People Subjugation Day." I realize the initial comment came across as casting judgment and it was not my intention. My intention was to stimulate thought about the statements being made relative to the where the statement is coming from. Let's talk about the Sabres.. And I am all in favor of eliminating "Columbus Day". It is a very stupid holiday.

You might be able to do it. I just did some testing and while my IP address was coming out of Rochester the MSG Networks were blocking me from MSG Go. I switched my IP to be NYC and it allowed me in and it appears as though it will work. So, I'm not sure what will happen for you when you attempt to connect to MSG Go. I'm not sure why MSG puts a region lock on their broadcasting, especially given that they cover the Sabres.

You word it this way and it suggests you feel strongly about what happened when the Europeans settled (invaded) North America. I have asked others who are not descended from the indigenous people of North America why they feel compelled to point this out. I listen to their response which usually falls into a couple of categories, all of which are pretty good. My next question is... if you feel that strongly about it, why do you continue to live here and further the oppression started by your ancestors? It's a bit hypocritical to call this subjugation out and then continue to live here and perpetuate it... isn't it? Of course I don't ask this of the people I know who are descended of the indigenous people of North America as their point of view is well supported. :) Just food for thought. Onto more pressing matters... The Sabres need to show in this game. Starting 0-2-1 or 0-1-2 would not reflect well. Certainly not the end of the world, but they need to inject some positivity into the season. Perhaps simply scoring a PP goal or two and NOT giving up a SHG will do that? Either way.. game on at 3pm.

So, your premise is that the Sabres orchestrated this. They had asked her to attend the anthem last year but she declined because she did not have the strength to stand. She worked hard so she could stand and the Sabres invited her back. Just because the rest of the country has gone bonkers over the anthem does not mean that this story line has to tie into it. I guess they should have not invited her because people might make more out of it than they should? So, then what? She works very hard to stand and then is not invited because people might make something out of it that is not there? Garbage. Hardly a moot point. Here's the coaching breakdown of the decision making process. My team has surrendered two short handed goals this game. We've not shown an ability to keep the puck in the offensive zone. If I pull the goalie there is a greater chance the opposition will score another SHG and then our ability come back will be severely hampered. My team has to show they can dominate 5 on 4. Moreover, we are already down 2 goals. Getting a SINGLE goal does not tie the game. Therefore, you don't pull the goalie. Johnson's save is only confirmation that Housley made the right decision. Okposo and Kane saving other opportunities are the icing on the cake.

Does it mean we can expect more out of you? If you want to completely put aside facts and logic and all that... Sweet... I get to take my kid to a few games this year then? Love it. He loves watching a hockey GAME. Who have they played? Yea.. thought so. The anthem nonsense? The Sabres have no control over the Islanders production. The fact that the wonderful lady felt the desire to stand for the anthem does not need to be a reflection on any political garbage being thrown around. She served her country. I would expect HER to do everything SHE can to stand and that's what SHE did. Housley not pulling the goalie was brilliant.. because Johnson made a save that would have been a goal had he NOT been there. They had already given up 2 SHGs in the game and have looked like crap on the PP. But hey, yeah, it would be smart to pull your goalie with 3 minutes left and allow the islanders an even better chance of throwing the puck down the ice or scoring on an open net when they broke out of the zone. If the Sabres could not score 5 on 4 with that lineup on the ice, they don't deserve to win. The 6th skater wasn't going to do crap. As it was, when he DID pull Johnson it took Kane and Okposo to keep the 6th goal out of the net. .

Trolls love an audience... If you ignore it, it doesn't exist.

Feeling pretty generous today eh? If May led his team anywhere it was to the booze in the locker room after the Cup.

No one is blaming the Penguins for doing it... leave Marty alone.

While I had hoped Housley would just name Eichel the captain it didn't happen. So what I hope for now is that part way into the season the teams or the other A's on the team approach Phil and suggest that they give Eichel the C. I think that would be awesome. Housley gave the team his short list.. let the players decide.
-
I'll miss a good portion of this game off at youth hockey. Go Sabres. I think the Moulson for Nolan allows Housley the flexibility to flip Moulson and Pouliot if need be. He knows what he has in Nolan. If Pouliot isn't performing then I would suspect Moulson bumps up and Pouliot slots down and then ends up sitting next game. Hopefully they come out flying again and take it to the Islanders. Lots of big scores early on in the NHL, be nice for the Sabres to have one (in for GF column).
-
Whereas... in the NFL.. the game captains rotate on a weekly basis. I think it's much ado about nothing. Should Eichel be captain? Absolutely. But they want to hold off... so be it.

Is the soldier also in on poorly attempting to market Tim Hortons like Duffer and Biron were?
-
Or Toronto who has all alternates.. or Carolina who has a road C and a home C who are not the same people. Making a big deal out of nothing. Eichel will eventually get the C because no one ever pays a guy that much money on any team and does not give him the C. It's that simple... they all know it. And even if someone else is a better leader they will still be a leader on the team without the C.

Lehner still sucks at the shootout
-
Oh no... No no no no no that did not just happen.
-
Opening night... There should not be this many Habs fans in the building.
-
This is the kind of pace that creates problems for the opposition in the second period.

Phil Housley says play with attitude. Risto hears you Phil.

Zemgus is going to get an illegal equipment penalty for that visor...
