I was mostly being silly. :)
But in general, I think there are a lot of people who strive to legislatively reduce the number of deaths by vehicle every year. In recent policy history one could list airbags, reduced DUI limits, seat belts, child safety seat legislation, tighter restrictions on who is allowed to operate a vehicle, pedestrian safe walkable zoning laws, and many more. I think there definitely is a strong policy push to reduce deaths by automobile. I think it's a faulty argument. I'd love to see guns controlled as tightly as the automobile is. Specifically as it relates to liability and insurance.
