    That's not how it works. The Sabres are the Sabres. The graph is like a box of cereal (pre-choking lawsuits and kid-focused marketing/obesity epidemic). The tank is the prize at the bottom. Only you can't just open the box upside down and get it out faster.

    I think it's contagious, and I don't think there are very many players who will be part of the process going forward who aren't already signed long term. Which is why Ennis and Stafford seem to be playing slightly harder than everyone else.

    1999-2007 drafts: First five forwards from each draft: 45 men have combined for 17,292 pts (average 384 career points each) All of the other forwards taken in the first round: 124 men have combined for 18,621 pts (average 150 career points each) The NHL amateur scouting departments are exceptionally good at identifying the cream of the crop forwards. After the first five are gone, it's a major crapshoot, even to get guys that are 60% as good as the top 5. Tank on.

    This is exactly why i think the tank will work for us. Our blueline is lightyears better than edmonton's right now. It will only get better as our stacked D-prospect list starts to mature. The only thing we're tanking for is goalscoring, and goalscoring is the thing that improves the most the further up the draft you go.

    The Fighting Irish just absolutely destroyed Boston College in the Hockey East Tourney, 7-2. best of 3, but a f'n fantastic start on the road.

    NE has not gotten over the final hurdle, but they were 1 or 2 wins away from being Champions in each of the last 3 seasons. Far better than Pittsburgh, and very nearly as good as they were in the early oughts.

    I'm not sure what you're getting at with this. Is NE in some sort of bad spot? NE has been in the Super Bowl more recently than pittsburgh. The have been in as many Super Bowls as pittsburgh in the last 7 years. They have also played in the last 3 AFC championship games. Getting there this year essentially ONLY with their legend QB and Genius Head Coach.

    I think an easy way to drive it would be to score the roster on cap hit. If you're icing a cap-floor roster the entire second half, you shouldn't be eligible for the top pick. Draft Talent is not why you suck, you suck because you have an AHL roster by choice.

    This is something I hadn't thought of before. But you are absolutely right. Even pittsburghs tank nearly cost them the team.

    I had to take a vacation day today because my landlord failed to live up to his end of our lease. 8 Inches of powder on top of 3-4 inches of hard pack snow/ice didn't get cleared until 11:00am. This after I specifically asked him yesterday to come out and take a look at the driveway in the morning to see if it needed to be cleared. He agreed to come out at 6:30. 3 of the 4 cars that share the house couldn't get out. Ugh.
