  1. This thread is driving me nuts. I keep typing up long winded responses and just delete them because discussing this in person is almost always futile, let alone an internet message board. Must. Resist. Typing.
  2. While i agree with you, i think the focus on the negative stems from the fact that to date, the sabres have never been good enough to win it all. You tend to focus on the bad when looking for improvement.
  3. If you live in the states, driving is the primary method of travel. There is no widely used high speed mass transit system here. Look at most of Europe, and thats not necessarily the case.
  4. Close, he's got the fastest three, Tyson Gay has the 4th and 5th fastest times ever. Then Bolt again. He set the world record in Berlin back in 09 if i remember correctly.
  5. There's a 100% chance that I will have no idea what you're trying to insinuate 87.4% of the time.
  6. I actually watched it last night as well. Not a great movie but it has its funny parts. The Russians might be my favorite part of the whole movie.
  7. Because completely shipping out every name in the locker room doesn't usually work out so well. Pommer, Miller, and Vanek are all solid pieces IMO, moving Roy and Goose was a huge wake-up call. If this season doesn't turn out well, i wont be surprised to see those 3 moved as well.
  8. I don't look at it as rebuilding. I liken it more to what Philly did last off season. Some big names got shipped out and the reigns were handed to the youth.
  9. I like this roster right now for one huge reason. Youth. Darcy has acknowledged a few times now that the old guard wasn't getting it done. He's essentially surrounded a new youthful core with a solid group of gritty character guys. He's not necessarily trying to replace the scoring we lost with Roy, so much as he is trying to shape the character of a young locker room IMO. I think we're set up pretty nicely going forward. Darcy is only going to make a move if it makes sense, and i think he feels comfortable that most of the young guns can make some significant strides over the course of the next two seasons.
  10. Thats a pretty solid question. Idk if i'd say most people would do it though. If i could come back? Definitely. But the whole one way things adds a huge dimension to that question IMO
  11. No kidding? I had no idea there were any OHL teams or canadian juniors teams for that matter, in the states. I thought the USHL was the best we had. Then what are we waitin for! Regarding and arena, I think they could make use of either the proposed practice facility of the arena. Having both would be a convenient thing. If the fans are over capacity at the auxiliary rink, send em to the Fn'C
  12. I cant really figure out how to word it. Basically what I'm saying (really really watered down version) is that its a hockey team in canada, so I'm sure they draw a respectable crowd.
  13. When you consider that the countrys population is below 40 million it does seem like an odd location, but then you have to consider that a large portion of that number lives relatively close to the border. I'm sure they draw adequate numbers.
  14. I'd heard the stories.... but i had never actually seen the beast!
  15. I have no source for this, but having that capacity gives you some options, Maybe we want an OHL team or something in the long run. Gives some colleges in the area a place to play home games, facility for team related activites. Just because it can be used for Pee Wee practice doesnt mean thats the only reason you build it. Im not sure 2000 seats is really any cause for concern
  16. With Regher and Weber (can we put mcCormick in goalie pads?)
  17. Is that proposal suggesting we completely decomission the highway as a traffic bearing roadway? Or just add pedestrian functionality and an asthetically pleasing (at least better than is right now) facade to an already existing highway? If that thing ever goes through, it could become one of those iconic buildings you associate with their cities IMO
  18. I was at the F'n center for the dorsett fight. That was awesome live. Watching that fight again really makes me glad we re-upped patty. Having him and ott on the team is going to be an awesome thing
  19. I liked kalinin better as well. Im on my phone so I cant look it up at the moment, but I think detroit had either datsyuk or zetterberg in a late round that year. But hey, at least peters is good on hockeytalk...
  20. Thats funny, its also what you're known for. As for taking away credt, are you f'n Kidding me? Since when did taking the best available guys become a bad thing? There really is no pleasing you sir. So what exactly would you have done differently, he took in his opinion the best available players that also happened to be players who will fill a position we lack depth in. I cant wait to hear this. Did we have a first that year? I may be confusing that with our first overall selection that year. Thats odd I could have sworn he was taken in the first round. Thanks for correcting me though blue
  21. We used a first round pick on andrew peters... I think finleys size alone makes that a better pick than us taking peters. Its a shame too, if you look at his draft class we really passed on some solid players. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20
  22. Now i'm just nitpicking, but his name is in fact, on the cup.
  23. I yearn for the days where i could give a plus 1
  24. Since theres nothing written directly in this article and therefore im not allowed to call it a rumor ill just post here: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/hockey/2018783532_hockey27.html Basically a story about bringing a franchise to seattle. Im wondering if anything gains any traction on that front does phx become the number 1 franchise you try to pull out for seattle?
  25. No need, we just blow a whistle and pull a herb brooks. "Again".
