  1. Love the composition of the soldiers this year, some solid guys with some players poised for big jumps as well as a few gambles. Should be a fun year
  2. holy ######, first pick overall... i was hoping i wouldn't have to make this decision lol. Last year i had back to backs with picks 8 and 9 so this draft should be VERY different. Draft room is now live FYI.
  3. I got a copy of 100 things for xmas, it's a solid read. I'd recommend it for younger fans such as myself though. It serves as some solid insight if you havent been around the team for it's entire history. It's easy to pick up and put down at a whim as well, as each "thing" is typically no more than one page front and back.
  4. He's a big boy, and had some decent penalty minutes last year. I was under the impression he played more of a power forward role. If that's true that's something we sorely need. Especially considering hes averaged high 40's in points the last few seasons. it would certainly help fill Roys missing production. Understandable, and i'd agree with that too. Maybe the most enticing player we could offer would be reji, and i'm not entirely sure i want to let him go just yet. Even if we did, i doubt that'd be enough. So then what kind of players would you target for this season? If a trade involving a d man does go down (which im convinced needs to happen) do you go for picks or do you try to get a complimentary piece that fits right now?
  5. Just a quick question, is Philly's d situation still looking kinda so so? and if it is are they a possible trade partner? I'd really like to see a play made for voracek but i havent seen enough of him in philly to really get a gauge on what it would take to get him out of there.
  6. i find this hilarious. Blow Leafs Blow!
  7. Got my account up and running again, if theres still room just PM me the password and i'll join. Thanks! Edit: Nevermind found the invite from back in August to join so I'm all set and ready to go! (assuming this gold league is the same gold league?)
  8. If you need a team I will join, just need to know what time on the 14th the draft will be. I may need to make a new yahoo account so ill get on that shortly and let you know.
  9. Tropp is a high energy guy with some presence around the net, he can also do this:
  10. I agree with that, but from the short glimpse we saw of him he has EVERYTHING i want in a team captain. Drive, hustle, grit, he does so many little things right. As for Tropp, i think some of you are selling him short. The kid was poised for a serious season in rochester this year before his injury IMO. I'd much rather have him than mccormick or ellis on the team. God it feels great to be able to talk about this stuff again
  11. Any idea why they can't they get a vote until then?
  12. I think pommer retains the C, as for the A's, i know it won't happen but Foligno needs one. If he keeps up his style of play that he had on the big club last season, he's the natural successor to pommer for the C.
  13. I've been to about 5 games myself. Kid really doesn't stand out that much and i've made a point to look for him. He has shown flashes, but that's what they have been, flashes. You can tell he's got heart, i always see him rushing back to get to defensive assignments. He's not the fastest on the ice but he tries for sure. Just his sheer size and apparent drive make me think he's gonna start making a difference sometime in the next two years, but being as young as he is in the league as it's composed right now is a tall order IMO. I think he'll start improving once he stops getting juggled all over the lineup personally. If there is an NHL season, i think the opening spots might be a good thing for him.
  14. My house back in Buffalo got looted over winter break, and to make matters more interesting my landlord suppossedly "knew" about a broken window and damaged interior doors a few days after myself and roomates moved out. However, he didn't feel the need to inform us whatsoever, rather he just let his handymen do repairs. What's more, after i discovered the looting had occured when i went to check on things january first, he made no mention of the suppossed broken window when i was talking about contacting police. Today he finally mentions it. Somethings not right here.
  15. same. dont think i ever even registered this year. I'd prefer to defend my title in gold the next full season.
  16. If anyone caught his goal in regulation it was pretty sweet, dish from Cody to the left side where Brennan was and BOOM top shelf.
  17. See, i keep thinking like this, but then i remind myself that these clowns are in fact NOT the NFL, or the NBA, and that if they were, we would currently be evaluating the sabres season so far.
  18. The reason doesn't matter, Hockey still has to compete with it. John Adams is right. It's so infuriating how incredibly short sighted both sides are.
  19. Are the implications of that outcome simply monetary? or would that mean the league in it's entirety would no longer hold rights to players? i.e. Vanek Hodgson and Ehrhoff are no longer sabres whenever the lockout ends, and are in fact free agents?
  20. Might be the most outrageous thing I've ever seen posted on here, and that's saying something.
  21. That's awesome. hopefully we get a little soundbite or synopsis of that "conversation" at some point!
