I think Boterill has been just as bad with not much better results. Murray at least tried to be awful andhad about the same success as Botterill (who has tried to be good).

I think I would be fine with this approach until 2020. I really do think that Casey, Tage, and Cozens will be the major factors as to if this team can ever get to the next level.....and stay there. FAs will only get us so far....

I know I am guilty of talking about how important it is to upgrade the bottom 6, adding a #2 Center, as well as a couple top 6 wingers (hopefully oloffson and 1 more). What may be overlooked is how this defense is shaping up with speed and skill. Could management be looking at just this year as a time when the D is moving the puck so well that the whole offense kicks in because of it? Skinner, Eichel, Reinhart, Olaf and 1 more FA winger may be all they need this year as they wait for Cozens to fill that #2 spot next season. Casey slides into the #3 spot next year as well (and hopefully this year too). My point is that maybe for just this year, they have a vision that may work with proper goaltending, upgrades with bottom 6 and revamped D. It could very well get them through to 2020 when they can fill in the last of the pieces they need?

The good news is that The East is extremely top-heavy with Boston Toronto Tampa. The bad news is that all three of those teams are in the division. If Buffalo was in the Western Conference, they would have zero chance at making the playoffs at number eight. In the East, I would say they have about a 10% chance

That roster belongs to one of the five worst teams in hockey. There is absolutely no way that they could put that on the ice. If JV is on the top line for the season, they have already conceded to a lottery pick and probably top 5 overall

Bottom six will change, a top 6 winger will be traded for, and then we pray for better goaltending this year. This is all I expect for the offseason.

Our number 2 was just drafted and no way Risto brings back a number 2 in a trade. Our true number 2 will be here next Summer....

Rochester will be getting most of the action today and that is fine. Sabres are not in a position to be good this year but I firmly believe that 2020 is the year we have been waiting for.....it stinks but that #2 Center needs some time in our system. Just fix our crappy bottom 6 so we are watchable again.

That should just about do it for all of the big-name contracts that will be given out. I am so glad that buffalo did not get involved in any of them and just hope that there is a good trade in the works.

Give me Dzingel and some bottom 6 shake-up and I could call it a day in FA. He is the one I really want. I don't think they are going after a #2 center in FA (unless it is a #3 center that they slot in at #2)

5 years for Zucc has got to be a joke. This is where it scares me having a GM who may be on the hot seat. I could see him doing something stupid like this to save his butt knowing that he won't have to worry about it 5 years down the road.

I guess what I am saying is blow up the awful bottom 6, add a reasonable 2nd line winger, but don't go blowing 9 million and 7 years on some 2nd line center you may regret big-time. Our 2nd line Center is already in the system and you then fill out the wings when ready.

I think the best plan is to suffer one more year and not panic to add some top free agent. This team needs a year to figure out players like Thompson, Mittle, Olaffson, goalie, and Nylander. Hopefully by 2020, Cozens is the #2 center and Mitts is the #3. I don't see any legit #2 center being on the team this year unless Risto is involved in some sort of trade. I absolutely hate that this team probably blows again but I just don't see any other path as it stands now. I would be beyond ecstatic if they could stay within 5 points of 8 this year from start to finish.

Risto will not be traded for anything less than a #2 center and that will probably not happen. No way our GM botches a trade so close to the O'Reilly mess
