  1. I seem the recall that Baptiste and Nelson were moved on paper on trade deadline day to Rochester's roster and then immediatley moved back to make sure they were eligible for the playoffs. No record of it I can find, but it was mentioned in official tweets.
  2. Johnson as a backup doesn't bother me. But if Ulmark stumbles, I'll want more than Chad Johnson in the fold. I don't need to see Lehner next season. We are in goalie purgatory right now, I guess.
  3. Pan fried grouper fillet with a brown butter sauce, barley risotto with roasted garlic and lemon and a drizzle of white truffle oil, and broiled asparagus with grated parmesan. The risotto was a garlic bomb. I roasted a head of garlic until the cloves were soft, sticky, and caramelized. I put 3 cloves of it in the risotto. I could have gotten away with just one. There was nothing subtle about the garlic flavor in the risotto. I will be sweating garlic tomorrow. Subbing barley for rice has become my favorite way to make risotto now. And it is healthier as well. *urp
  4. No idea. I'm not a TBN subscriber. I get tidbits as they show up on Twitter. I suppose if Pham or Harrington said it along the way it would've been dismissed anyway. Vogl has about as up and up rep as there is in Buffalo sports news.
  5. I guess it comes down to trust in Vogl as a professional
  6. It's kind of like the evidence we didn't have implicating Bylsma's system. If they never play what they are asked to be played, we can't know what the instructions were.
  7. Now, Poulliot is a vet that could def be going through the motions. He's been shipped around alot and has a rep.
  8. I could def see Risto being a player that isn't listening. His play has degraded so much from where he was projected to be. And he seems very prone to really stupid on ice plays. Way below where he should be given his skill set.
  9. Well, the Vogl article came out this morning, so there is still some serious issues with not listening to the coach. I don't know how you can suggest that ROR is not playing with drive. Or KO. And Bogo hasn't been in a practice or game in a long time, so I'm not sure where he is influencing anything right now. The idea that its the vets that are floating doesn't really hold water IMO. Yes, please.
  10. Who are the vets without drive? There are plenty with degrading ability. But I'm not seeing vets that don't have drive. As the Vogl article mentions, the biggest challenge has been getting the kids to respect and listen when the vets have a diminished abilities. The kids aren't all right. Then I mistook your post. Re-reading with new context, yeah, those are the likely targets.
  11. We don't have depth. We don't even have a top 6.
  12. No doubt in my mind that jack was a big part of it. My suspicion is that he still is to some extent.
  13. I don't get paid to find and attract these players. Botteril does though. I don't care if it is hard to do. I expect the GM of the team I root for to figure it out. Kids aren't going to figure it out for themselves.
  14. I think it is an absolute necessity. I'd say we need more than one. Vet. Winner. Leader. Find those players and plug them into the 2018-19 roster thread. I also wouldn't give Jack the C until the demons are fully exorcised, which to mean means when this team is established as good and consistent again.
  15. None of them are worthy of being entitled. Noone on this team has won a damned thing to be able to say they know better.
  16. I still think that the greatest error (besides losing on purpose for 3 years, of course), was not having a bunch of vets that would force respect in the locker room when the #tankprizes showed up. TM attempted that to some extent, but he mostly chose vets from losing organizations that weren't exactly 1st tier guys to begin with. The problem wasn't trading assets for vets, the problem was selecting vets that didn't command respect. Brian Gionta was the only winner in the group that was here. There needed to be more. And I think this will continue to be a struggle for these guys in seasons to come. The stink of being coddled early is difficult to wash off. I wouldn't be surprised if they can't crest the hump at all without an influx of veteran leaders. I don't know why it wasn't more expected. We gave a couple of 18-19 year old kids the key to the franchise.
  17. Good article by John Vogl implicating the players as not listening to their coach as the crux of the problem. I don't need to see this roster re-shuffled. I need to see it replaced. http://buffalonews.com/2018/03/02/inside-the-sabres-it-comes-down-to-a-matter-of-respect/
  18. Agreed. That line up is basically a shuffling of the deck. I need to see some serious roster turnover that doesn't include a bunch of middling prospects who haven't shown anything yet.
  19. Puck luck meets structured work. Im not buyingit over a season series with two of the leagues elite teams.
  20. Zemgus back on the dot. Dude is a utility infielder now.
  21. Not consistently though. Look at our seasons series with both teams. Thats not any given Sunday stuff.
  22. The labor gifts are delivered weekly. :)
