  1. Hopefully this will give everyone, players, coaches, fans that one more reason to work just a bit harder. But God I'll miss RJ, he spent enough time with all of us Sabres fans to feel like at least a good friend. Now to distract myself....
  2. RIP to the voice in my head when I think hockey highlights. I had really hoped the Sabres would get to the playoffs this year and give him a chance to announce another playoff game but I guess he’ll watch from heaven with Ted Darling
  3. I’ll always leave a chance for Patrick Kane playing here at a vet minimum if we end up hitting an injury bug in Jan/Feb He’s no where near the player he once was and plays little defense but it still would be kinda cool from a fan standpoint to see the hometown superstar kid play a short time for his hometown. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to get him to replace anyone if you get the idea
  4. Quite the way with words you got there
  5. None of the above
  6. Peterka definitely strikes me as the overly talented 3rd line winger whom only great teams have. A player who could be a 2nd liner many places but due to depth is on the 3rd line eating lesser competition for breakfast. Simultaneously however Peterka may also be end up like Chris Kunitz who was a 2/3W who played on the top line due to his great chemistry with Crosby. (Peterka to Quinn in this case)
  7. But that isn't how you manage assets well You don't let young players walk in order to keep older players unless you are a Cup contender. If its close, I can't with good conscience just play "who cares" for that situation.
  8. I would presume that UPL's waiver status has a lot to do with the lack of additional competition. Effectively its Levi's job to lose and as long as UPL beats out Comrie we'll have no roster problems. Where issues arise is if Comrie plays better than UPL since we can't conceivably waive UPL without a high likelihood of losing him.
  9. 1. Toronto 2. Boston 3. Philly Those three are my most hated teams to be honest and I wouldn’t be able to give my all for any of them as such. 4. Montreal (but only if I have multiple years on my deal) Would waive if it’s a rental situation just to play for the storied franchise. Can’t speak French. 5. Winnipeg - so very very cold, would waive as a rental 6. Arizona - it’s just a convoluted mess 7. Ottawa - I’d want to see their new ownership in action before playing for them 8. Seattle - the state is a mess 9. Vegas - would waive for rental but they treat players like disposable tools 10. Columbus - purely due to Babcock; otherwise would be fine HFBoards had a similar thread so I'll just take my answer from there.
  10. Sure if they take back Comrie
  11. The issue effectively comes down to you will 99% lose that trade. You never see goalies traded for top tier prospects.
  12. Sickening to hear; may he rest in peace
  13. One would assume it has to based on how high they were last year. Even getting 100 points would be considered a major downfall
  14. Post on Twitter was from last offseason. I do have good faith in sources that have said Wheeler was a problem in WPG. Mark Schiefle has also been pointed to as an issue multiple times over the years. Best example might be his hit on Evans in the weird COViD season playoffs. A leader or face of the team type player doesn’t do that type of thing. The perfect example is how Steve Ott changed his persona on the ice somewhat when in a leadership role here. Playing dumb isn’t on a leader’s job list. Evander Kane obviously butted heads with leadership in WPG as well in a much more demonstrative fashion than he did anywhere else. If I had to guess, Andrew Ladd kept a lid on some of the more negative practices. Byufliegn wasn’t a classical leader but still had clout while being more lax as a leader. His retirement seemed to of set WPG down an ugly path culturally to the point their coach resigned and culture woes became somewhat commonplace in relation to WPG
  15. I think he’s a good defenseman but not really a Norris candidate. I’ll re-evaluate after next season but good Dmen do occasionally have great seasons due to surrounding factors
  16. Only issue is Calgary has zero interest in Joker or UPL and little interest in Olofsson which effectively kills the idea. I'll stick with more or less what we have now Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mitts - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Krebs - Savoie/Kulich/Tatar(PTO>Contract) Olofsson - Girgensons - Okposo Muel - Dahlin Power - Clifton Joker/Stillman - Johnson Levi UPL Extras: Stillman Jost Bush Comrie and Bryson are waived
  17. I can’t quite tell if you like or dislike the idea
  18. Supposedly TSN says we kicked tires on Petry
  19. In all honesty, I'm really hoping we give a PTO at least to Tatar or Suter so we have a back up plan if Kulich and Savoie aren't ready yet. With Tatar I'd go Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mitts - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Krebs - Tatar Olofsson - Girgs - Okposo Jost as #13 You give Olofsson the Krebs treatment with two workman players along with PP time.
  20. At that point we are at impasse that won't change, and Im ok with that
  21. I would of told the Jets to shove Helle and smoke it if they asked for Levi +
  22. Supposedly he lost his offensive flare due to a shoulder injury and while his defense has improved he was a ?? for Wild fans.
  23. I doubt that was Dumba's ask on July 1st or even July 20th. Effectively he ended up dealing with what Klingberg did last year
  24. I agree up to a point; essentially I won't trade Savoie/Kulich/Benson for a rental. But I certainly agree with the idea they need playoff development now.
  25. Maybe it will slow it in 2 years but this upcoming year it jump up since it’s been kept low artificially
