The worst Buffalo can do is 3-0-1 and make the playoffs still. FLA faces TOR and CAR which bodes pretty well in our favor. NYI plays WSH and MTL, not great PIT plays CHI and CBJ, a literal joke. Now technically we only need 2 of the 3 to trip in order to sneak up in with a sweep.

To be honest, I love watching Toronto jump through hoops

Carolina’s D is literally suffocating us. -

Thompson's injury is preventing him from taking Faceoffs -
I'll give Levi a mulligan on the 1st GA since it ramped off Tuch's blade and rose quickly. Besides the 6th GA he was mostly a victim of bad luck and a couple terrible gaffes defensively and one super play by Larkin.

Looked like Bush got a tiny amount on it

There isn’t exactly a Walmart for Top4 D that KA can merely walk in and pay for. I think he understands there’s an issue with our current Defense. Last year he brought in Lybushkin, this year he brought in Stillman and targeted Chychrun. He is specifically looking for bigger more defensively skewed Dmen that fall within a certain age group. He gave Bryson a chance along with Fitzgerald, Pilut and Clague and none of them truly picked it up and ran with it. Bryson is built like an offensive defenseman but rarely generates offense and is physically overwhelmed in our zone. Pilut is very much Bryson 2. Fitzgerald was meant to be our RHD depth but the freaking Panthers stole him to only sit in their press box. Clague has been good for spells like the others but is terribly inconsistent in general. As such he acquired Stillman for his size and potential to fight for the 3LHD spot and depth. And targeted Chychrun to better fill the Top 4. This tells me that he very well May of hoped for a Defense of Dahlin, Samuelsson, Power, Chychrun, Jokiharju and Lybushkin with Stillman and Bryson as extras. Clague being waived and then brought back up after the roster opened.

Heartbreaking way to more or less end the season; came out strong but between the offside goal and the 5 straight special teams situations it sort of played right into the hands of the more experienced team. BS interference call with a lucky bounce gets them tied. Sabres were mediocre at best in the 2nd The 3rd was Florida for 1 minute where they got their goal and then we slowly tilted the game to a degree but sticks were tight and FLA was allowed to play interference. In the end Levi did great which is a great sign for the future. Thompson's injury seems to be throwing his timing off a tad and lessening his ability to move. He seems to be like an avalanche that needs time to warm up for a few games before getting into TNT mode. Well, go sweep the rest of the year boys and maybe you can get a miracle.

Something about Leia mouthing hope and Hoffnung being the translation is hilarious.

Rather not let them get a point lol

Mitts has definitely changed my mind from him being a bust to that of a talented but flawed player. Either through Granato's coaching or his own maturation Casey has truly come to embrace being more of a role player. He'll never be some Top 6 superstar but he can certainly become a high end 3rd line winger with the talent to spot fill the Top 6 as needed. I'd still give Mitts a bit more credit but mostly agree. It does take talent to even be able to be elevated when you're talking top line play. Essentially both Mitts and Krebs have seemed to embrace a bottom 6 role and have become solid players as a result.

Just keep going guys; fight to the end regardless the situation. -
As always every team we need to lose finds a way to win regardless. Ottawa blows a 3 goal lead after dominating Philly and wins on the goalie giving the puck to their guy. Feels like every team plays us like their life is at stake but anyone else, eh.

My Take on B&G Insights with Kevyn Adams - 03-28-23

It would come down to if KA and his guys feel Orlov is still holding steady or in the decline. Furthermore what is his contractual demands. -
Tanev would be my 1st choice with Hanifin coming shortly behind. Tanev is a RHD vet who's a Defensive Defenseman; literally what the Doctor ordered.

All I see here is more of his typical talk about staying patient and building the "right" way. I don't think he means waiting for 2025-26 to go to the playoff however. I take it as him stating he doesn't want to make moves that will actively be a detriment to the team in 25-26. For instance throwing 8mil per year at a 30+ year old for 7 years. The player may help us now but would, by year 3, be actively hurting the team in some regard. In some ways its akin to trying to cause a snowball to roll down hill until it becomes practically unstoppable. There is a point somewhere on the "graph" in which the number of prospects likely to make the NHL becomes strong enough to take from both via trade and for replacements without exhausting the supply Year 1.

Yes, unsure what exactly “it” truly is but he seems to have this aura of confidence that doesn’t turn into ego. He knows he’s good but also knows he can be even better.
-
I’ve read Gavrikov isn’t good, more akin to a Gudbranson than a Samuelsson
-
Losing sucks however, Dahlin on that OT PK probably played on of the best shifts I’ve seen out of any Dman in years.
-
Thompson will play if he's able to gut through it; literally an article just came out about it this morning. Doubt he does practice however the rest of the year.

Asset management also has a place; spending large gobs of assets to get 8th place and get rocked by the Bruins only to lose those rentals makes zero sense
