  1. The one problem I saw was that he supposedly nixxed a trade this past deadline to go to a contender because he wanted to stay in MIN. Now maybe Adams can convince to his former teammate to do him a solid and come to Buffalo and try and herd the cats the Sabres have become. The other problem I foresee is that he hasn't been a center in a couple years now.
  2. https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/340869?post_id=1546541 This is what I came up with
  3. Trading Reinhart for Boeser accomplishes nothing; its like replacing a sliver fork with a gold fork and claiming we've made strides. Boeser only has two more years on his contract as well. 8th OA for me, at least, is being saved for a 2C or a draft pick and nothing else. Benning supposedly has shown interest in Risto in the past; I'd look to pair him with a non-Cozens prospect to get Boeser and Sutter. It would save Vancouver some cap space for Markstrom. It would, in the end, hinge on if Benning would like Risto seeing as his RD's will presently be a 30/31 year old Tyler Myers, RFA 26 year old Troy Stecher and LDs filling in. (Tanev's contract is through and he's also 30 now too)
  4. - I became a fan when I was about 7 years old. My great-grandparents had season tickets and my Dad and I would take them to about half their games. My first real memories of hockey were of that 99 playoffs in which I went to a game in the 1st and 2nd round; remember watching one of the Leafs' series games at my grandparents and desperately trying to stay up during Game 6 of the Finals only to conk out by the end of the 2nd OT. I was completely distraught the following morning upon seeing my Dad hadn't woke me up to see the Sabres winning goal replayed in OT. I got to go to somewhere between 15 and 21 games in 2000-2001 and by then I had become rather hooked. My great-grandparents passed away in 2002/4, Hasek left us, and between those and the 05 lockout I actually lost interest for some time before the 05-06 team got me right back into it again. -My favorite players would be Hasek and Drury. The Dominator was incredible to watch with his sprawling saves and clutch performances. When he left in 2001 I was heartbroken. Chris Drury was another player I really loved; he was everything I loved about hockey and sports in general. He was good at everything but not elite; he was clutch, he wasn't a fighter but wasn't a wimp either, you could put him out there in any situation. His clutch play also resonated with me as I personally was rather clutch in baseball and flag football during that time. He was kind of what I wanted to be if I were a hockey player, someone who wasn't the best but had such dogged determination that he came out on top more times than not. Again when he abandoned us I was badly hurt and my interest wavered some. -Best moments, working my middle school dances on the nights of the high score Sabres-Sens playoff game and the following year the Drury goal against the Rangers. For the former, myself and one other guy kept bugging the DJ to find out the score which kept changing. For the latter I was 8th grade class treasurer, wasn't a fan of most of the music, and the class president was busy with his girlfriend so I took up residence at our little snack shack and listened to most of the game on a radio. The goal was when we were just finishing cleaning up and most of us gathered around the radio and when the goal was scored we all yelled so loud my ears stopped registering it. I'll never forget that. Another great moment was winning the Dahlin lottery, felt so happy to finally for us to win something. Most frustrating has to be all the common ones like NoGoal, Drury and Briere's departures, Hasek's departure, losing the McDavid lottery, feeling so torn about the tank that it actually made me stressed, all these god awful seasons where we spin our wheels. - Everyone by now knows how I would fix the team so I'm going to rehash it all. ? Other than that I would hire myself to work with the team seeing as I have the education and such and would love the opportunity to help the team succeed either on the hockey or business side. There is so much the Sabres could do in terms of marketing like uniforms that they seem incapable of either seeing or unwilling to do.
  5. Sounds legit, I do think Bettman may regret it a little nowadays since it never really fixed Dallas's fan problem but I don't doubt the league wanted Dallas to end up winning.
  6. Would anyone trade Montour for Tierney? Regardless of Cirelli or another 2C we could certainly use a solid 3C with a bit more scoring touch than Larsson.
  7. Hell no, McDonough was awful last year and is under contract until 38 and Johnson hasn’t been a 2C in 4 years. Taking on 13mil for two mediocre players is what we don’t need.
  8. aah Well I doubt anyone can beat the 8th Overall pick without legitimately shooting themselves in the foot. Essentially a team would have to offer a cheap 2/3C NHL player and most teams can't exactly afford that. Essentially you end up with Tampa wanting a cheaper player in the NHL but with so many teams at the cap they will have a nearly impossible time accomplishing it.
  9. Wouldn't give them Joki, Mitts and our 1st sure and maybe a lesser prospect but they ain't getting our future partner for Dahlin
  10. At very least offersheeting Cirelli at 5x6.1mil could serve either as a noose or a springboard. A noose as if TBL matches they will have under 2mil in cap space to sign Sergachev and Cernak. Yes, they can go above the cap approximately 90 mil until the season starts but that puts them in an extreme bind. Almost every player on their team has a NTC or NMC, meaning if they don't want to leave; they can't be traded. With a flat cap being in effect; matching Cirelli puts them in quite the predicament. There are not many teams that could absorb one of their players without retention even for nothing in return. Palat 5.3mil x 2 29 yrs old Gourde 5.16mil x 5 28 yrs old Johnson 5mil x 4 29 yrs old Killorn 4.45mil x 3 30 yrs old All of them have NTCs and only Killorn has maintained his contract's value. McDonagh has 6.75mil x 6 31 yrs old (he too has a NTC) Tampa has no 1st this year to use as sweetener and obviously their 1sts in the future are more like glorified 2nds. With only 6 mil to work with for all 3 plus a couple depth positions I cannot imagine how they will achieve this. Killorn and Palat might garner interest but in both cases they are making good money and already have NTCs. Johnson and Gourde are close to unmovable if the players put their feet down as both are overpaid badly and will be 33 by contract's end. McDonagh is untradable..... he'll be 37 by the time his nearly 7mil contract ends. If you go on CapFriendly and make a Lightning team you start with 5.33mil in cap space. If Cirelli makes 6mil, Sergachev 5.5mil and Cernak 2.4mil(on a bridge) they are already at -8.5mil cap space and still short a 4th liner and a Dman not to mention any scratches. The springboard would be for us.
  11. Reacquire our 3rd from the Rangers Offer sheet him at 5x6.1mil with the quick entrance to UFA and Buffalo being near his hometown and an elevated role as 2C I could certainly see him being at least interested. Especially if Tampa low balls him due to their cap woes and flat cap.
  12. Happy 4th everyone!
  13. Who is better Max Domi or Phillip Danault?
  14. That’s pretty much what I’d like to see and if Dudley. Can help set that up here then I hope we coerce him to rejoin the Sabres in yet another role lol
  15. I could live with Henrique but Stepan and either Strome are a no go for me. I'm a tad curious as to what players you classify in the electric 2Cs worth #8 and some other stuff?
  16. He was a good friend of mine
  17. Unsure, if anything I would guess he just wants to win rather than attempt to mimic a specific past team like TM's LAK or Bott's PIT. Based on his comments I would expect players, "we can be proud of" Sam Bennett types over Connor Sheary types. Essentially if the player isn't scoring he will at very least add something to the team as a whole every given night. I don't think that goes to a point of grinders over skill but rather 2 dimensional players over 1 trick ponies. Skinner and Olofsson, to a degree, will likely be our only pure goal scorers. To be honest I could get behind a team like that depending on the skill level. Botts had valued pure goal scoring/skating speed over all else and it left us with a team plagued by intermittent scoring that looked listless at times outside Eichel and Larsson's lines. To be honest, ironically enough I would guess ROR would of been a guy Adams would of liked because when he isn't generating offense he still has use. Skinner types become invisible when not generating offense. A couple Skinners is never a bad thing; you just can't build a team primarily with them as you'll have wild inconsistency and entire lines being practically useless. (Sound familiar?)
  18. Why not, money is money and Tampa can't pay everyone. Which ones exactly? Reinhart at 5/6 years should be between 6 and 7 mil Olofsson at 3/4 years should be between 3 and 4 mil Kahun isn't making anything over 2.85mil Ullmark is good but nowhere near great at this time hence the 3x3mil, if he wants 2x3mil I'd accept that too Haydn Fleury is the only one I don't have a clue about so I gave him a pay raise for 2 years.
  19. Detroit got completely screwed and all of bottom 7 teams were screwed since some fanbase will get to watch hockey and get #1 overall. It's ludicrous
  20. I wish fans could sue the NHL for this ***tshow. This is a travesty to all the fans who wont get to see their teams play hockey until December.
  21. All I know is Crowe got the same MBA as I did in Sports Admin at Canisius.
  22. For all we know Botts used him as a number guy and that was it. Analytics can help with being more cost effective so perhaps they like the movie Moneyball
  23. I feel offended by the fact my proposals are equated to that of Eklund and other incompetent attention desperate media members. Hey, at least I've gotten better over the years whereas Eklund.... well not so much ?
