  1. As long as the Republicans hold the Senate I’ll be fine losing Trump. I wasn’t happy to vote for him either time, he’s a real ####### but he helped bring us a more conservative court, made us more energy independent and at very least stood up to China. I think he did fine from an economic POV, where he failed was his demeanor was unbecoming of a president and he only seemed to get worse as time went on. (Granted the whole Russian collusion thing was a complete farce and he had a right to be angry.... but there are ways to express anger without tweeting like a teenager.) Biden, I pray that you stay moderate and help bring our country back together. I fear for our nation’s future if he starts adopting far left ideas the the Green New Deal or trying to pack the court. All that will happen is a reverse of the last four years of angry yelling. A more conservative court is a good thing because rarely due to conservative judges toe the party line. Hell the Chief Justice was put in by Bush and he sides with the more liberal judges quite often. The Supreme Court should always be there to keep the other branches from doing wild sweeping changes. I do worry about Facebook and Twitter’s power over information however going forward. They both blatantly lean left and will leave leftist lies up while chasing down even accurate conservative counterpoints. Not to mention if a famous person in sports or what not says anything even construed as conservative they are lambasted whereas leftist ideals being espoused are met with wondrous applause. I would like to know however why people have been so bloody emotional about Trump winning in 2016 through to now? The vitriol they had before he even made an act as president was ridiculous. I wasn’t fond of him as a person and that didn’t improve as I got to watch his behavior but the over the top theatrics were unneeded.
  2. I highly doubt Botts does the Staal trade. Part of his targeting was KA’s personal connection with Staal.
  3. If you are a Sabres player for any amount of time, even Dalton Smith and Jaro Halak, and don’t burn bridges with the city then I see them as former Sabres and former combatants for our cause.
  4. I second this statement as I too remember reading about it. Id guess we feared that if he went to arbitration we would be handcuffed in going big fish hunting as Kahun’s arbitration number could of wildly varied anywhere from 1.8 to 3.5 mil a year. Perhaps more depending on similar player contracts. However I doubt he would of surpassed the 4.2 or 4.5mil needed to walk away. The nightmare scenario would be everything else still happening but Kahun getting 3.3 mil for 1 year and putting us over the cap. I wouldn’t doubt Adams left his 1.4 mil deal on the table throughout but Kahun’s agent wasn’t about to come crawling back after screwing up. The Oilers have his good friend Draisital which gave the agent an easy target once salary concerns took the back seat to a roster spot.
  5. How exactly? Kahun wanted arbitration or what was likely 1.8mil plus per year. Adams said no thank you Kahun tests the market and is unable to reach his target salary. His agent, at very least, rather not return to Buffalo having been proven wrong and instead Kahun decides to play with his good friend on Edmonton.
  6. Kahun wanted over 2 mil and the Sabres called his bluff. I would of loved to retain him but we technically played our cards right here.
  7. Hanifin & Rittich(50%) & a 4th for Risto and a 2nd? we take on just under 1 mil cap and we both solve our respective problems
  8. Risto for Hanifin? Both are younger Dmen with defensive woes but love to hit. Hanifin is a bit better defensively and their salaries are very close.
  9. Anyone else notice a strange trend with the Buffalo GMs this past decade? Tim Murray was supposed to be draft savant able to adjust yet he was rather rigid in who he wanted and seemed to want to trade his extra high picks at every opportunity. Botterill was supposed to be a cap guru with team cohesion skills who could make us competitive while our prospects worked their way up; instead he weakened our team and did anything but run the cap well while heavily relying on his youngsters. Adams thus far, outsider who shouldn't do well at all and likely in over his head and yet he's done a better job with cap manipulation and seems to be actually building a roster. Its weird how Adams has so far done we wanted from Botts and Botts seemed to follow what we expected from Murray.
  10. I’m guessing the NHL lets teams have. Practice squad of sorts until the AHL starts training camp
  11. Hideous
  12. So far I have come up with Risto to Chicago for Murphy and Carpenter. (Murphy is a more defensive Dman which we could use with Dahlin) Then Miller to NJD for Butcher (was proposed on the hfboards by a Devils fan. From there, with Hutton in Rochester we would have 3.793 mil in cap space to acquire a goalie.
  13. I could of sworn they said depending on the revenues it could go up 500k. But maybe that's year 3?
  14. Why does the Girgs contract have to continue to pain me at every turn?
  15. Yes but depending on how the year goes; we will have a lot of flexibility.
  16. Kicking the can down the road again. I would of liked a 2 or 3 year deal but with the flat cap and whatnot; more flexibility cannot be a negative.
  17. Just so you know, I believe they cannot place a player on LTIR until after the 1st day of the season. Meaning they have to be under the cap at Day 1 and then they can LTIR them.
  18. I’m guessing 1x2.95 as the result. Splits the difference
  19. Any Kane trade would likely require some retention in this flat cap world. Reinhart and our 1st next year for Kane would very likely be at the center of the trade. From there it would be a matter of assets and money being swapped. I’d throw in Mitts and Risto and see if we can get Murphy from them. They would get younger and we would get another star. Reinhart, Mitts, Risto and our 1st for Kane (3mil retained) and Murphy It would come down to Bowman’s thoughts on Risto and Mitts. Hall-Eichel-Kane would arguably be the best Top Line in the league. Sounds terrible defensively but offensively goalies would cry in terror
  20. Far to costly and unpredictable to play even 60 games outdoors for every team. Put 1/4 in the arenas + somewhat filled suites and wear masks. People need to take some responsibility for their own health and the world can’t continue to hide and hope a vaccine appears in the next 6 months
  21. The Goathead shall return.
  22. I’d love to know the rate of return on investment. Not the literal money but for every 15 who receive help how many stick around for 2 or more years
  23. The problem with making hockey more accessible is multifaceted to say the least. For starters there are positives in its present form. For instance the vast majority of hockey players tend to be pretty smart, behave off the ice better than the average player in other leagues, and do still hold onto some tradition. (They haven’t sold out to every political agenda, going trend, or even society’s terrible trend of trying to make everything offensive only in all circumstances like the NBA and NFL are and the MLB teeters on.) The serious problem with hockey is cost to start the sport and maintain said play. Not only does it cost a lot of money but quite a lot of time. Helping low income families get to play by helping with equipment or league costs would be great however there are problems with that as well. Most notably is that children tend to be rather unpredictable and peer driven. If 8/10th of an inner-city friend group play basketball and 2/10th play hockey who what will continue more than likely? The money needed to flood a market not only would be high but would likely be very limited in success. How does one compete with a far cheaper and engrained sport? I can also understand the NHLs noncommittal stance on all of the recommendations the Hockey Diversity Alliance put forth. I will always be against race based quotas for hiring.
  24. I’d be looking for a 5x6mil contract. I refuse to give him a 2 year contract unless it’s well under 4 mil as it would only hurt Buffalo for him to get 2x6 and flee to UFA. Even arbitration is preferable to a 2x6 deal as we retain his rights.
  25. Hmm, that would be a hard one but I do like Chychrun quite a bit and seeing as he has a Pegula connection can’t hurt. I just hate anything involving unprotected 1sts. Give me Top 3 protection and I say sure.
