NY Rangers announce Chris Drury as President and GM
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I loved Drury, was angered by how he left following the reports of how he sort of strung us along. (I blame both Drury and Golisano/Quinn for Briere's departure) I honestly hate him now due to the fact he won't interact with anything alumni related with the team. When congratulating Miller, celebrating the 50th anniversary, etc. Drury is never involved. If we had offered him 2.5mil and said **** off otherwise, I might understand bitterness but it makes zero sense why he doesn't seem to even acknowledge Buffalo whatsoever. He literally played his 2 best seasons here and besides a Cup win as a rookie, his longest playoff runs. I will always fondly remember his time as a Sabres captain but I will despise him until he stops being an ***. -

The fact that Houser has more wins than Hutton is borderline hilarious. I do feel bad for Hutton to a degree though. -

Great win! They played well for the random goalie. Reino with 2g1a as a center again Maybe he can be our 2C -

They are both similar and different. Being charismatic doesn't necessarily make you a leader but being an effective leader tends to mean you have at least some degree of charisma. Leadership is "Person A" leading/commanding a group of others Charisma is "Person A's" ability to draw others to them -
This is some rather dated information. Letang only has 1x7.25mil after this year. And Perry is now on a cheap contract with MTL

I concur entirely. Eichel seems like an ok guy but he doesn't really excrete charisma like Allen does. Eichel has to produce on the ice to lead whereas Allen can theoretically push his team to victory even from the sidelines. To be honest few hockey players have the natural charisma that Allen does due to the typical nature of football players differing greatly from hockey players. For instance, Dylan Cozens is as close as we have on this team to a hockey charisma. Its that whole, "Screw you, I'll fight to the last second" kind of approach that is very endearing. Briere and Drury also exuded leadership but in their own ways. Briere was more akin to what Eichel needs to be, the flashy scorer who never says die and finds ways to succeed no matter the circumstance. Drury was more of a cold blooded leader; nothing ever phased him. You could count on his steadfast effort and ability to steady the team through the highs and lows. Plus he scored clutch goals like it was just a 6th goal in a blowout. Part of what endears Allen to his teammates and the fans is his unwillingness to give up on any play, to a fault. The guy would literally try to run through two 300+ pound lineman if it meant winning. Its very easy to play with someone you know will go through hell with you every step of the way. It's that reckless abandon that makes even his most indifferent teammates inspired. Eichel needs to stop moping or turn his moping into his personal rallying cry to grab the puck and ram it down the opposition's goal netting. Having trouble getting a goal still; play out of character, throw a hit or two I really do hope Eichel isn't jealous of a naturally charismatic NFL QB though... -
Trading down in the NHL draft is a fool’s errand barring a trade akin to #1 for #4 and another top 15 pick. You can’t trade out of the top 5 and get a top tier players unlike the NFL draft

I was trying to figure out a bridge contract for him but when its 4+ mil I get told its too high and this is considered to low.

I was at least glad to see Dahlin was done taking crap from the Bruins. How the Rat didn't get a penalty though is beyond me.

GDT Buffalo at Boston 4/29/21 7pm MSG, WGR550?
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Is it wrong that I hope next game that a Sabre knees one of the Bruins out of the game? I'm just haddit with Boston getting away with anything and everything. Kill them! (Not literally, but you get the idea) -
1C Eichel 2C Reinhart 3C Mitts 4C Girgensons LInes for now: Skinner - Eichel - Cozens R2 - Reinhart - Olofsson Asplund - Mitts - Thompson Bjork - Girgs - Okposo Cozens and Reinhart can switch depending on the situation and how they are playing individually. 1st Line: Speed and Skill can kill 2nd Line: Reinhart the playmaker with two elite shooters 3rd Line: potentially our best since 05-06 4th Line: A nice balance of speed, tenacity, and grit. Okposo is a stand in unless he LTIRetires or some random guy seizes the role.

Beniers would be my choice in a heartbeat. Put him with Cozens and whomever that lucky 3rd guy is will have an easy job.

I hate that Russian goalie on the Rangers 🤬 Refs gifted the Rangers a 5-3 then refuse to penalize the Rangers for blatant hooks, elbows and interference.

No I believe they’ll still be on TV as well. Wouldn’t make any sense to lob off a portion of the viewers. -
Who knows what his offers already were? For instance I would not of traded a 1st for a goalie

I want a win, if we draft 6th overall so be it but just keep playing well. I'm so tired of losing and hoping to draft high; this year there is no prize of note so let's do what we can to win!

I'm honestly of the opinion that at the time it seemed like a far better use of the money than trying to pry a goalie off another team for assets. Adams likely looked for a goalie but the cost was too high. Hall, in hindsight did terrible, but no one could of predicted his complete implosion. He probably wasn't going to put up 80 pts in 56 games but the fact he scored 2 goals total in 36 games is akin to hiring a plumber with rave reviews only for him to stab the waterline and cost you thousands in water damage.

Yes, probably best in North America. We likely have the largest variety per capita along with a great balance between Chicago's deep-dish and NYC's thin crust

I don't see any problem with it, they are getting paid oodles of money to play a sport and entertain us. I think they should be able to deal with some amount restriction to where they go. -

I can understand the latter point, they should adjust the pad size but I'm more referring to the tactical approach to basketball which the NBA has turned into only offense with few to no teams actually playing any real systems or strategic defensive play. I enjoy college basketball far more for that very reason. As for the bolded part, fans are fickle idiots (we all fall into this to be honest 🙂 ) but I absolutely despise fluid player movement. I like loyalty, I like a player sticking with the team who drafted him for 19 years through all the ups and downs. I enjoy the camaraderie that can form on a team where the players are all playing for each other and to win it all. Like the commercial, "we" versus "I" I hate the NBA's super teams and the mercenary approach the NBA has. If I had it my way, RFAs would have to wait until they were 30 to test the UFA market. Pay your dues to the team whom drafts you and the fans that support you and if you still haven't had success then you are free to Cup Chase. Most hockey fans are team-centric not player-centric and the league needs to understand that the NBA's fluid style won't translate well in the NHL. I honestly have hated the whole "basketball friends" group sign thing that has gone on for the last decade plus. -
