If you were GMKA, what is the most you would pay Reinhart to extend?
thewookie1 replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
6x7mil would be my target to be honest. I'm not afraid of his later years because speed has nothing to do with his skills. He doesn't rely on having quick skating in order to be the player he is. And as @dudacekmentions, barring any catastrophic knee or like-injury; he shouldn't lose much speed, if any, by age 32. -
Never!

Sabres are outmatched but holding ok. Rask bails out every Boston mistake. The announcing crew makes me want to cut out my eardrums. -
And your 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres Captains are:

Mitts doesn’t get one yet; however he’d be one of my injury Alternates. -
Caggiula over Eakin should do fine. No need to re-sign the 2 minute fighter.

I'd give Granato an 1 year contract barring a complete regression. You pay him a fair wage mind you. With success we'll give him a nice contract extension. Let him prove this partial season wasn't a fluke and because of its low cost and risk it makes the $$ crowd happy. You tell him to find an additional assistant coach to finish his bench. (He can also swap other coaches if he wishes)

I'd say we are an ok team; a fringe playoff team effectively. Had Tokarski played like this, Krueger been fired before the losing streak, and we had our roster mostly healthy (specifically Eichel and Ullmark) then I think we'd be neck and neck with the whole Boston/NYR area.

They've had some beef since ROR was still here because Reinhart stopped going to ROR's after practice "practices" -
I’ve read that he was on the trade block.

Quick Proposal Risto(35%) for JT Miller and Beagle We eat some money for the now cash strapped Canucks and get a 2C caliber player

Olofsson is both a great and terrible player due to his practically 1-trick pony status. And he's a doctorate holder in that one trick. He's not a guy I'd want to trade but given a solid player more suited to 5v5 in a hockey trade I might do it. The problem with that idea would be that Asplund adds specific skills that Olofsson doesn't have to their line. Asplund is solid defensively, tenacious on the puck, play in the corners and will crash the net. Olofsson really isn't effective at any of those facets aside occasionally playing the puck along the wall. Not to mention it would unbalance Mitts' line which would then have 3 very offensive minded players and two of which are at least spending some time looking for shooting lanes. It comes down to wanting a Playmaker, a Shooter, and a Power Forward/Possession Hound on each line. And once gelling the three players all begin taking some attributes from their linemates thus making the line itself stronger.

Hmm, I'd throw out the 1st trade as the only elite level potential talent is Fox. Strome is a UFA after next year, Buchnevich is a good player but not great and an RFA this year, and a mid 1st isn't exactly a given. Trade 2 is likely the most interesting as you'd get a high grade C, and solid Dman with a mid to late 1st and a prospect. The biggest flaw is both Aho and Pesce are UFAs in 3 years (after this year) and they are in our conference. Trade 3 is mediocre but almost entirely due to Barzal having a 7mil bridge contract for only 2 additional years. Then he'd get a payday. Sorokin and a late 1st are assets but nothing that makes me overlook their conference alignment. Trade 4 is likely the only one I might accept; however Landeskog is a UFA this year which puts a damper on it. If he had, let's say a 6x7.5 mil extension and then they also got Makar signed to a solid contract(as he's an RFA this year) getting Newhook would be a bonus.

While we were certainly the lesser team; we never quit and just continued to push and prod until the very end. Let’s go take the game tomorrow! -
We will never know if he could of done better if we refuse to trade him. That’s fine with me. I’d rather not have our franchise center get traded then watch him take off.
-
I wonder if he could just get himself on LTIR so he can still get his money while being effectively retired.

Let's kick their *** and sweep this weekend! -
If Eichel had to be traded, Tkachuk would be my 1st target but with an extension already.
-
I just seriously don't trust all of those players to pan out and we already have an elite center in Eichel. Simultaneously I have zero interest in trading Eichel in the Eastern Conference. Effectively your trade's roster on paper is very unpredictable. If all of the players continue to stay the same or better that would be a better team to a degree. However if any of Cozens/Reinhart/Mitts have a rough season; Buch, Shesterkin and/or Laf never pan out; or Fox pulls a Tyler Myers we could be effectively screwed with a weak team that is just a whole bunch of underperforming skill players. Eichel's line is effectively a given 85% of the time and not one of the other lines can give me anywhere near that reliability.
-
I know, just the general idea of inexperienced Dmen
-
For starters to the OP, you either give Dahlin a bridge or 8 years. Never give the 5 years because that takes him to UFA. Keith wasn’t paired with Hjalmarsson normally. For years it was Keith-Seabrook Hjalmarsson-Oduya Rosieval- Young guy(Leddy/ Van Reimsdyk/etc) Keith and Hjalmarsson would be together primarily in big defensive situations or in-between shifts/ double shifting. Essentially If shifts were a minute. Keith would play 1 minute with Seabrook, 30 secs with Hjalmarsson and then Hjalmarsson would play a minute with Oduya. To better our defense we need to likely trade Risto and Miller. Instead we need a guy like Savard/Hjalmarsson to fit in at the 2RD role. In my opinion, I look at next year assuming either Bryson/Borgen are not here. Why you may ask? Because I’d like to force competition and if Bryson/Borgen beats out the others then we are better for it.
-
Yup, my only question would be how many? Even with Ullmark can we rely on him staying healthy
-
Easy no, all are skilled and talented players but none of them have a consistent body of work to outright trust going forward. Fox could be great, or he could just be Tyler Myers. I'm not interested in trading Eichel; even less so in the eastern conference.
-
One moment you see Krueger behind the bench, next you don't see him anymore and Granato just standing there whistling.

If anything I’d guess Pegula wanted to see Ukka more than anything else.
