  1. I don’t trade Eichel after the NMC regardless. I’m not going to take a pittance or give him to a rival. In the end if he wants a trade he can either accept what we deem is the best offer for us, play for us anyway, or sit out the remaining 4 years.
  2. I wouldn’t take that trade only because 1 to 7 is a huge drop. Supposedly the Top 5 or 6 are the top tier so I’d want to stay in there. Also never imagine Toronto in the Conference or Stanley Cup Finals. No one needs that to ever happen. If they had pick 5 and additionally offered 22 and 31 and Bjorkstrand. I might at least listen
  3. It may have more to do with Karmanos doing his due diligence or even potentially related to departure from Pittsburgh technically happening in this league year.
  4. Well that certainly isn't good. He's our most important player and we can't lose him pretty much regardless or else we'll be looking at another 3+ years of no playoffs and disappointment while watching another ROR situation play out. (Even if we get good value for Eichel)
  5. Well I doubt anyone could of predicted how unlucky we have been with goalie health this year. Not to mention we really shouldn't be in the market for another random goalie; if he could of got one of the two CBJ goalies its a different story. If he must just sign some random goalie out there to a contract.
  6. Something here doesn't seem kosher. I'm unsure as to exactly what but these numbers give a very different look than both the regular analytics we all see and just the basic eye test. My only guess is the the whole opponent metric is flawed and thus creating some unusual results. Trying to base skill level 5v5 on PP time is a flawed concept in of itself. @WildCard is certainly on the right path seeing as some players are more specialists than others. How I personally see it is that PP time and 5v5 skill don't really correlate all that well. For starters most teams have PP units that play 4F-1D thus skewing the numbers from the onset. As such, lower lined players will comparatively receive higher weight that they really are worth. Just picture a roster, 2 PP units usually equal 8F and 2D. 8 Forwards means that you have 2/3 of the 3rd line as well as the full 1st and 2nd lines involved in effect. However this is rarely the case as there is almost always one or two more "defensive" forwards in a top 6 whom aren't as suited for PP play. Specialists are typically stored in the Bot 6 thus creating a abnormality between the 12 Fs on the roster's order and the PP player order. Therefore, players like Eakin will end up playing supposedly far greater opponents when he's really just playing 3 or 4th liners with PP upsides. I highly doubt one person here would say Eakin has been effective this year at anything outside of faceoffs yet this chart makes him out to be doing great comparatively. The other catch in this is how the 1st PP can sometimes play 75% of a Powerplay and rarely does the 1st PP line up with the 1st Line + 1 .
  7. I look forward to his assistance against Boston, he can play pretty well and is a literally fearless.
  8. Quick question, what exactly will Adams be doing with Karmanos managing the Amerks, Scouting, Player Development and Analytics Departments. Part of me wonders if Adams hopes to become more of President of Hockey Ops versus a classic GM.
  9. If they had to lose, they certainly made the Bruins earn every last ounce of a point.
  10. With what exactly lol, I just threw out a bunch of predictions. Also I definitely see someone giving Hall a good check. I doubt they are going after him, barring some unknown locker room beef, but you always see that after trades. It's sort of a hey there... remember me.
  11. He's technically referring to staggering the flow of the game to break the momentum in order to regroup. It doesn't mean to skate slow; it tends to mean goalies' freezing the puck and defenseman holding the puck behind their net on a change to allow the team to breathe.
  12. 5-2 Buffalo with an EN goal at the end. Sabres Goals: Cozens, Bjork, Reinhart (EN), Okposo, and Dahlin Bruins Goals: Bergeron and Hall Cozens and Bjork end up with 1g1a and R2 gets 1a The Mitts line has several good chances but is mostly neutral with Krejic's line Okposo scores just after our PP expires Reinhart's line barely survives against Bergeron's line but does just enough to limit their scoring chances. Hall gets walloped by one of Risto, Miller, Cozens, or Dahlin
  13. I have a suspicion that Krueger was effectively Hall's primary reason he received a full NMC. After all, a full NMC on a 1 year contract worth 8mil is rather unusual unless the team and player are very comfortable with their respective situations. You might see a vet or long time player for a franchise do this or someone fearing being waived at some point but Hall really doesn't fall into either category. From there you look at general trade protection. Various levels of a NTC work fine for protecting players from situations they don't wish to be involved in. But Hall's agent obviously insisted on a NMC which leads me to believe he had intended to be traded to Boston or a similar team as a back up plan from the start. Had he merely wanted to avoid the non-playoff teams he would been open to a 15 team NTC which is far more common for very short term contracts. Based on how Adams talked yesterday I would imagine he wasn't exactly happy about the situation that occurred but wasn't going to "out" Hall as some manipulative ***. And before you say it was Adams' own doing just remember how much faith Kevyn and the Pegulas put in Krueger's words. If Krueger said that Hall would waive his NMC to facilitate a trade, should it come to that, he likely assured them of it and they would of had no qualms about giving Hall the NMC. Adams definitely made a rookie mistake but I'd guess many GMs, especially newer ones, would of fallen into the same trap in his situation. If someone you respected vouches for a player; why wouldn't you trust him?
  14. Is it wrong that I hope he gets drilled by a guy just to "thank him"
  15. Depends if he's getting chances or not. As long as Eichel and either Cozens or Reinhart are still producing and he isn't hurting them then I wouldn't. Let's see if we can get 20 to 30 goals out of Skinner; he's played better as of late and giving the 9mil man a chance seems wise. Obviously if he's weighing his line down I'd change things but give him a chance to sink or swim. And more than 3 games against the Isles.
  16. My plan for 2021-2022 Buyout Eakin Sign Reinhart 5x6.5mil Sign Asplund 2x1.1mil Sign Mitts 3x1.4mil Sign Dahlin either to a 2x4mil bridge or 8x6.5mil Sign Jokiharju 2x2mil Sign Ullmark 3x4.75mil Sign McCabe 1x2.85mil (He may need to based on his injury) Sign Mrazek/Riemer 1x3.5mil Trade FLA's 3rd to get Seattle to take Miller Skinner - Eichel - Reinhart R2 - Cozens - Olofsson Asplund - Mitts - Thompson Bjork - Girgs - Okposo Dahlin - Jokiharju McCabe - Risto Bryson - Borgen Ullmark Mrazek/Reimer That leaves us with $11.3mil in cap space to push guys down the depth chart thus filling the additional 3 roster spots. Any ideas? A few thoughts I have is that this roster is too young and could certainly use Nick Foligno if he's willing to come here. Maybe trade Olofsson and/or Risto to better the overall roster. Essentially Olofsson isn't a true Top 6 forward but the only place to slot him is at 2RW. Okposo should be waived if he's not playing well and just buried in Rochester unless we need him as a pinch call up. (He plays much better once teams begin playing more defensive hockey on route to the playoffs) If he still isn't effective then buy him out at year's end as the cap hits aren't terrible at 3.3mil and 1.3mil where as buying him out this year carries a cap hit actually higher than a buried Okposo would.
  17. He wasn't meaning it in the sense he was angry at Buffalo. He was effectively saying what almost every player says after being traded in that he wants to make us "pay" for trading him. But he doesn't have some over-arcing agenda against Buffalo.
  18. Doesn't make me any happier; makes me want to throttle the ******* Why do players only ever seem to do this to us? Unless its an expansion draft related waiving.
  19. I guess we did better than the Flyers did with Gustafsson at least. His value went from a conditional 3rd to a year later 7th.
  20. It may have been in good faith originally but it seems odd that Hall refused to go to anywhere except one team unless this was his backup plan from the start.
  21. I may be just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but my guess is that there was a different trade Adams desired to pull off; likely involving Hall, that effectively was crushed by Hall's NMC. It would give credence to why they didn't retain on Montour as they have thought they were going to need it for a separate deal.
  22. He very well may of, the thing was how can you strong arm a guy who may have wanted Boston from the start. The only real threat Adams had was telling him he'd keep him in Buffalo for the remainder of the season but that would of been painfully awkward for everyone involved and potentially cancerous to the locker room with a discontent player angry over not being traded.
  23. Pretty much, I'm guessing Adams deemed a grumpy Hall stuck with the Sabres to end out the season was worse than trading him for a pittance.
  24. My guess is Hall probably wanted to go to Boston from the start and as soon as Krueger was fired desired to be sent there. Whether or not Adams tried to get Hall to go elsewhere is unclear but I would guess he likely did and Hall just shot down every offer. This would of left Adams in a position of either trying to force Hall to waive his NMC for another team through threats or merely doing what he could given the circumstances.
  25. and with the latter fired suddenly he was no longer above criticism or being forced the puck due to his adherence to Krueger's doctrine. He chose to just screw us as hard as he could on the way out
