  1. I certainly wouldn't say its out of spite; its more or less unconscious. If all the players think that a specific way of them playing is going to help the team win; they'll naturally gravitate to that. I'm not saying they are trying to spite their teammates but rather they all are wanting to help but since they all try to do so in a similar manner it creates an endless feedback loop. If you have 5 dishwasher people in a restaurant and the boss says to go help in the kitchen; what happens if all 5 go to the dishwasher? Well no food gets made and the 5 people overcrowd the sink thus inversely making it more difficult to wash the dishes. None of the five are doing it out of spite or malice; they just naturally go to where they feel they are best suited. If you have 5 surgeons but no nurses or an anesthesiologist then more than likely the surgery won't go well even with the myriad of surgeons since they likely don't have the required skills to "knock someone out" and if they are used to running a room, some may struggle to follow due to the unfamiliarity of the position. This is what I'm trying to portray.
  2. Something is different but I can't exactly put my finger on it. I think the problem is a combination of lack of experience and a lack of players willing to play a lesser role in order to win versus most of these years being purely due to a lack of skill. Essentially, too few players are willing to consistently do the grunt work required to succeed; everyone wants to be the star. Okposo and Girgensons will fight the good fight but one is old and the other lacks overarching skill. Tuch and Cozens both tend to play the right way but both get cutsie at times. (Tuch as of late seems to be trying to be too cutsie in order to help the team; when technically we need the opposite) Peterka is inexperienced but plays a similar way to the two above. Asplund is Larsson 2.0, a guy who wants Top 6 minutes and won't just accept he's a better Bot 6 guy. Tage shows it intermittently, not grimy as much as willing to go to the front of the net and use his size. Skinner is a perimeter player who will try and deke his way into the greasy areas but when the puck isn't bouncing his way he looks worthless. Krebs and Quinn both can be tenacious but aren't experienced enough nor consistently hounding the puck. Krebs is more disappointing since he also has the whole super passing talent but does more harm than good most nights. Mitts is truly an enigma wrapped in a paradox. He's both talented but unskilled; fast but slow; smart but dumb; good but bad. He can look awesome one moment and look braindead the next and this continues game after game after game. It's like he has skill and fight but chooses not to for some unknown reason. In the end, most of the forwards are more built and personally desire the Top 6 role and thus seem to either dog it or ignore their role entirely.
  3. Just stick a sock in it; no one needs your endless negative banter. You never say much when they win but when they lose you arise from your hole and spout nonsense.
  4. I would say yes… kind of. They are now in a rut but the first 5/6 were games more unlucky than bad play related losses.
  5. Sheahan looked ok last time he was here, now he just looks slow and bad
  6. It’s more like we have too many guys who want to be top 6 and too few willing to do the dirty work
  7. I get the sense some of you would only be happy with Mike Keenan
  8. Aside Asplund the 4th line has been useless
  9. If I’m Granato I tell them to get their ***** in gear and win this period; I want you all flying and if you don’t then you’ll sit. Hit every Leaf as often as you can and send a message. Keep pressing the offense and see if you can breakthrough. No more dancing, you go and plow through every Leaf in your way.
  10. It’s like a persistent disease that lingers year to year. Some of them do truly play to the bitter end but it just seems like some of those guys grow tired of dragging the others.
  11. Quick question, how do we put a burr in their saddles so they play like the 2nd more often? Outside their PK which is embarrassingly bad
  12. Well at least they brought some physicality now; why have we always had such trouble against Murray?
  13. UPL looks pretty bad on that one
  14. I want them to play with that grit 60min and if needed more
  15. The team looks defeated, they came out strong and once bounces go against them they deflated. This is where we miss Okposo
  16. He's a slightly better Bjork who's also a center. Scored a hattie against Tampa a couple years ago.
  17. Hamburg has so much snow that it has blended our trampoline into a hill and covered both of our outdoor cars entirely.
  18. The 2023 is completely off the table in my opinion. It is far too good of a draft and we are far too unpredictable to send it away.
  19. Biggest issue there is finding players who are truly willing to play tough and aren't just benefitting from their superior size in lower leagues.
  20. Wouldn’t do that; that would be absurd overpay.
  21. I disagree about Vanek, that guy took a beating through his career and rarely relented.
  22. If he does very well, I’d almost expect Anderson to start having vet cramps and need to be on IR for stretches.
  23. Ironically many defensive Dman I’ve looked at are all RHDs. Even ones we wouldn’t be able to trade for. I wonder why
  24. Paquette retired Issue is we already have 3 RHDs set up and Schenn is one too. Samuelsson - Dahlin Power - Jokiharju Bryson - Lybushkin
  25. Well yes but who exactly fits that role.
