  1. One easy fix would be to make one of their children interested in the team a minority owner and use that to help circumvent inheritance taxes
  2. Nope, ELC is still all they can sign. It's 2 years instead of 3 I believe but only the original team can burn a 3rd year to give the player some money.
  3. I wish these guys would retain play from game to game because we’d win against Florida tomorrow. They are all just too slow on the uptick against the more physical/defensive teams
  4. For now we wait until one shakes down to a 2nd and a 5th. I wouldn’t trade our 1st for any of them at this point.
  5. Sometimes you just take the powerplay if it wasn’t clearly malicious. UPL played it up a bit and was outside the crease. This wasn’t Smith going well into the crease and plastering UPL into the net. One must know when to fight your battles and that wasn’t one of them. More blatant attacks on the goalie have been reacted to pretty well this year
  6. Great road win! the kids are back
  7. The culture part was nigh instantaneous due to the circumstances. Akin to Vegas; when you bring together a myriad of players who were deemed expendable and are typically 2nd/3rd line guys; your team will adopt a feisty and dogged image as a result. All expansion teams have this “us against the world” mentality only Vegas and Seattle were actually given legitimate leftovers whereas in the past they received only literal scraps. You also get a degree of what we have got with Jost this year. A player whom feels either betrayed or fearful for their career and with their back against the wall will tend to play with an extra level of tenacity. Vegas’s Karlsson is a good example of this. He exploded out of nowhere his first couple years before returning to a far lesser state more akin to what he truly is. Lastly, Seattle got extremely lucky in net with Jones this thus far. Both of their big goalie gets last year were atrocious and only this year have given even a semblance of stability. Jones was God awful his past 4 years and seemingly found himself again this year; but there’s no guarantee he’ll keep it up through the year and into the future.
  8. More supported by their play’s improvement when sellouts occur and they get a jump on the opposing team early. They seem to just fly when the crowd and team are clicking
  9. My guess is that offensively they try to be overly fancy to impress the fans where as on the road they are far more willing to do anything in order to score.
  10. Well the Sabres plane has hit some turbulence now that teams actually see us as a threat. We won't see many more back ups and will need to grind our way through to the other side which I do have confidence they will.
  11. 2 games in a row we got goalied
  12. Inside of the elbow lol
  13. The Jets are effectively choking the Sabres and it’s creating issues.
  14. Could be as simple as Granato trying to generate offense
  15. Samuelsson leads the team in hits I believe.... actually Dahlin leads again Dahlin has 58 hits Samuelsson has 57 hits Bush has 50 hits Our 1st forward is Girgensons with 42 then Krebs at 39 Okposo at 35 Cozens at 31 Now part of that is thanks to the Buffalo stats guy having some absurd requirements to count a hit but we are definitely on the softer side overall. https://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/stats/individual/?selectedTable=0&sortStatId=HITS&guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAL_8bMgDV9krnJzE4tvb2_VY8F5kU0c2Xb7RQl1Q0YzczCmtbHf2HgrCV312SJTrDQDxuskum0nCBeLju5qigCfz1yerhJI-6BjAE0iLEiCL02F9rpdviipR9HALr3_Cmg-tGh2licOdeJDBdUvqNvef8wbx4WyhuKYXrDUE_ed7&positionIds=DEFENSE&leagueStructure= Nice table with league hits
  16. He was considered to be very good defensively while an offensive black hole with physicality. He seemed to promptly injure his leg and has been a step slower since and due to that we have seen him look more like a unreliable old man Josh Gorges instead of the hard hitting guy he was the first few games. To say the vast majority of us didn't like the signing or think he could be a solid Bot pair dman is revisionist history.
  17. Bush was a good signing that has yet to pan out; there's no assured "good play" clause in any contract. Just look at Philly who dealt for Ellis only for him to get a career ending injury within a week of starting last year.
  18. I have less than zero interest in Horvat
  19. He’s nothing more than a coward and an *****. Just hope we can fetch something for him or otherwise I wish we could force him to pay exorbitant prices for all the development Buffalo paid for him
  20. Just a stinker through and through
  21. They looked slow but also unlucky which seemed to create a vicious cycle. Perfect example would be the 2nd goal which literally required a random bounce to even happen. Just prior they almost scored off a blocked pass trickling behind Anderson. In the offensive zone there were multiple times where we poked pucks around Flyers only to bounce off something then another player and end up back with a Flyer.
  22. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such terrible puck luck during a period
  23. True but it’s nice to actually have players capable of doing it while not being a black hole
