  1. Heck, include Girardi in the deal too, he is only from Welland which is less then 30 minutes from the arena if the bridge is clear(Also IIRC, he is just finishing up building a nice big place on the Niagara Parkway in Niagara Falls, close to the Niagara Falls/Fort Erie Town Line) Ellis is from Welland too, Konopka is from NOTL which is part of Niagara, they could have gone after Clutterbuck from Welland last offseason, Bissonette in Phoenix and built a really tough/physical bottom 6 all from the Niagara Area. John Scott wasn't born in Niagara, but he played Minor Hockey in Thorold. Nathan Horton is from welland also with Paille. Lots of Options for "local" guys
  2. Which one is the Sabres and which is Edmonton?I pick the blue for Buffalo because it seems slightly more competent, the red one seems like the Oilers front office constantly banging into things, looking lost, and not having a plan..........
  3. Sure, one for Leino I understand, although with his history, they might be able to just keep him on IR and might not be able to buy him out since he's always hurt I assume the other is for Stafford, but with how he has been playing, they may be able to move him in a trade and actually get some kind of asset for him (even a low pick might be better then a buyout). There were rumors about the Habs being interested just before he got hurt, and their deal with the Avs for Paranteau fell through......
  4. Yeah, they weren't going to do something like that until they had the agreement done with the new owners, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something that Arizona required for them to do as part of the agreements they made with the owners.
  5. If you really want him, I don't think i would wait til the offseason where he would have his choice to go anywhere. He is almost 30 and has a history of injury, he may not be looking for top dollar, he might be looking for where he can get the best chance to win soon in case he doesn't have many years left in the NHL on his body. If the Sabres are truly sticking with "Tank Mode" and looking at next year being another "Tank Year" Callahan may look elsewhere so he isn't waiting a few more years just to have a chance to get back into the playoffs.
  6. I would make a deal with the Caps, preferably if they would send Holtby back in the deal to Buffalo, rather him then Nieuverth (It would probably end up being him because he is asking for the trade) If they send Holtby I would take Erat as someone they can buy out
  7. Are there cup holders over the urinals?
  8. I was waiting for this to happen once the new ownership was finalized and they had some agreements from Arizona that they wouldn't keep "Phoenix" in the name for long.
  9. Haven't almost everyone in the front office (including TM, & PLF) Say that they would rather keep Miller here then deal him, but its up to him to want to re-sign and that the reason they would move him is to get something for him if he won't re-sign? as for the trade situation for Miller being lukewarm, No one is saying its because they don't think he is very good/elite, thats the opposite of what most are saying. The trade situation is lukewarm because there aren't many contending teams who are looking to give up what the Sabres want for a UFA. Contending teams are in the position they are in because they are getting good goaltending already, sure Miller might put them over the top, but other teams are looking at their situation and thinking "Do I take the chance and mortgage our future for a rental upgrade in net, or stick with what we have and try to upgrade elsewhere for possibly cheaper? As for the rest of the teams, they could be looking at the fact that he is a UFA who will probably test the market in July and decided to wait to make an offer then, when tehy don't have to give up assets to get him.
  10. I'm surprised they didn't cut out a couple of rinks and make them Basketball courts. Its not like they don't have the space to remove a rink or 2 and put some courts in there instead and appeal to everyone
  11. Frank was screwed, if he would have been given more starts to show he can be the #1 the Bills wouldn't be where they are today!
  12. No, Because who cares what NHL coaches, GMs, Scouts, Sportswriters, commentators, or anyone else see or say. You can't put it to rest until he has been given lots of playing time that the fans can watch and judge to determine if he can be a starter or not. The stats prove that Enroth can be just as good as Miller, he had a long stretch of wins a few years ago, and he gets no goal support from the team, unlike Miller who is only good in olympic years...................
  13. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/22109-is-there-any-chance-that-trades-will-be-made-before-deadline/Sorry, the "will there be any trades made before the deadline" which is basically a will Miller be traded before the deadline thread
  14. Miller will be traded thread, post #172 IIRC, from the end of October Only brought it up cause someone bumped that thread earlier and I read it thinking that was a new response
  15. Thats what it looks like Either that or its the Edmonton Oilers Rebuild Tank, although I think that thing would move much quicker then the rebuild of the Oilers...........
  16. yet at the end of October you were talking about how Halak was better then MillerNow he would be splitting time with Enroth?
  17. I hope not, theres a child in front of himUnless of course its one of Brady and Giseles spawns......
  18. tough one, by team do you mean the guys currently on the Sabres roster, or also guys in Rochester? Picks and Prospects?Do the coaches and GMs/front office also make the change? If its just current roster guys, sure I would then send some picks and prospects over to Edmonton for Miller and maybe a few defencemen, while making some other moves with picks and prospects to get some additional back end help The Oilers have a good base there of high end picks up front, but they don't seem to have the coaches or front office capable of building a good team
  19. if they take him on in a trade this year, after game 82 of this season, Miller has no salary from the Sabres that they could keep(I think the person you quoted was referring to the Ducks signing him as a FA this offseason) Personally, I don't see the Ducks looking at goaltenders this offseason, unless its a deal for someone to come in and backup Fasth next year. They have an abundance of goalies right now, can't see them spending alot to bring in another
  20. I don't think Enroth is even going to see the ice anytime in SochiHe is going to be fighting to get the backup job behind Lundqvist
  21. Kadri and Kessel, 2 guys who want to flex their muscles and then run away when the bear wakes up.......
  22. Looks like an evil deal for Marleau..........
  23. None of those teams tanked for the purpose of getting better, they were bad because they had ownership that was either in serious financial trouble (Pittsburgh fighting bankruptcy), or an owner refusing to spend and being cheap (Chicago). Once the lockout ended, and Pittsburgh had added Crosby and Malkin, their financial troubles went away and they were able to spend. The year the 'Hawks drafted Kane the owner dies and his son takes over and starts working on deals to increase the revenue and spend more money.
  24. I would say its highly unlikely that he stays around because he wins a gold I think the only thing that winning a gold, or having another great olympics does for Miller is inflates what the fans think he should return in a trade. There aren't many contenders looking to give up alot for a goaltender on an expiring contract. The reason why most teams are in a position as a contender is because they have good goaltending already. Just look at St. louis, they have good goaltending, Miller would put them over the top, most likely making them cup favorites, but its doubtful they want to mortgage their future and give away much for an upgrade in net that may just be a rental. I would think the market for goaltending is much better for fringe guys, goalies making less and have shown they can be capable as short term fill ins with potential to be a #1. there are more teams looking for a short term answer in net right now to carry them over while their starter is hurt (like nashville) then there are teams looking for a #1 guy right now. (All of this is also considering the rumor that all Canadian teams are on Miller no trade list) I am almost 98% certain that there will be complaining that what they get back for Miller is too little, or people will be saying "Thats it?" if an when he is traded. The remainder of the posters here will be telling us that Miller is only good during olympic years and that the Sabres will be just fine (and notice very little difference) with Enroth in net
  25. Actually, I don't even think you can say that about the Penguins either. They did win the lottery by getting Crosby, who appears to be in the same category as Gretzky. But they also spent many years drafting near the top to get Malkin, Staal and Fleury, but without Crosby, I still think they are not favorites for a cup if they didn't land him. Chicago spent alot of time at the bottom also and ended up getting Toews and Kane eventually, and with some additional moves were able to win a couple cups. What both of the teams appear to have had in common that put them in a position to draft highly for many years was bad ownership that kept them from spending and bringing in good players. Pittsburgh was fighting to keep their team in pittsburgh and Bankruptcy until they hit the Crosby Jackpot, and the 'Hawks needed their old owner to die and get passed on to someone willing to spend. Theres alot more Oilers and Islanders (teams drafting for many years at the top of the draft and fighting to just be a playoff team) then there are teams that drafted a superstar in the top spot of the draft and turned things around.
