  1. As soon as the brackets are announced and Minnesota misses out, make the call, off him a rookie max deal and get him signed. He needs to be playing in the AHL playoffs this spring and in the NFL next fall! Comes in Botts we need skill!
  2. Wheeling and dealing ... LOL More like league wide huff and puff! No one seems willing to make a move.
  3. where did Bogo and Gorges go? There contracts just magically disappeared? Guess that meant Moulson stayed? What about Ennis? That's a lot of money you are dealing with.
  4. Easy pass for Anaheim. Sabres get best players, Ducks get biggest contract and the picks are irrelevant in this draft. Bailey doesn't make up the difference. First one could work if the Wild are willing to take on Kane. Not sure they'd do that. Second has zero chance! Young cost controlled defense for spare parts. Nope, never gonna get it done!
  5. How many fights did Gilbert have? How about Patty? I hope never. Only bad things can happen when a guy like him gets into a scrap.
  6. Tonawanda Icemen I've always thought WNY would be a great location for an OHL tam. Cheaper fun alternative to the NHL and the hockey is fun to watch. Used to drive up to Niagara Falls and watch the old NF Flyers/Thunder play. I watched Jay McKee before the Sabres drafted him!
  7. OK, the Sabres and Oilers are both 0-0 in games that count and people are creating threads that they are GOOD. what is wrong with you? Let's wait until October 30 not Sept. 30 to start making declarations. Yep, both teams look promising, and we can have hope and excitement but we are not good, yet.
  8. Ran it 100 times, Sabres won exactly 20 times!
  9. It would have to be Fox Sports type challenge. That would give you access to the reruns of the World Poker Tour and college football games. You could also do a deal with OHL to broadcast some of their games, Erie for now and perhaps a local team. Certainly would be sweet. However, I see this as very unlikely. Though personally, I'd love to see a challenge that had poker on 24/7, but ...
  10. The Islanders need to stay healthy and in this league that is tough. They do not have a lot of depth and its a long way til April. I doubt very much we'll get a top 5 pick from them based on how they are playing but you never know what key player or two goes down.
  11. He needs to move on and so do the Sabres. Enroth and Neuvirth are the goalies.
  12. Western conference finals And honest who doesn't want to see Miller win the Cup? It would be great to see
  13. I've wanted the Sabres to draft Sam Reinhart the whole process. He has several skills we simply lack. Elite play making ability. Hockey sense that are off the chart. The guy sees the ice at that superstar level, and he creates goal scoring opportunities for his teammates because of his hockey sense and passing skills. He can make those around him better. Yes, he's a not a pure goal scorer and perhaps he could be a bigger player but I just feel and see on tape a guy who would fit here nicely. Florida to me has to draft Ekblad or trade the pick to Calgary or Edmonton. Bennett seems like a fit their as well as they have centers and Bennett has shown quality abilities on play on the wing. However, how does a team pass on the elite skill level and size of Ekblad when you have no one in the system like that. The Sabres could pass on Aaron beause of Rasmus and Nikita; also to some extent, Pysyk and McCabe.
  14. If I was grading the top picks in this year vs. next year draft: scale of 1-100 hey I'm not a scout but I'm so hoping we grab Reinhart. 91-100 = A 81-90 = B 2014 Sam Reinhart, C (2014) - 90 (love the IQ and play making) Aaron Ekblad, D (2014) - 92 (looks like a franchise type defensemen) Sam Bennett, C (2014) - 88 (hard to play against with willingness to go to scoring areas) Michael Dal Colle, W (2014) - 83 (NHL winger's frame and a shot to go with it) Leon Draisaitl, C (2014) - 85 (skating is questionable but compete level and skill is not) 2015 Connor McDavid, C (2015) - 98 (can't say anything that hasn't already been said) Jack Eichel, C (2015) - 97 (Steven Stamkos like ability) Noah Hanifin, D (2015) - 90 (big mobile defensemen) Matthew Barzal, C (2015) - I haven't seen enough tape on this guy (read great things about his play making skills) Pavel Zacha, W (2015) - I haven't seen enough tape on this guy (big and strong winger) Colin White, C (2015) - 90 (could end up being higher next season) Oliver Kylington, D (2015) -85 (amazing in the AHL skills competition) Travis Konecny, C (2015) -85 Dylan Strome, C (2015) -88 Paul Bittner, W (2015) - 88
  15. If I were the Islanders, I would keep the pick. Lots of things went wrong this year. The goal-tending was awful, the team suffered lots of injuries, the franchise player JT was hurt for a long period. It was a storm of bad things. Therefore, I would trust the team will improve next year, take the risk of giving up a high pick in the worst possible year and hope I can be a playoff team. The Sabres would be OK but not thrilled with the 17th pick in the draft. I might try to trade the #5 pick this year to another team to try to provide some top 6 depth and maybe a 2nd round pick next year because not having both the 1st and 2nd round pick next year will be difficult.
  16. Next year won't be a tank, sure sounds good on paper, but in reality, what is best for the organization? A. Fill the roster with your young talent now and surround them with veterans to make the cap floor and try to win (which they won't). OR B. put as many of the young guys in Rochester, McCabe, Grigs, Armia, Ristolainen, Lieuwen, Makarov, Deslauriers, Etc. develop together where they may be able to have success. And if we send Reinhart (yep, I'm calling it) back to juniors, who could blame them? Obviously, option B makes more sense in the long run. I hate losing but come on, we can handle this one more year before we start to to try to truly compete! Patients is the key. One more crappy season will see us in a position to start moving forward! No one needs to tell Tim Murray the right thing to do.
  17. Currently we have 13 contracts committed to next season @ 36.9M Tyler Ennis - offer 4 year 16M (3.5, 4.0, 4.0, 4.5) - 4M cap hit Cory Conacher - offer 2 year 2.8M (1.3, 1.5) - 1.4M cap hit Marcus Foligno - tough contract - offer 2 year 5.6M (2.6, 3.0) - cap hit 2.8M that's 8.2M added or 16 contracts @ 45.1M now we have 7 contracts and about 9M needed to be spent. 2/3 UFA's and the cap floor won't be a problem. Konopka, D'Agostini, McBain can all walk
  18. We've come this far, we can tolerate one more horrible year to have the chance at McDavid. Lets face, nothing is guaranteed and could end up sucking and picking 3rd but t least we are doing what is right by the organization.
  19. Sign this UFA sign that UFA, though there are plenty of player who will take the money, if you're Matt Moulson, Steve Ott, Ryan Callahan do you really want to play in buffalo now? The team is awful and does not look like it will win for a while. Plus will the Sabres offer the term these guys want? It's easy to say play x players 6 million on a one year deal, but I get offered 4 years 13 million elsewhere I'm taking the 4 year deal. I'm sure Murray has a plan but the Sabres have 18 to 20 million to fill in. And the plan better be around have a tough season next year, as we need to contend for that top pick. After that winning becomes the priority again.
  20. OK, let assume we continue down our path of destruction and end up winning the lottery for the #1 pick. If the Islanders end up with the 2nd pick in this years draft, do they keep the pick and risk the 2015 draft? If they option it to Buffalo and we pick 1-2 do we pick both Reinhart and Ekbland? Do we pick Reinhart and then maybe gamble with Michael Dal Colle? Do we pick Reinhart and then try to trade the #2 pick? Any way you look at it, I want Reinhart, the guy got a great combination of offense and defense. He's a play maker with a little grit and leadership? If we only we lose the lottery and pick #2, let's hope the Islanders pick #3 and we could grab Ekbland and Dal Colle and maybe use both of those picks to move to #1. what do you all think?
  21. So at this point what the reason Reinhart is viewed as the better player over Ekblad, other than the obvious forward vs defensemen aspect? And how far is the gap to guy like Dal Colle?
  22. I love draft talk but how freaking depressing is it that we need to start this discussion in October? However I have complete confidence that the idiotic Sabres will win 13 of their last 20 games and end up with the 7th pick in the draft. Because we all know that's what Buffalo does.
  23. How can they not be? This team is awful. They cannot score and our coach has won 8 of 37 games in regulation!
  24. OMG why? This doesn't make any sense for either party.
  25. yeah he can come to Buffalo, when the Capital have a schedule game at the First Niagara Center. otherwise, it is never gonna happen.
