  1. Damn you Drunkard ! You just threw a wet blanket of my dreams.lol I know what you're saying but we will need veteran leadership so an established player and a blue chip coming back might work. I hate the cap world.
  2. They dangled the carrot of McDachiel in front of him and he bit. He's bought in. He's on board. Hook line and sinker.
  3. Cody is the antibruin. Soft and passionless. La t da. In a perfect world TM greases the skids of a trade by adding Cody to the mix to get what this team needs. Throw him in on a Myers deal if thats what it takes. If you want to change the culture there's a good place to start. Sabres lose tonight. I know I know...thats a stretch. Regardless. As always, GO SABRES !
  4. No mans land. Two steps forward, one step back. There will be some bumps in the road to respectability. We're so far off now I just can't see this thing turning around anytime soon.
  5. I missed this thread
  6. Good point. This is a process right now where TN is trying to weed out the losers and find the nuggets in a steaming pile of shite. Next year and the following year we will probably be looking at a whole new set of guys until they have the right mix of balls to the walls winners. If they can't be part of the solution then perhaps they are part of the problem. Sayonara.
  7. Yes this team really is this bad. Like it or not there are still floaters on this roster and with TN trying to change the culture from ' country club ' to ' Tough to play against ' or 'hard working ' there will be casualties among this group. I believe Teds trying to weed them out right now. Who's willing to go through a wall for his team mates ? Who half ###### it ? Seeing that someone like Hodgson has been demoted to the 4th line sends a message to the rest that you could be next if you don't work. Personally Hodgson just doesn't fit into that kind of team. His defensive side of the game has always been questionable and maybe thats why he's been singled out. His offensive side has been there but where is it lately? Without the offence he's not of much use. Some guys can't carry others and need a surrounding cast to elevate their games. Cody falls into this catagory. There are others. Jack London once said ' life isn't about being dealt a good hand its about playing a bad hand well. ' Nolan has his work cut out for him. This is one crappy team.
  8. 86 and I still wouldn't cross the man. Tough as nails. Hope he recovers but at his advanced age it'll be a struggle. Get well Mr. Hockey.
  9. Agreed ! As always GO SABRES !
  10. I agree with LTS. Good point. All this talk of no system is laughable really. Its a lack of talent. Simple. After the San Jose win an opposing players was quoted as saying that the Sabres play a good system and work hard. Every team has systems and set plays etc. There would be no need for multiple coaches if it was all rah rah rah. Its understandable that some on the board just don't like Nolan but give him some credit. He's not a moron.
  11. You take Hanifin and he plays for you right away or you take a forward slotted 4th or lower who potentially takes 2 or 3 years till he makes the bigs. If we draft 3rd its an easy choice. Hanifin who plays all situations and has the potential to quarterback your powerplay for 7 or 8 years creating offence from the backend.
  12. I agree. You can't pass on Hanifin with the 3rd pick with the reasoning that he's a D man and you need offence. He's the type of player that will create offence from the back end. And as Rob said he's elite. I'm not sure Myers was considered elite when drafted.
  13. He's got the same lack of control ol pappy had. Can't keep a reign on his emotions. I agree, its embarrassing.
  14. So what you're saying is even with a complete lack of talent compared to most squads they should be able to hang right in there with the better teams in the league ? With Mike Babcock at the helm they should outshoot most teams. I disagree. This team lacks the bare essentials to compete on a nightly basis and thats why they were 30th last year and have shown little to no improvement this year. Even the best coach can't fix that.
  15. So...this ones on Nolan then ? Crappy coach when they lose, great coach when they win. Were there any x's & o's in his strategy ? lol
  16. I'm not really expecting wins at this point but at least try and develop the players you have. The 4th fukcin line again ? Nolan is obviously coaching for his job where wins are paramount. Ted you're not going to win many games this year. Try something innovative? Give Samson some minutes before you send him down.
  17. Agreed
  18. The worst futility record of all would be dead last 2 years running and miss out on # 1 both times.
  19. Thats very true. I also hold the opinion that being a middling team is akin to sukcing dick also. When Buffalo is considered a threat to win the cup as L.A. has been the last few years thats when I'll not worry about where we'll draft. Thats a feeling as a sabres fan I've rarely felt.
  20. Not worrying about where we draft. A luxury as a Sabres fan few of us have ever felt simply because we've never really been as relevant as the Kings in terms of cup contenders. Pretenders at times sure but never really contenders. Thanks a lot Darcy :wallbash:
  21. Going to the Black Keys in Vancouver on the 30th. I'm hoping there's a real Halloween theme goin on with lots of people in costume. Can't friggin wait.
  22. PA- Steve Harper has already since this shooting pledged to give more powers of detention and surveillance to security agencies in Canada. So there is that. These incidents always seem to give gov't a free reign to push through new bills that normally might have more opposition from the official opposition as well as regular folk. Brings to mind the adage of those that give up liberty and freedom for security deserve neither.
