I agree. I'm not sure he deserves 1st line duty but put him in a position to succeed fer chrisp sakes. They'll waste 9 games at 3-4 minutes a night and tell us with a straight face they're helping his development.

Apparently a commentator called the Williams sisters the brothers and now former player Martina Navratralova has got her boxers in a bunch. The Sedin brothers come to mind. It wasn't that long ago it was commonplace for the likes of Don Cherry ( i realize thats totally within character for Don ) and Mike Milbury to publicly call them the sisters without any repercussions. Exactly. Great post. This team is what it is at this point and frankly there's no turning back. Stay the course. It sucks that now we get all the ' i told you so's ' and finger pointing. Of course this is what happens when you rebuild with an eye on the future. Suck it up people.

In Edmonton the owner is the ultimate fanboi in that he used to chum with Mactavish and the other players during the glory years long before he owned the team. These guys that belong to Edmontons old boy network are his friends. This management group could continue to make the same mistakes over and over and it doesn't matter. Alberta has a booming economy and the building is a sellout even without the wins. That may change with the falling oil prices and the cost of tarsand extraction but for now people continue to fill the seats. Is there a tipping point where the fans say fukc it ? My guess is the head coach will continue to be the fall guy and the G.M. and his cronies will continue to mismanage the team with impunity because the owner simply doesn't care. He's making his money.

I don't blame him. He has to justify his useless asss somehow but are people really going to dispute what these players say ? This team has embodied the term ' dysfunction ' for quite a few years now. They've finally turned the corner as far as management goes ( we'll see ? ) but as someone else pointed out this franchise is and has been a trainwreck.
