My brothers a hard core Isles fan from the beginning so he got to enjoy the good years. I was teasing him this summer about us getting their pick in the draft and how we snowed Garth. He explained how they were going to have a breakout season and said don't underestimate Garth. Said he'd built a team that would contend. I laughed. Turns out he was right. They are playing great hockey.

Edmontons a red hot mess. MacT all but blamed everyone but himself. When he said that this was something they had to do to get to that next level my first thought was what is it that you have to do Craig, Lose ? They are obviously in on tanking .

Regier seems to be a hired gun as far as franchise teardowns go. He knows how to gut teams. At least he has something he's good at.

That ice is slanted real bad here. Anyone under the assumption that the Sabres can skate with a team like this is grossly mistaken. Sure we beat them in our own barn in a meaningless game but wow, do we look overmatched.

This explains Hodgsons point total this year. Coach Nolan told him his role. Ted said " Cody you on board ? " Hodgson heard " Cody you're Stafford . " He's found his groove.

I suppose you continue to draft and develop players with those traits then. As well as hire coaches like Ted who continue to motivate and teach work/reward hockey. There's nothing worse than seeing a pro athlete go through the motions.

The players in Edmonton are in on the tank. This is unheard of in pro sports. The players never support a tank. Pro athletes generally have to much pride and far too large an ego to support tanking. Not in Oil country. Friggin wankers.

If Ted does as most suspect and teaches the kids the benefits of hard work and the belief that good things will come from it then he's done his job. If he instills that attitude in the guys that will be the leaders of the team or core going forward I'm good with that. They can pass it on to the newer guys and it becomes a part of the character and tradition of the club. We're golden.

That and if he doesn't get Cody H going he's absolutely worthless to this franchise at an exorbitant wage and cap hit. And impossible to trade.

Bah. I want generational talent behind door # 1 Alec. Or is it Alex ? I think I've mixed up the game shows but I'm sick of the barely contending for the playoffs then not contending at all show. Thats old. Been there done that. Give me 1,2,or 3 at the top of the draft and I'm a happy camper.

I would have preferred the throat shot for that bossy nag. Too bad Beths aim was off. Darryl comes in with cleanup duty and did just fine. I really like Rick and Darryls badassery lately.
