  1. Roster is out. Dahlin will indeed be there.
  2. Assuming he's telling the truth and was only taking what the team gave him, then they kind of belong under the bus a bit.
  3. Schmidt / Vegas all sorts of cheesed off... want you to know he didn't do it....
  4. Just got my renewal notice for NHL.tv. It’s getting closer... excellent.
  5. It wasn’t identified as a Sabres player. Might not even have been a player at all. The panel was one player, coach, scout, executive, and Custance. Ranked teams in five tiers, 1 (cup contenders) to 5. (Lottery certainties). Put the Sabres in tier 4, just outside playoffs.
  6. It's the patented and inevitable third-year of Jose Mourinho meltdown. His last four jobs, year three, ka-blam. Maybe not so much Inter, can't remember how that ended. Fun to watch though.
  7. I’m finding it hard not to go full-Pangloss on this season. It’ll probably lead to crushing disappointment but what the heck? There are reasons to be enthused. The Lehner skate-sharpening article gives us reason 563 to be glad that giant doofus is somewhere else, and I think (without, admittedly, any evidence to back this up) that the removal of ROR and his sad sack routine from the locker room might be worth it from a team dynamic point of view, even if he will be missed on the ice. Finally, this is starting to look like an actual hockey team with NHL players on it... guys who have been able to coast because there was nobody to replace them (looking at you, Zemgus and Johan) are going to have to earn it or, hopefully, be replaced. I like what JBOTs has done so far, and remain convinced that he’s not done doing things. I can’t wait for this season to start, I think it’ll be at least fun again. Note: Feel free to drag this out and beat me over the head with it when they start 0-5 and Jack has spontaneously combusted, taking Samson with him in front of a bus on the tandem bike...
  8. No kidding. The Premier League has six teams worth watching, and you could make a defensible argument that Everton maybe make a seventh. Still better than Spain’s 2.5, (Athletico Madrid sometimes is the .5) but troublesome.
  9. Ehhhhhhhhh. They've had Huddersfield to start, followed by Arsenal and then Newcastle. Arsenal could and should have scored about eight goals on them. Huddersfield are terrible, as are Newcastle and that game required a penalty of questionable vintage right at the end to win. They have Bournemouth, Cardiff, and West Ham followed by Liverpool at the end of September. If they drop a point prior to Liverpool I'lol be shocked, but that says less about Chelsea than it does about the concerning trend of the EPL looking more and more like Spain. Shiny and nice at the top, hot garbage the rest of the way down.
  10. As a WNY native and Bonaventure graduate I have no dog in any college football argument. Just sticking my head in to ask if everyone can stomp all over Virginia Tech so that I may drink all the salty tears of literally everyone around me (with the exception of the UVA fans, who are to be pitied, really...).
  11. This. 1000 x this. He's done, will have had a normal summer and preseason. I expect god things out of KO
  12. Called it... Abromovich looking to sell Chelsea. https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2018/08/25/sports/soccer/25reuters-soccer-england-chelsea.html also, thank you Arsenal, for not completely embarrassing yourselves this week...
  13. Erm... he was impeached by the house, but not convicted and removed from office. His presidency very much did not end early. Clinton’s case was pure political shithousery. Say what you will about Slick Willie, that whole saga was a national embarrassment and should never have happened. (And yes, Bill is included in the embarrassment). Johnson absoloutely needed to be launched. Long story short he tried to railroad Lincoln’s staff out of Washington so he could install more South-friendly people of his choosing, ignoring legislation passed over his veto to protect a good many of them. (Johnson was a southern Democrat, things worked quite differently back then) The Senate fell one vote short of removing him.
  14. Housley may indeed not be the guy, but this in no way makes Disco Dan’s “firing pucks that-a-way as hard as we can because of reasons” extravaganza anything better than abysmal. We all watched...
  15. I think the carrier flags the numbers, so it depends.
  16. @dudacek I agree with just about all of the above. But, if I can hone in on one aspect... the elimination of Lehner and all the bad that came with him absolutely has to be worth a few points in the standings... even assuming we see slightly less than bog-standard goaltending out of Hutton/Ullmark. But I don’t think we will.
  17. 00-01 is the one that burns me the most. As stated, put Peca or the trade return for Peca in that team and look out. Also, and I can not ever state this often or loudly enough, but #### Doug Glimour. With a cactus.
  18. The parable about the outhouse in Alaska was low-key the most brilliant part of that piece.
  19. Ha in general had a few hours to reflect upon it.... We're doomed. The GOP is so heavily compromised that they can't boot Trump. Trump was only ever a cover. The indictments of, at the time of this writing, two GOP congressman confirms this. The Republican Party is an anti American lobbying group for Russia. Russia is, demographically speaking, dying. Economically, they rely on cheap oil and gas. What better way to promote the Russian agenda than to fully compromise the PUSA, to the extent that he has, in violation of the constitution, refused to implement Congressionally passed sanctions upon them. That 's phase one. Phase two: destroy NATO. Putin really wants to roll over former Soviet Eastren Europe. Trump throwing toys out of strollers about NATO is not random nor harmless. He'll do what Vladimir tells him and allow Russia to roll over Ukraine, Georgia, and the Baltics without reply. Thus strengthening Russia at our expense. Of course, Trump pockets millions in the process, which is all this was ever about. I weep fthe r my country. I have no confidence it will ever improve... We are all doomed.
  20. I'm of two minds. Were we not living in the worst of all possible universes right now, Trump would, even if you allow for the astoundingly suspect means by which he gained office, be gone already. Or impeached five minutes ago. Or left to dangle by the GOP in a self-preservation exercise and not nominated for 2020. The one thing that gives me a slight amount of hope is that we are still at the tip of the iceberg. When a wholly corrupt group who have never beforehand known accountability inexplicably place themselves under a large microscope, things get seen. There s so much more yet to drop. Receipts all over the place. It'll be interesting to see where things go. And terrifying. People will probably die. I'm not kidding.
  21. I mean... given everything else going on today, I can no longer even with these abject scumbags. There is not enough wood on earth to build the necessary (hypothetical) guillotines.
