  1. You have a rare talent for choosing issues to be on the obviously wrong side of.
  2. Oh FFS. You're quite pretty. This isn't about looking hot anyway. It's about (i) demonstrating the good judgment to look professional in an interview setting and (ii) showing the company that you respect it and the opportunity enough to show up looking like you're taking it seriously and you want the job. Find a blazer that fits you reasonably well, put it over a reasonable blouse that doesn't show cleavage, and wear either pants or a skirt (as long as the skirt isn't too short). Then forget about it, get to the interview 5 minutes early (but not more than 8 minutes early because that's weird and a bit annoying for them), show enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity to meet with them and ask some questions that demonstrate that you've done your homework. You're going to crush it. Outstanding. Oh! Oh! Feminist/assumption/white male/check your privilege breach!! SJW code red!
  3. If the Bills are the only team with this kind of policy, I completely agree with this -- and will also note that it belies the "Russ Brandon, irreplaceable marketing genius" canard. Good question. The tone of outrage coming from the media on this suggests that the Bills are unique in this -- but I don't put much stock in their credibility, so I'd be curious as to what the facts are.
  4. I agree with Aud -- that outfit (shoes, pants, blouse and hair) is a bit too casual.
  5. If a schizophrenic homeless dude on the subway talking loudly to himself about the imminent end of the world looks up and accuses me of being an agent of the one world government, do I take it seriously?
  6. Totally agree with this. JJ50 -- time to reevaluate.
  7. 11 -- you're going to take the grad student's money AND make him admit to his rooting interest in Hillary? That's cold. I guess we'll all have to live with the harsh and unpredictable realities of life under President Trump.
  8. Here are a few photos from a trip to California last year. On the side of the road of the Pacific Coast Highway (which is amazing): Morro Bay: And a tree that looked like a Weirwood from GoT.
  9. Top pairing: Schoeny and Housley. This is not negotiable. Fire and magic. 2nd pairing: Ramsey and McKee 3rd pairing: Korab and Hajt. I wanted to include Soupy, but he was only good for 2.7 seasons as a Sabre.
  10. Not sure if this has been mentioned in the show, but in the books, Tormund's claim to Casanova-style fame among the wildlings is that he once had sex with a bear.
  11. For those who find Ms. Daddario appealing, there's a pretty compelling scene in season 1 of True Detective.
  12. I saw this article yesterday -- pretty interesting stuff. I also find TK's story generally pretty interesting, going back to his decision to take the Sabres to arbitration. He's from WNY and was developing into a nice role player for the Sabres. He played 78 games for the Sabres in 2009-10, putting up 10 goals and 26 points. Then, after that season, he took the Sabres to arbitration and got a $1MM award, which the Sabres walked away from by waiving him. He then bounced around with 3 different NHL teams and their AHL affiliates, playing a total of 89 NHL games over the subsequent 5 years before bailing out to the KHL. There was also a fair amount of PAFan-induced psychodrama on this board about the greed and betrayal demonstrated by the Sabres in waiving him, IIRC. Moral of the story: if you're a fringe NHL player trying to make it in the NHL, don't overplay your hand when negotiating your contract. And if you're a poster on this board, not every management decision regarding a fringe player is momentous or avaricious.
  13. Perhaps they had that right -- and as Taro said, whether they did have that right will depend on the facts and the law -- but that's not what you said initially. You said it wasn't fair to criticize the city for walking away from a bad deal made by the prior administration. That is a much different argument than the illegal-conflict-of-interest argument. This is also quite possible, and if so then it may have been the right decision by the city -- but it's a fairly Machiavellian and bad-faith decision that certainly deserves criticism.
  14. Dude. I cited 2 polls, not one, and I said that it's too early to be meaningful. Do you not think Hillary's camp is concerned?
  15. Not sure what you mean by "increased." Surely you don't think more Hillary will get more minority voters than Obama did?
  16. Edmonton wouldn't take Pysyk and a 3rd to drop from 4 to 8.
  17. Interesting. It certainly seems plausible that a lot of Sanders supporters will feel this way, and that her internal polling mechanisms will tell her this. Still, it's hard to believe that a Clinton-Warren ticket or a Clinton-Sanders ticket could deliver enough votes in November. But that brings me back to what I said earlier about no one knowing anything anymore.
  18. Good point, although it's somewhat diminished by your non-use of the quote feature. I also think that "coated" paper (i.e. magazines, etc.) is less biodegradable than plain paper. But we're rapidly approaching the limits of my limited knowledge.
  19. I'm sure this is true for many of those 15%, and it's still far too early for these results to be a meaningful predictor of November, but still: Trump by 5? Hillary's camp must be pretty concerned. My initial reaction is that this wouldn't be to her benefit strategically, since it would put off the independents, but the only clear lessons of this campaign appears to be that (i) people are good and fed up with business as usual and (ii) no one can predict anything.
  20. jad1 -- great stuff, but pls use the "hide spoilers" feature. Thanks.
  21. Do you really not think FB curates those news stories in a politically motivated way? Separately: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/white_house_watch http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/fox-news-poll-bernie-sanders-donald-trump-hillary-clinton Holy mackerel.
  22. It's also worth pointing out that the "97% of scientists" meme is a canard: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2013/02/13/peer-reviewed-survey-finds-majority-of-scientists-skeptical-of-global-warming-crisis/#186711ed171b https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/02/10/the-profiteers-of-climate-doom/ http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702304636404577291352882984274 http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/11/science/earth/what-to-make-of-a-climate-change-plateau.html?_r=1 http://www.businessinsider.com/nasa-scientists-dispute-climate-change-2012-4
  23. Exactly. There is no need to fill up the Earth with garbage. BTW, paper is the biggest culprit -- it comprises something like 40% of worldwide landfill capacity. And it's recyclable! (Of course, the recycling process has its own environmental impact, but that's another discussion.) This is simply untrue, and of a piece with the shouting down of dissenters that pervades the climate change groupthink. Good stuff.
  24. Excellent post. I personally tend towards the smoother single malts -- my favorites are MacAllan and Oban and I don't particularly like Lagavulin or Laphroaig. For something kinda in between, I like Caol Ila.
  25. Awesome. NZ is on my bucket list. And you should post more often! I'm sure inquiring minds would like to know the origins of your Sabres fandom.
