  1. Due to a calf injury, I have withdrawn from the US Open. This marks the 36th consecutive year that I have declared my own ineligibility.
  2. Buffalo absolutely can. There are what, 7-8 million people within a 90 minute drive? (I drive to Toronto in 90 minutes. If it takes you longer, well, maybe I will teach you my secrets for a fee.) People who base statements like this based upon US demographics or US TV market share don't quite get it.
  3. Women's tennis in general. Yeah, it's bigger in a slam, but women's tennis is so tactical and so much fun to watch.
  4. Well, I've been threatening to "blow a gasket" for decades now, and I guess I finally did. I blew my cool. I flipped my lid!
  5. No one has qualified mechs now is my best guess, And thank you for the explanation--this car is less than 5 yrs and fewer than 40K. But it's at the dealer now, and I took full advantage of the fact that I had to Uber home anyway. You get it.... Gotta bump it or something? CTRL-F yielded nothing on my front page, which is at least 25 topics.
  6. I would LOVE to hear this message.
  7. What is a "head gasket"? Why would it break? And why does it take a dealership's service department between 10 and 14 days just to LOOK at it to see if that's the problem?
  8. Epenesa might stick. But otherwise, I've seane what neade to from Beane.
  9. How many of them are even on the team? How many will be in two years? Gabe Davis has to be the worst WR2 in the league. Elam is tenuous. Moss, Ford, Basham, Singletary, already gone. I'm sure Beane is very happy for the late round picks he got for them. Epenesa is ok--solid for what he does.
  10. That's exactly why it should be given less weight, frankly. Other than Mel Kiper (who gets a LOT wrong), draft pundits (who also get a LOT wrong) panned it. Beane got very, very lucky there. And I'm glad he did. But let's also not forget that Mahomes was right there for the Bills the year before (I do not think Beane had been hired yet, though), and while the Bills got an excellent CB out of that, it's not really the same as a QB with two Super Bowl rings. (I believe the other returns from the trade--Edmunds and then some complicated thing with the Rams that I can't quite trace--are gone.) So great. Beane drafted Allen. He hasn't done very well since, regardless of what some inscrutable chart says.
  11. In 2006 you could have said the same about Sabres fans in Carolina.
  12. Because it is pathetic. It was pathetic when Carolina started it and it is pathetic now.
  13. The person II don't remember who it was) who referred to the "powerful owner" was referring to Jacobs, not Pegula.
  14. There's this special place on the Genesee River just for him. It's called "Rochester." Unless he can learn to cook a decent steak, in which case Russell's or Chop House are good options.
  15. What does it even mean? That some guy thought that the Bills did the 6th best job with their first round picks in those years, the 28th best job with the second round pick, etc.? If that's what it is, well, first, it's subjective, second, it doesn't fully cover the relevant time period, and third, it's skewed (for first round) because of Allen. If it's something else, please tell me.
  16. The drafting is outrageously horrible. Fire every scout and start over, or fire Beane and start over.
  17. You are mistaking wealth for power. I don't think Rocky Wirtz has a whole lot of power right now, just for example...
  18. Not the issue. There are ways for journalists, or even sportswriters, to cover those who are ill, in a sensitive and gentle manner. Graham didn't. Whether he was accurate or truthful wasn't the point. We already think he was accurate and truthful.
  19. I don't subscribe, so all I saw was the quote. Maybe, in context, it is a gentler expression.
  20. There's no shame in shooting for the stars and hitting the moon.
  21. 1. Yeah, that wasn't his passion, it was hers, and sadly, she's not able to carry it out right now. So it's time to put it on the shelf. 2. If they had put Healthy Scratch within walking distance of businesses other than HarborCenter and one law firm, it may have succeeded. Sue's Juicery Elmwood does (did? my experience was pre-COVID) an amazing business even though it's behind a federal security gate, because there are enough businesses within walking distance. But trying to get hockey dads to eat their sprouts and drink kale smoothies at the rink on the weekend is doomed to fail.
