Not sure if this is @ me, but I did watch the first season. Great atmosphere and great cast, but it moved too slowly for me. Lots of streaming services' "signature series" are doing that lately, too (but I think BCS was AMC or something).

It is going to be fun to watch the kids come together (or not) this year. Comrie is a good-faith attempt at fixing the situation in net, at least, and Lyu -- I just can't -- is a nice little addition. I can't argue with the method of this rebuild. Maybe things don't work out, guys get hurt or don't jell or don't develop or whatever, but I'm ok with the method.

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #21 Kyle Okposo
Eleven replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Jochen Hecht with leadership skills. He'll wear the C for the year. (Lest anyone think I'm damning Okposo with this: I liked Hecht and thought he was an important, but overpaid, part of the teams he was in.) -
Same. I'm in this solely to root for the US.

The Czechs scare me.

This is what I remember (from a civilian perspective), too.

I have this weak feeling in my stomach that US/CAN are going to continue to dominate group play, and then the Nordics are going to turn it up a notch, as they almost always do. This tournament will be won by some country with a flag that involves a cross and the color blue.

NHLN is the worst. Also, I feel bad for Austria, although they did give us the Habsburgs and Hitler. NM, I take it back; I don't feel sorry at all.

So I just ran into the family of Indy 6th round rookie DT Curtis Brooks. Really nice people! Since Allen isn’t playing, I’m gonna root for the kid to get a bunch of sacks and make the team.

Hey @bob_sauve28 that was a perfect title change, thanks! -
Rochester Americans Have Addressed A Racist Incident
Eleven replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
The crowd who is into this stuff was empowered/emboldened recently. Anyway, not sure this counts as the Amerks themselves *having* a racist incident, more like *responding to* one. Glad they did.- 60 replies

Hey @dudacekwhat happened to these threads? -
Whats the crazy thing you would do for a Stanley cup?

I'd kiss @Hank on the forehead. Maybe even his cheek. -
G-string?

A lot of us can't wear US flag stuff or fly US flags anymore because of the way it's been co-opted by certain groups. It's been this way since about 2003-4. Like @Weave, I'm sorry this phenomenon has been exported northward. EDIT: I miss my US flag swim trunks, but let's not pretend that I'd fit into them today, either!

Yeah, it's terrible. I've been to the Chautauqua Institute. (I've never had the kind of money it takes to maintain an apartment there, though!) It was always a safe space for open discussion about the arts, religion, politics. It was kind of a fun place when one was in an intellectual mood. Until about three hours ago. Now it is as broken as a Tops on Jefferson or an apartment in Louisville. It is horrible. Horrible. And wow--your family had a place there! That--we must talk--is incredible.

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #19 Peyton Krebs

This is a characteristic I think I see in Granato, too. It'll take a little while longer to evaluate him, of course, but I think I see this. -
Good idea; me too.

Oh, please. No one's believing the false naiveté. And the only thing that hasn't worked out in my life so far is marriage. No need to feel sorry. It could have been, but it isn't. It's a countermovement (per above).
-
None of that addresses the point. What happened to you, anyway?
-
Because the symbol of a countermovement borne from hatred for an initial movement dedicated to prevent the killing of innocent black people is probably not worthy of a hockey team's support. But you knew that. Anything more belongs in a politics thread. Preferably on 4chan or truth social. But you knew that, too.

This is the one.
