Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #28 Zemgus Girgensons
Eleven replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
This poll is brilliant. I do think this is his last year as a Sabre. I don't think there will be room for him this time next year. -
Wawrow adds nothing because there is nothing to add. Seriously, this is getting stupid. @SDS @spndnchz @nfreeman can we move this or lock all Araiza stuff? The season starts in ten days, there is no clear evidence in favor of ANYONE involved here (except maybe the plaintiff's lawyer who seems self-determined to look like a clown), and no good serious discussion or conversation can take place in absence of facts. The guy's off the team; done. Delete and/or move, please?
-
There should be a trigger warning or something before I see this.
-
Omigosh enough. You have nothing. I have nothing. No one outside of Matt Araiza and his accuser has anything. I think the movie is called Frozen: Let It Go. The truth will come out and you can judge it then if you still care.

We did, when his attorney stated that she implied she was in college. Again, could be total BS. But we've heard about it.
-
I started college very young myself. And used my college ID to hoodwink a movie theater clerk into allowing me into an NC-17 movie with all my 17+ friends, when I was not yet 17. We all can get anecdotal, but what she said matters, because it is a question of fact in a lawsuit and possibly in a criminal prosecution.
-
No, but it's not best-on-drugged, either.
-
Which his attorney has denied, stating that she identified her school--the name of which is shared by a high school and a college in San Diego, like Villa Maria (formerly?) or Canisius in Buffalo. I'm not going to predict which attorney has it right; what she actually said is a factual issue, though.

I've read enough now to know that this is incorrect. In California, if she misled him, it is.

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #25 Owen Power

I'll go middle-of-the-road with Power. I think he might become the best Sabres defenseman since Schony, but I'll give him a break his first full year. -
Ask Rodman.
-
I think you've got it!
-
I don't know who this is.
-
Don't give that person the attention...
-
Well, that is done. I can debate law, ethics, and morality elsewhere.

There was new information on Thursday, for crying out loud. A ton of it. Indeed. And a punter and a red-shirt freshman, too. I have a tough time seeing the ol' athlete cover up here.
-
Oh, I know you weren't suggesting sympathy. I'm just exclaiming NONE.
-
Which is because--as he also said--the team received new information yesterday.
-
No one is mentioning the possibility that the team DID follow up diligently and made a rational and reasonable decision. That's still in bounds, right?
-
This is way too reasonable a short-term solution for the NFL/PA to have allowed for it in the CBA.
-
US 6, Finland 1.
-
A good guess but no.

I do not think it is just to cut a guy because of an allegation. (This is consistent with my thoughts on the Duke lacrosse team, both Kanes, and others, all posted here somewhere.) I realize the team might need to move on for the good of the team, but that does not make it just. The team needs time to investigate. Perhaps the next CBA will provide for something like this.
