  1. Explanation: "principal point of contact was the head" (I still disagree) "didn't make enough of an effort to make clean check to the body"
  2. Winnipeg was freefalling for a few games, but then looked pretty good in a win against Philly Saturday.
  3. Interesting question. Found this from a year ago: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/archive/index.php/t-1126147.html And from two years ago: So it looks like they charter a private plane operated by Miami Air, same as a handful of other teams.

    playoff line

Deep breath..... 100.0% is rounded up. Even if they win out, it still is THAT unlikely that another team will be able to hold pace and finish ahead of them, according to their methodology. Their methodology is legit. See carp's explanation above. That site is a wonderland for numbers guys like myself.
  6. Hahahaha. I found it, or at least most of it. Figured I'd just post it here:
  7. This will be the most vivid lasting image of Coach Lindy in my mind. That moment made me so proud!
  8. Born in '86, so my first memories were LaFontaine and Mogilny tearing it up, probably in '92, and of course Rob Ray. I don't remember Muckler as the coach per se, but I do remember Ted Nolan.
  9. Nice. Perfect post. I got emotional watching that one. The Rolston promotion reminds me of when the Pens first brought Bylsma up, a young-ish AHL coach who that year ended up winning the Cup (..right?) Too bad the Sabres don't have a balanced enough team to replicate that. For the record, I do give the team much more credit in the talent department than many on here have been giving lately.
  10. You are correct, sir! http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/19920-the-official-beer-appreciation-thread/page__st__80#entry305279 Eleven beat me to it..... While we're at it:
  11. Decent fight tonight, Newbury v McGinn in Philly. Philly wins a good game over NYR. Edit: first win for PHI over NYR since Feb, 2011... Rags taking the last 8 in the series before tonight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkmZPH331Bw
  12. Meh. That's why I was disappointed to learn that there are no out-of-conference games this year. Amerks do an Austin-Houston-San Antonio swing here in a late March weekend though.
  13. This thread makes me so sad... first Sabres game in Raleigh I'll miss in a few years, now that I'm in Texas rather than southwest Virginny. Tough to complain when Hockey's back though. Go Sabres and have fun y'all!
  14. I would guess TV scheduling conflicts with NBC. Or again, length provisioned by the PA.
  15. That's what I was thinking. I wonder if the PA made provisions to avoid Out Of Conference play for this season. Or if the NHL just wanted to avoid it as adding one more little issue onto the pile for now.
  16. Regarding the schedule format... per this TSN video http://video.tsn.ca/...839403/clip/228 ......... 4 games vs. 2 divisional opponents 5 games against the other 2 divisional opponents 3 games against the other 10 conference opponents So, no "interleague" play..... :censored: I suppose I understand the reasoning.
  17. Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted, but I hope that each of you has a wonderful Christmas!
  18. Read for them Matthew 20:1-16 http://usccb.org/bible/matthew/20/ :)
  19. Hey everyone, hope y'all's summers are going well. Not sure how I missed it, and I didn't see it posted here, but the 2012-2013 AHL schedules are up. Here is the Amerks'.
  20. Awesome! I'm flying to Buffalo tomorrow morning, and running the full on Sunday. My brother and sister will the doing the half. I cannot wait! Sunday afternoon, I've got a few friends coming up from Pittsburgh for the Buffalo Hunters' second home game. The Hunters are one of eight teams in the premier season of the American Ultimate Disc League, the first professional ultimate league. Some of their profits actually benefit Hunter's Hope (as in Jim Kelly's son). http://www.thebuffalohunters.com/www/content/hunters-hope After that, I will be getting some wings for the first time year... I haven't yet decided where in Buffalo I will have this feast. Then, we will paint the town red. Hoping for a Game 7 to add to craziness that will ensue. Lastly, my parents will be hosting a BBQ in Rochester on Monday, so I will get to see all my relatives from Buffalo and Rochester. Also, white hots. And last but not least, my mother's homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, which are the best in the world. F'N Fantastic!!!
  21. How good are you at writing proposals to get funding? If you're good enough (REALLY good) then you could be on to something.
  22. Haha, just remembered I saw this after the thread was closed last week. I was a beast at trombone in high school, and have played actively almost constantly since fifth grade, although I haven't played since this past Christmas. I always thought that trombone was relatively easy to play, for the simple fact that playing in tune register-to-register should become trivial compared to other instruments.
  23. At least you have grass! I just moved to Austin, TX, and easily 95% of residential lawns are either not grass, dead grass, or unkempt clumps of crap. Yeah, I'd say that only 5% of the lawns here would qualify for, say, 20th percentile or better in suburban Rochester or Buffalo. My dad would go berserk if he saw how it is down here! Haha, sounds like me last semester. Gotta tell yourself that it'll all be over soon, and sac up! I promise you'll feel accomplished in the end d4rk, at least to some degree (pun intended). Speaking of saccing up, I was also going to post that I might just be one of those old guys. 'Sall good, you gotta embrace those awkward moments, fellas!
  24. If it's just all part of the business, $100M or $50M for Mario compared to the $6M for TO is certainly different. They'll be spending pretty much to the cap this year. They've re-signed a lot of their key players and depth players from last year. They're trying, man.
