The ONLY problem the Houston Aeros had was that the owners of their arena declared it much more profitable to rent out the venue for concerts/shows/etc. rather than AHL games 38 times per year. They filled the sits there just fine. As others have stated, Las Vegas would be interesting regarding season tickets. A relatively large portion would be owned by the casinos, etc., and many seats would not have butts in them. I like what others have suggested; move a team from Florida to QC, and add KC and Seattle/Houston. KC is ready to go; they have backed a huge resurgence in their MLS team.

Haha what did you expect from him?

Nice. Down here, Austin used to have the Ice Bats (actually make sense with the huge bat colony based under one of the bridges downtown here): One of my fantasy football teams this year is called "L'il Donte's Inferno" (Donte Whitner in Bills uni for the avatar)

Looks like it's at 1pm now, based on www.sabres.nhl.com -
I LOVED the Blues logo when it had the red trim. Nowadays I think I dislike it only because they dropped the red!

Hmmm, Boston #7: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/nhl-logo-rankings-no-7-boston-bruins/ So that leaves..... Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, and St. Louis.

Bippy? Is that like a tookus?

Looks like Eller signed..... 4yr $14M total http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=727112&navid=nhl:topheads

Yes, exactly. If the plan is to have all the kids playing in Rochester (I'm not saying that's necessarily the plan), with Buffalo's six being Myers, Weber, Gorges, Meszaros, Ruhwedel, and Benoit, then once you start getting injuries to one or two of them, the kids will be stepping up anyway. I'd say more likely that Myers, Weber, Gorges, Meszaros, Benoit, and Risto start the season as top 6, with Ruhwedel riding the bench?

Gotcha. Yeah the little chunk of Ontario south and east of Hamilton (St Catherines and NF, and NOT including Hamilton) might count. I'd be interested to hear if one of our SabreSpacers from that area would explain where the fanbase boundaries are in that area. Also is there a name for that chunk of Ontario?

I understand your question, but I think this is a bad example. Mississauga is DEFINITELY the Leafs' territory, as it's a suburb of Toronto.

Related video to that one... 14 minutes of pissed off goalies... Although it's missing the instance a few years back when a goalie swung his stick at the goal and cut the ear of his own defenseman.... who was that, Rinne, maybe? EDIT: nope, it was angry dman...... Ballard hits Vokoun's ear:

Must......win?

Cool! It seems really recent that we had 7/14/11, eh? Anyway, this is the best one, right, since they're in the correct order? Martin LW, Perreault Center, Robert RW? Of course, I know people here have argued before here that you should list them in order C-LW-RW rather than LW-C-RW :)

It seems that Iowa should fit in better with the other four Midwest teams (IL, IL, MI, WI) and they could throw Norfolk in with Charlotte and TX, TX, and OK. Then Cleveland with Hamilton, Toronto, Rochester, and Syracuse. And then Utica in with Binghampton and the three PA teams. And finally Adirondack in with Albany, Bridgeport, Hartford, and Springfield.

The Final Word: Describe the NHL 2013-2014 NHL Season in 1 Word

Meh. Although, watching the overtimes last night...... I was squeemish because I didn't want it to end..... -
Yeah. Here it'll hover around 95F until midnight or so before dropping off, so there's not a huge difference between, say, 5pm and 9pm. I will agree with the bolded comment. Once you stop and stretch, then the sweat starts pouring out like a waterfall. It was a tough adjustment when i moved down here (2.5 years ago). An early April 10k at 9am in 83F and sunny was without a doubt the most miserable race I've ever run. To compare, last year's Buffalo Marathon (Memorial Day Weekend) was 40F at the start, maybe 44F at the end, and partly cloudy; ideal race weather!
-
Yep, I'm in Austin TX, and for a few months per year it's either run at 6am or don't run at all. Longer-distance races are like November through April here (because of weather), so a lot of runners I know will bike more over the summer. Also, the cycling outside of Austin (in virtually any direction) is phenomenal. Long farm-to-market roads and whatnot. Longer rides of 40mi to 100mi round-trip are great.
-
I've heard from a cyclist: 10:1 road bike to running 5:1 mountain bike to running I don't know about the fixie, but that's a really long ride on a fixie! So hipster you are :nana: It's REALLY tough to get started on a daily/whatever exercise routine if you've been sedentary for so long. The first two to four weeks (from my experience) can be brutal, but after that it just gets easier each week!

People gain/lose fat in very different places, depending on a lot of things (hereditary, age, etc.). For instance, if I gain fat, it's in my thighs most immediately. Note that weightlifting CAN be cardio, so long as you're working hard and not just putzing around in the gym (the gym ain't no social hour for me). Of course, running, biking, elliptical, swimming, etc. are going to be your more direct ways of getting cardio. (I'm a long-distance runner myself; I'll spare y'all that stuff for now.) And finally, someone mentioned interval training. This can be very effective for those looking to lose fat. With running/biking, this could be one minute of very intense pace every few minutes. For example, at a track, sprint one of the straightaways (100m), and then jog slower or walk the remaining 300m of the lap. On nutrition, "Eat a wide variety of lightly processed foods" is a good simple guide.
-
If you lift weights and then don't get ANYTHING to replenish the muscles within a short time (you'll hear anything from 20min to 60min), it can actually be worse for you than if you didn't even work out at all. You're tearing those muscles apart bigtime, and they're desperate to re-absorb nutrients and heal. If they're not fed immediately, they cannot heal effectively.

Alright, I HAD to look it up, and I found the odds of the Rangers winning the Cup (as of the start of the playoffs, i.e. when we made our brackets). This site had it at 20 to 1: http://www.oddsshark.com/nhl/stanley-cup-futures-0 There were 28 of us who filled out a bracket, so... I guess you could figure that at least one of us would've chosen them?
-
Nice! After the Kings pulled off the comeback on SJ and you realized you were the only one to choose the Kings, it seemed you had a great chance. And now they don't even have to win the friggin thing for you to win the bracket.
