  1. Welcome! Here's a good one. I do everything right-handed except I am lefty at beer pong. I had surgery on my (right) throwing should immediately after college graduation. I guess I played a bit of beer pong that summer and just continued it going lefty. I've was never that great at it anyway (lefty or righty). I was more of a flip-cup stud :D
  2. On tattoos: Like others, I think 99.9% of the time they're awful, and on a girl they a huge turnoff for me. Same goes with piercings... I guess I'm pretty conservative on that kind of stuff. 'Sall good if you have one though; I'm just instinctively not attracted you :P The only time I'd ever consider getting a tattoo: If my college ultimate team had qualified for the national championships when I was playing.
  3. The finals are to begin on Wednesday regardless of what happens in the West: Game 1 Rangers at Blackhawks/Kings Wednesday, June 4 Game 2 Rangers at Blackhawks/Kings Saturday, June 7 Game 3 Blackhawks/Kings at Rangers Monday, June 9 Game 4 Blackhawks/Kings at Rangers Wednesday, June 11 *Game 5 Rangers at Blackhawks/Kings Friday, June 13 *Game 6 Blackhawks/Kings at Rangers Monday, June 16 *Game 7 Rangers at Blackhawks/Kings Wednesday, June 18 http://www.nhl.com/i...id=nhl:topheads Also, an update on our SabreSpace group in the nhl.com bracket challenge: It looks like dudacek and Dudly are the only ones who chose the Rangers correctly out of the East, but neither had LAK or CHI out of the West.
  4. Yup, St. Louis was invisible for weeks after the trade. Shuffling him around with different linemates and he just wasn't finding it. I had to scratch him from my fantasy team during championship week, haha. And this is the owner of last season's scoring title! It is good to see him succeed now, though. Gotta love him.
  5. So, if the Rags beat the Habs in 7, he could come back for Game 7 of the Finals?
  6. I might agree with you here. Perhaps even before they were even eliminated, I'd say. During the Rangers series, it was clear that the Sabres were not playing great hockey, and seemed like such a long shot that they would survive Ottawa AND THEN whoever came out of the West. It was like the best of times, those two runs in '06 and '07. But with the expectations and the way they were playing in '07, it felt like we were fooling ourselves as fans. Like deep down there was a huge knot in my stomach while watchign all of those games. I had also been PO'ed about losing Dumont after seeing how much he meant to them in the playoffs in '06.
  7. That Montreal win was certainly a fun game! Price is a really likable player. Taking a look at the sabrespace group for the NHL Bracket Challenge..... it looks like me, Taro's Terrors, Tankalicious, and dudacek are the only four with both MTL and NYR. Taro and I are the only ones that are 3 for 3 this round. Both of us have Anaheim winning the last of the conference semi's. I just have to go ahead and brag about being atop the leaderboard now while I can :)
  8. Nice! http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Habs+Bruins+Game+viewing+party+Bell+Centre+sold/9837575/story.html "Dress code is red, white and blue."
  9. The 2014 Bills sure should be exciting. Obviously a lot rides on EJ performing and staying healthy. There's a thread on TBD (What if they double-team SW?) discussing that he'll need to make sure to make the right choices with this supposed slew of offensive weapons to throw to. I thought the Stevie trade was inevitable (especially after the Watkins pick) and was initially happy about it, but after reading this thread I am not sure (thanks, Eleven). Not to pick on you, but the Music City Miracle was in January 2000 :P ..............
  10. If the Caps were smart, they'd hire Trotz before Pittsburgh has the chance.
  11. Good one, LGR. For the record, Adams' salary in 09-10 was $550k.
  12. I was curious where LabattBlue was.
  13. For the record, the NHL had three Game 7's on the schedule for last night as well. The other five Game 7's were scheduled for tonight. (Obviously three of these came to be.) See: http://awfulannounci...d-schedule.html The way I see it, the most they can do is try to get the late (western) games alternated so we get the max amount of hockey per night. And they do a good job of that, at least. Although, someone commented about how the Minnesota and Anaheim games both went to intermission at the same time Sunday, and I'd guess the NHL could have done more to avoid that. I'd assume the NHL doesn't want that.... right? (Or, more ad time if the whole hockey continent is watching intermissions?) Oh, also, I thought we had had a separate thread for the Bracket Challenge? But it was at the beginning of this thread. It seems I am at the top of the leaderboard, as I'm 5 for 5. AND I have the three remaining series all going to 7 games, with COL, LAK, and NYR winning those. Looks like there are eight of us that are 5/5 so far, though.
  14. Not sure about that, but there's always this ridiculous circumstance from 1970: http://www.greatesthockeylegends.com/2013/04/five-empty-net-goals-in-one-game.html
  15. I thought for sure you meant this poster, wonder what happened to him? http://forums.sabres.../55-labattblue/ Edit:
  16. Hehe. Yup, Leopold vs. the Leafs at the end of the 2011-2012 season. Sadly, not enough to will the Sabres into the playoffs. It was a fun push though.
  17. I hear Doug Janik is a healthy scratch for the Wolves tonight vs. the 'merks. Y'all remember him, right? Also their goalie Jake Allen is a baller.
  18. While Boston clearly has been the better team, (at least for tonight) Detroit wasn't getting sucked into the B's bullying/pushy-shovy shenanigans. I was hoping that Detroit could squeak a victory out, but that would have been surprising :(
  19. Every team gets at least one Thursday Night game. So, the Bills got the bare minimum.
  20. I did a quick calculation..... a team could mathematically make it into a wildcard slot with a 4-12 record. Here goes: If every the NFC won every interconference game (vs. the AFC), there'd have to be 6*16=96 total wins for AFC teams (aside from games against NFC, each of the 16 AFC teams hosts another AFC team 6 times, for a total of 96 intraconference games). Let's say the four division winners (AFCN, AFCS, AFCE, AFCW) each went 12-4 (all losses to NFC, 12-0 against AFC). There go 48 of the 96 required AFC wins. Let's say the first wildcard team went 10-6 (four losses to NFC and two losses to their division winner). There go 10 more of the 96 required AFC wins. That leaves 38 more wins spread out among the remaining eleven teams. "Best-case" scenario is five of those teams at 4-12, and six of those teams at 3-13. Hooray! What a battle that would be.
  21. Yep, finally get Thanksgiving back after I think a three-year drought? Not including last year's Toronto game. But, no Week 16 or 17.... I can usually count on ONE of those two weeks while home for Christmas..... :censored: Edit: I'm talking about the timing of our home games, of course.
  22. Similarly... I was assigned #7 freshman year of college, and I typically go with that. However, since it's often a battle to get such a popular number, at some point I chose #34 as an alternate. 7=3+4, plus I have a Thurman Thomas jersey I always wear. Single-digit numbers are the coolest.... I always thought so because I was a huge Yankees fan growing up, and I thought it was cool that Derek Jeter and Joe Torres would probably be the last Yankees to wear single digits (all others were previously retired). On that note, interestingly, while I don't pay a lick of attention to baseball anymore (all NHL then NFL then NCAAFB), Paul O'Neill (Yankees RF #21) to this day is the only favorite played I've ever had. (Favorite players could be a cool topic for another thread, I bet.)
  23. No Cory Sarich, either. He didn't play in Game 1 for the Avs due to injury.
  24. Why does he still have TIM-MAY for his avatar? You gotta change that to some clever tank image! Or something mocking Leino! Oh and I hope you figure something out... It's the most wonderful time of the year, can't miss out on it. Where ya located?
  25. Ahhh yes. Very nice, thanks. List of how many buyouts each team has remaining to use this offseason: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/top-five-compliance-buyout-candidates-for-2014/ List of buyouts the happened last year: http://www.capgeek.c...s?compliance=on
