  1. Wow! Is it just not a good time for the economy? Even so, it seems strange that they can't get 19k into an arena... is there some non-obvious alternative to attending the game live?
  2. I had a dream last night that I was the GM of an NHL team, and on Draft Day I was intending to draft a European player named Sven. But he had already done a bunch of photoshoots of himself in a Coyotes uniform prior to the draft, so it was awkward.
  3. Finally committed to Cake at Ommegang Brewery (in Cooperstown)! Friday May 26. Does anyone have any suggestions for attending a show there? It looks like General Admission. Additionally, it looks like I was too late to purchase the additional camping tickets for $15 each. I guess we will probably just drive to a nearby state park and camp there? Oh, also might do Metallica in Denver, they're playing at the Broncos' stadium in June. Also will probably take my gal to Avett Brothers at Red Rocks! (Moving to Colorado next week, but coming back to Rochester for Cake and Tool over Memorial Day weekend.)
  4. Looks like The Eastern Conference Game 1's (Thursday) are the only two that'll overlap in the entire round.
  5. Are we thinking Amerks for Pu next year, then? What are the options?
  6. London Knights eliminated by the Erie Otters in seven games in Round One. Cliff Pu had 2G+5A=7P, with 27 SOG and a -3 in the seven-game series. He also finished the season with 35G+51A=86P, 186SOG and +25 in 63 games during the regular season. Is that good?
  7. Bump again. ANA, PIT, and NSH all have moved on from Round One. CGY, CBJ, and CHI*** have all been eliminated. Six Sabre(s)Spacers had Chicago as their Champ. Only two SS'ers have chosen the first three victors correctly: TrueBlue and "Lukas K". "Lukas K" holds the lead after the bonus for picking PIT's victory in exactly 5 games. *** Apparently it was not a good round for teams hailing from cities beginning with the letter "C". Not looking great for Carolina and Colorado, either.
  8. Link? I didn't realize at the time that Henderson was severely injured(?) during the altercation. Hmm.
  9. We have three leaders after the Ducks completed their sweep of the Flames: 38, Derrico, and "Eric H" were the only ones to predict the Ducks' victory as a sweep. 26 of the other 30 entrants also correctly picked Anaheim. Of note, TrueBlue's SA-CF% had Calgary winning.... womp womp.
  10. Bump - The NCAA is supposed to announce 2019-2022 Frozen Four hosts at 1pm today: https://twitter.com/NCAAIceHockey/status/854325317611261953
  11. "All About Each Individual Poster's Results When Playing With The Lottery Simulator"
  12. They are treating Vegas as if they were the third-worst team this past season, so the Avs and 'nucks have better odds than Vegas does. Since the NHL will draw 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall in the lottery, the Sabres could end up with #1, #2, #3, #6, #7, #8, or #9. I would look at it this way: The Sabres have a 59.6% chance of drafting 7th or 8th. 13. Did anyone else see a fan with a white Sabres Hasek jersey, in the front row behind Marc-Andrew Fleury yesterday? Saw him during the celebration of the BJs' first goal, I believe. EichSnipe?
  14. For the record, you can create a spoiler simply by bookending the spoiled text as follows (remove the two *'s): [*spoiler]SPOILED TEXT[/*spoiler] Here's how you'd do it for real (Click 'Reply' to my post to see exact text, but it's just removing the two *'s from the line of text above):
  15. :D More like a weird fixation... A combination of fascination/nerdyness, boycotting learning anything in English class (where I did all of my studying), and the hilarity of getting my name on a plaque in the Math Showcase. As co-captain of the Math Team, I convinced our advisor to reinstate the annual pi competition on Pi Day that year. And I can go 14 digits now, apparently.
  16. I should also mention that when I memorized and recited 483 digits of pi (in senior year of high school), I did something similar. four-digit years, seven-digit phone numbers, and some others such as player numbers. B-)
  17. Not even Josie's? I at least know my girlfriend's, mother's and sister's... just in case, ya know.
  18. So, "Vegas" will become the third U.S. City with exactly 1 NHL team, 1 NFL team, 0 MLB teams, and 0 NBA teams, along with Buffalo and the city alluded to in the above post. I guess the short list of sports towns that are just like Buffalo is now even stranger, huh? By the way, I wonder if kids these days consider a "Big Four" in American pro sports leagues? It was definitively those four when I grew up in the nineties. Was it something else before that (like in the 60s, 70s, 80s)?
  19. :D to the bold. Yeah that makes sense. As posters have supposed in the other thread, hopefully the delay wouldn't cause GMTM to miss the boat on some of these other (currently) available coaches.
  20. Thanks for all the quick reporting and analysis, boys! Can you explain this? Is that when he will talk with ownership?
  21. because I looked it up: http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?aggregate=0&gameType=2&report=skatersummary&pos=S&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20162017&seasonTo=20162017&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=pointsPerGame Stamkos (17 games played) and two other players (1 games each) were actually ahead of him, too, so without filtering by minimum # of games played, Jack actually shows up as 14th.
  22. Looks like it was between TB's Corsi bracket and Eleven, with Eleven taking home the 'ship: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/24095-2016-nhl-bracket-challenge/?p=827645
  23. I believe the idea is that you can't see one another's brackets until they're final (i.e., 7pm Wednesday). Otherwise, you could copy or alter your bracket based on what everyone else has...... Not that anyone would copy yours! :w00t:
