  1. Close the complaints! Open F'N Fridays! It's hockey tiiiimmmmeeeeee!!!!
  2. The Tuck Rule call was the correct call. However, I'm curious: If Scott didn't SCORE on that play, the play is not automatically reviewed. So if he had just fell on it and not scored, we could have still had the turnover, UNLESS Cincy threw the red flag. You think Concy would've thrown it? At the time, it didn't even occur to me that it may have been an incomplete pass.
  3. Can you believe there hadn't been an All About Guns thread yet? I have Shotgun and Rifle merit badges, if that counts for anything?
  4. Wanted to share because so much gets lost in the TBD mess. A very cool 4-minute segment on CBS morning show on Bills tailgating. Made me miss home... http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7382973n&tag=contentMain;contentBody GO BILLS!
  5. Taro -- see biodork's post, she hit the nail on the head. The only parts of academia that are any cushier than a job of similar qualification in the "real world" (industry) are the potentially flexible hours and relaxed work environment. And these two benefits are awesome! I will miss the flexible hours, personally. But, add in the increased stress, hours/week, and all the stupid political crap. I think the pressure of deadlines, etc. you mentioned is very often greater than in the real world. Not sure of your experience in academia... I suspect that it depends on how strong the research institution, as CO stated; I'm sure there are less stressful positions and concentrations to be found in academia. You can be in the right OR wrong position in academia, and you can be in the right OR wrong position in industry. My $0.02...
  6. I've been waiting for years for just ONE decent, promising Bills player to come along and justify spending $$$ on a jersey (and a horrendous navy blue/pajamas uni at that). Now that they're on the up (knock on wood) I'm thinking a white Fitzy would be a respectable choice. I'll probably wait patiently for offseason sales online, though; until then, my classic blue #34. Great minds think alike? I've got a current home Goose and current away Myers.
  7. White onion makes a good chaser for shots of crappy liquor. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.
  8. Eh... good points, but: 1. NE* scored on that drive anyway Edit: 2. Still 11 minutes left, Pats* with the ball at Bills 20, Bills down by 7. 3. 1:43 for the Pats* to potentially TIE 4. With 14 seconds, you know we'd all be expecting a letdown, but you gotta admit that the odds would've been against the Pats* there! Regardless, it's a great day to be a Buffalo fan. If the Bills win at Cincy Sunday, it will be the first time since ??????????? that the Bills are undefeated when the Sabres begin regular season play. (I already checked, and they had already lost to AZ Week 5 in '08 before NHL started.) In the spirit of the buy/sell/trade thread: BUY Buffalo Pro Sports.
  9. And to think that earlier I was going to complain that my thesis isn't writing itself! That's what I thought about a career in academia before I came back for grad school. Key word: before. To really, really make it cushy in academia (at least engineering/sciences, I'll say), you have to make it at a top school, and then you've got years of political b.s.: scrambling for grants, endlessly writing proposals, competing for alliances between professors, networking with completely fake douches from universities across the country, etc. Once you get tenure, though, you get to breathe a wee bit... I started off on a PhD track, because I really enjoyed teaching; then I realized how a career in academia really is, and I'm taking my Masters and running. Be wary, young Liger. Better? :pirate:
  10. A few comments: Nick Barnett was an absolute MONSTER on Sunday. The man tackles so aggressively. He's fast laterally, and seems to have great field awareness/anticipation. He seemed to be in on every tackle. And he doesn't seem to be getting too much love for causing the fumble that was recovered by Batten. And Kyle Williams seems to be going unnoticed. Is that a good thing for a tackle? CJ Spiller: starting to get recognition, being in on a few great offensive gains, being double-covered because he is a threat. But I also noticed that he was a very solid blocker on a few plays as well, on Freddy runs and screen plays. If he keeps it up, this pair will start to be huge for the Bills, especially once they have a lead (as in the KC game Week 1). And dare I say, our run blocking has looked formidable?
  11. It would look something like this:
  12. Drinks will be ON you, or IN you? Why are you in a boat if there is no water near your house? Maybe, just maybe, I'm glad it's Friday, too. Here's my $0.02: Virginia finally just did whatever was necessary to start selling Fat Tire in this state. All the bars here are advertising it like crazy, it's actually really funny.
  13. I'm not sure if I have the time or attention span to devote to one the Sabrespace leagues, but I just named my team "Jay McKee's Shinpads" in another league I've played in for the last few years. Won it last year with "Labatt Brewwwwww".
  14. Yes. A close relative has had at least 40 season tickets for the past thirty years. I am passing along what his STH rep (who changed last year) has said. Can't disagree with this, though. That's why I advise to take with a grain of salt. There are plenty of reasons to keep the Bills here, and at least as many reasons to move them. I always thought that they'd dwindle here in Buffalo until Ralph passes, then the highest bidder would do what he wants with them. Hopes have been raised a couple times, with speculation (or dreams) of big guys Golisano or Pegula saving the team. I guess we'll find out soon enough. And enjoy it while it lasts.
  15. So... I got word today that it is "very likely" that the Dec. 24 game vs. Denver will be the Bills' last in Buffalo. --says a STH rep for the Bills... Take with a grain of salt though, please.
  16. 'Cause the walls were shaking The earth was quaking My mind was aching And we were making it and YOU...........
  17. Supposedly we felt it for ~5 seconds here in Blacksburg, VA (3 hours SW of the epicenter), although I didn't notice -- I guess I'm a good vibration absorber. Others in NJ, MD, DC apparently felt it for ~20 seconds.
  18. Spiller (Div. I) vs. Jackson (Div. III)? Makes sense.
  19. Simply beautiful... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJXc0NRCmRQ
  20. Damn, hope you're ok. I was in an accident Friday -- our driver fell asleep and we crashed into a light pole on the left side of the road. Thanking God all week that there was no oncoming traffic, and the only injury sustained by any of the four passengers was a seatbelt burn on my neck. Also related, I once had a baby blue Prius rental car on a business trip in Saint Louis (my only option). Needless to say, my co-workers had a field day with the jokes/flamboyant comments all week for that one. ooohhhhhh...... too far.
