  1. They were discussing the idea of Superdraft on WGR this afternoon. They even called it Superdraft.
  2. And now Minny's backup backup goalie in his next ten?? Randall's lost his mind!
  3. Yeah I remember Sabres called it versus Flyers, 2000ish?
  4. I edited my original post above... Yeah, TBD is phenomenal for getting up-to-the-second news. But, if you're trying to follow a discussion on TBD, you need to be following it constantly or you'll be left behind. Or if you are away from the website for 24 hours, it's tough to catch up. That's why this thread here on SS is generally good.... we have been good about at least making mention of the big headlines regarding the Bills, without pages of muck if I need to catch up.
  5. Turns out there is nothin' to see here: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/178152-the-bickering-bills-are-back-rumor/ (Edit... Clarification: rumor unfounded per original post)
  6. Agreed, that game was a ton of fun. I've been in the minority before, but low-scoring and/or Devils-style hockey has always been just fine with me. There's plenty enough going on to entertain me, I don't need 7 goals in a 6-minute game.
  7. Hmmmm it looks like you're right... I checked a bunch of teams for this year... none had five 20-goal scorers. Avalanche had five last year. Edit: Pens last year too
  8. If it makes you feel better, there was a concert at the Honda Center on Saturday night (New Kids on the Block with very special guests TLC and Nelly!!) These things happen all the time. Now... why do we both WC games on at the same time tonight?
  9. Bump... reminder tat there IS hockey on tonight (right now). Eichel at least looks very confident playing with big boys, skating well.
  10. Nice one! finally found video:
  11. I'm no draft expert. Is there any concern about AJ Cann's height? Offencive lineman still available: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/tracker/by-round#dt-by-round-input:1/dt-tabs:dt-by-position/dt-by-position-input:ol/dt-by-grade-input:1
  12. If CGY and MIN both win their second round series, Isles' pick is #19. If CGY wins second round series and MIN loses theirs, Isles' pick is #20. If MIN wins second round series and CGY loses theirs, Isles' pick is #20. If neither CGY nor MIN win their second round series, Isles' pick is #21.
  13. It's really tough to tell, with all the differing opinions on Mariota the past couple of weeks. We'll never truly know the Titans' perception on him (and weighing in their forecast for their current QB situation) unless they draft him.
  14. Sounds like a nice little plan for the Habs. What about St. John's, though? I seem to remember that the team gets a ton of fan support out there, but there has been concern because it's so far for travel.
  15. More on what is becoming of the six franchises losing their AHL teams in 2015-16: Hamilton Bulldogs were sold to the Habs, but the previous owner purchased the OHL's Belleville Bulls and moving them to Hamilton for the 2015-16 OHL season. The AHL's Manchester Monarchs essentially swapped with the ECHL's Ontario Reign, both as affiliates of the LA Kings. Manchester is now an ECHL team and Ontario an AHL team. Adirondack Flames are moving to Stockton, remaining as Calgary's affiliate. Calgary purchased the ECHL's Stockton Thunder, and will be moving them to Glens Falls for the 2015-16 ECHL season as the Adirondack Thunder. Norfolk Admirals are moving to San Diego, remaining as Anaheim's affiliate. Edmonton's ECHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condor's, will move to Norfolk for the 2015-16 ECHL season as the Norfolk Admirals. (Recall that Edmonton is moving its AHL affiliate, the OKC Barons, to Bakersfield for 2015-16). Speaking of the OKC Barons, they will be straight up ceasing operations. The Worcester Sharks have no replacement team, either. Recall that the Sharks just created a new team called the San Jose Barracuda, to play in the AHL out of the same arena as the parent Sharks.
  16. Good call. At the very least, it's a little taste of the big leagues for Jacky boy to chew on for a few months... motivation during summer training, a measuring stick for where he is/wants to be, what specific parts of his game need work to be NHL-caliber/NHL-ready. That kinda thing.
  17. WAS-NYR for the fourth time in five years; WAS won in five games in 2011, NYR in seven games in 2012 (ECSF) and 2013. I recall both of those seven-game series being quite awesome, and I'm excited for this series. MTL-TB would be a rematch from last year, remember that Montreal swept. However, TB swept MTL in five regular season games this year. So that provides a little bit of a storyline. Is there a clear favorite?
  18. Here's a summary of the changes for 2015-16. Here's a summary of all 30 affiliations for 2015-16. Ok, so three new affiliations were announced this month: CBJ's with Lake Erie (Cleveland): Seems like a fantastic regionalization move for the CBJ's Avs with San Antonio: This gets the Avs' closer to home. Yotes with Springfield (Mass.): This doesn't solve much for the Yotes???? (Yotes previously with Portland.) And also recently: Florida Panthers announced the switch from San Antonio back to the good ol' Portland Pirates The Jets will successfully move the St. John's team to Winnipeg. The Habs will move operations from Hamilton to St, John's. So St. John's will still have a team (awesome), and I guess there will be no Hamilton???? Weird. Summary: We now have a five-team AHL division in California (three SoCal, two NoCal): San Diego (ANA), Ontario (LAK), Bakersfield (EDM), San Jose (SJS), Stockton (CGY). The other two NHL Pacific Division teams' affiliates are east coast: Utica (VAN) and Springfield (ARI)... so as far as proximity improvements, both are losers here. 2014-15 AHL Midwest Division remains intact (five teams): Milwaukee (NSH), Chicago (STL), Rockford (CHI), Grand Rapids (DET), Lake Erie (CBJ now). 2014-15 AHL West Division loses one (OKC); four teams remain: Texas (DAL), San Antonio (COL now), Charlotte (CAR), Iowa (MIN). So, Winnipeg's new AHL should slide somewhere in the West/Midwest shuffle, I imagine???? This bodes well for the Amerks, as we now have three Western Conference divisions (California, West, Midwest). Thus I imagine the Amerks' division will be in the Eastern Conference, thus we won't be missing out on matchups with other EC teams anymore, haha. This still strands Charlotte in with the "West" teams. Grand Rapids and Lake Erie also eastern time zone. Another option (just my idea) could be four divisions in two conferences (like the NHL), with 14 teams in the west (5 California teams + 2 Texas teams in one division; 5 midwest teams + Grand Rapids and Lake Erie in the other). This helps slide Charlotte to the east, and maybe(?) helps Texas teams with travel.
  19. Finally, some semblance of a 2nd round schedule is announced: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=765430&navid=nhl:topheads We are due for a new thread at some point soon. Yuck... NHL continues to mess it up by overlapping the two Western Conference games on Sunday evening....
  20. Very nice! Thanks for the reminder. For what it's worth, I just booked the Knights Inn on Spring St. at $91/night for Sat-Sun nights... Can walk to the stadium, and a $7 cab to downtown. I'd like to hear any updates on your end. TwoBillsDrive is also good to monitor for stuff like this (where the party's at, tickets, etc.)
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_franchise_owners http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NBA_team_owners Yes on Avs/Nugs and Washington and Toronto.... 76ers/Devils, too. I should add NYR and Knicks, too.
  22. Maybe he means that he doesn't like the same owner for both an NBA and NHL team? That it could be a bad situation if this guy is clearly NBA-hungry and throwing in an NHL team just for convenience? Are there any current NHL team owners that also own an NBA team?
  23. NYI manage only 11 shots in Game 7. Yeah I feel like I've never seen that before this year, and seen it two or three times now...? So... can the NHL give us a start date for Round 2 games now??? Was the uncertainty of TB-DET really holding them back from deciding when to start the West? Well, maybe.
  24. Nice. Today I learned that RJ was born "local" (St. Catharines, ON... although raised in northern Ontario) and that he currently resides in Ontario.
