  1. for those wondering what that meant, like myself:
  2. cool. cool cool cool.
  3. I just don't see the parallel between the two though. That was merciless justice. Was it too far? Probably. But it had some justification. This was straight up killing people that she didn't need to kill, who had never wronged her or committed atrocities or enslaved people. She had won, it was over. She could have walked through those streets untouched. But she torched them. You can absolutely draw a line from the masters being crucified to this, but I think the showrunners left a lot of that line un-drawn.
  4. He was my second choice behind Housley the last time for me, so take that as you will. I feel like he's kind of "Gronberg, but I can actually convince T-Pegs to hire him"
  5. War is death. This was more than that. This was murder.
  6. Counterpoint: while Dany has never really had a problem with killing, she has always purported herself to be a Queen of the people. She's killed leaders, slavers and armys, but for the most part she has avoided whenever possible killing civilians. She's spent her life as a ruler FREEING those people. When Drogon killed a young girl she felt horrible about it. Was that a bit naive? Sure. Dragons are machines of death. Fire and Blood. Its who they are, and who she, Dany the Targaryen, is. But Dany the woman always thought she was better than that. This was DEFINITELY outside of her established character to this point. She could have blown up the Red Keep without touching those civilians. But something snapped. The Targaryen appeared. And I'm ok with this as the end point for Dany's character, but I wish they had shown their work a little more in the show. Again, this season is just rushed. A few more episodes to show that turn coming on would help a lot. I think in the BOOKS, GRRM is setting up for that a bit better. There's a reddit post that I found earlier that goes over a lot of it, but I can't find it right now. I have a running canon of how I would have done this season in my head in a way that would still hit all the major plot points, but would have been a bit more satisfying (to me, anyways). I've got to see the end game before I can solidify it, though.
  7. God, its just so rushed. This should have been the second to last season, or should at least have been 3-4 episodes longer. Its nice that the episodes are an extra 15 minutes long, but its not enough.
  8. yeah, I don't actually think thats going to happen, or even make any sense, haha. Should have made that more clear that I was joking. Though, THEORETICALLY, she could kill and take her face, and then abdicate to Jon as Dany.... naw, not enough time. Could be interesting though.
  9. Arya kills Dany, takes her face, rules in her stead.
  10. Best episode of the season. Too bad they didn't know how to develop the characters in a way that made it make more sense, but Dany burning innocents? Northman, the supposed heros, as rapists and murderers? Yeah, thats the GRRM I know. My picks for likeliest to end up on the throne at the end, ascending: 5) Dany 4) Gendry 3) Jon 2) Sansa 1) No one
  11. All four finalists for the Euro Leagues are from the EPL. Spurs v. Liverpool for Champions League Chelsea v. Arsenal for Europa I think its the first time all 4 teams have been from the same nation.
  12. I swear I can't day drink any more. If I have a handful of beers consecutively I WILL be asleep at some point in the next 4 hours.
  13. A whole season should have been about Night's King and the WWs. If they had devoted at least 3 or 4 episodes to them just beating the crap out of Man? That'd have been worth it at least. The whole damn series has been supposed to be "all of this squabbling, the scheming and plotting and killing over the throne, it means nothing because the White Walkers are coming." But they make him into a one-battle joke, and the finale is about Cersei and stupid ballistas (which the keep calling scorpions to personally annoy me, I'm reasonably sure) and Dany AND Tyrion AND Varys AND every single military all of a sudden being extremely bad at their jobs? bleh. I honestly wouldn't even be that upset if I thought there was any chance GRRM would actually finish this damn thing off himself.
  14. https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a27372333/game-of-thrones-season-8-episode-4-analysis-spoiler-recap-review-writing-failure/ Pretty well sums up my opinions of this season. What a waste.

    [OT] Tattoos

I don't think I could get into branding. I've burnt myself to many times on accident to want to do it on purpose, haha. How was the healing process on that? I'd assume its worse than a tattoo.

    [OT] Tattoos

My grampa had 2, one was visable with a t-shirt on but was just his name (Thats right, he had his own name tattooed on his arm. The more I think about it the more I love it.) The other was a Native Chief on his upper arm (around where mine is) which was pretty droopy by the time I remember it. My mom always used them as examples of why you shouldn't get tattoos, but he never seemed ashamed of them ( a LOT of sleeveless shirts, or no shirts, in the summer). I never asked him if he regretted them.
  17. I thought it was pretty good. I'll agree that Thor needed something more, but I'm also glad they did just magic him back into good shape. I think Professor Hulk needed a more of an arc, and Captain Marvel was basically an after thought (though a pretty bitchin' after thought). Still, they had a VERY heavy lift here. Closing up a decade of stories in a meaningful and heartfelt way is really tough, especially when its not just one person's story, but 6. I think, in general, they did a good job with it. Don't think too hard about time travel. I don't think any movie has ever done it in a realistic way, because there IS no realistic way. It always leaves holes somewhere. But it was a nice way for them to revisit the old movies and didn't feel too heavy handed to me. Also, its a comic book movie at its core, thats just a part of the game.

    [OT] Tattoos

I have one, just got it last summer. The picture is from right after the artist finished. I started with some really complex designs and slowly winnowed it down to what I got done. I basically did the design myself by mashing up some silohuettes of mountains and the Buffalo skyline I found online. I went back and forth on which way to orient it on my arm, but I knew I wanted the skyline to be blue and the mountains to be green, and I liked how with the blue it looked like the skyline was reflecting in a lake. I'll probably get more. My sister and I (she already has a couple tats and has plans to get more) have discussed getting sibling tattoos, but we need to convince my brother. I'd love to get one on my fore-arm, and where I work now that'd be fine, but I do always worry a bit about future jobs. My arms are stupid long and shirts don't fit right, so I rarely wear long sleeves that aren't rolled up.
  20. I'd have to go back and look, they looked like metal to me. Could be wrong though.
  21. I mean its a cool scene, no doubt. And I'll grant some amount ignoring strategy for plot development. But they didn't even have dragonglass weapons. There was no option besides "they all die".
  22. Anyone have a suggestion for duct cleaning in WNY? Looking to get ours done.
