  1. I don't buy Erhoff is on the board unless the Sabres get a kitchen sink. Too many years left on his contract for Sabres to have to move today... maybe during draft, but not necessarily now. So what time do we start hearing actual movement? Noonish?
  2. Ah the WWE has come to the trade deadline... can we get some reverb in there an increasing volume! :P
  3. I agree, seems like we should have the day off like the Canadians.... shhhh....don't tell my boss.
  4. Jeez wish my brother still worked there, maybe he could deliver. It would be a 30 year old pie unfortunately. Touche'
  5. #Kings pushing late for Cammalleri, teams don't want to lose out, still believe he moves to East, original offer #NSS #NHL #tradedeadline Been reading on IPhone all day at work but check twitter without getting caught, besides too busy except for glances... Just saw this.
  6. Ah Shrader, you are my kind of pot stirrer... trouble maker. Luv the line of thinking. Prodding the media to do their job. Wonder who will pick up your story line?
  7. On the surface, that makes a lot of sense except the Pink elephant in the room, how to best handle TN. I like the 3 year contract idea and I don't blame TN for wanting a little time to think things over despite Stinkberry's comments. That makes sense, however, logically, as much as I hate to say, the Sabres better come up with a plan B fast... thinking Teppo has the right temperament for a plan B if necessary.
  8. Dreger is stating Detroit interested in Erhoff but asking price too high. Sabres don't need to drop price, he is signed for a while and there is no immediate need to trade him unless they get what they want. Detroit will have to pony up say Tartar and a pick at least. Not seeing it happen.
  9. NBC Sports should can Dullberry for all Sabre games. He still has a burr up his rear end from getting his butt kicked by Sabres D like Schoenfeld. What a ######. Sounds like NBC needs to put him on another break... Send them a message on twitter: https://twitter.com/NHLonNBCSports
  10. Interesting write up on NHL page: NHL Site Trade Deadline Primer Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny is in a similar situation as Callahan. The Denver Post reported over the weekend Stastny might be traded if he and the team can't agree on a new contract or at least make headway toward one before Wednesday. The Avalanche are a playoff-bound team and are understandably leery about disrupting their chemistry, but they also don't want to lose Stastny for nothing in the offseason. It's a bit more cut and dried with New York Islanders left wing Thomas Vanek, and Sabres forwards Matt Moulson and Chris Stewart. The Islanders and Sabres are not playoff-bound this season. Vanek and Moulson are targeting big paydays when they hit the free-agent market on July 1. There will be no hometown discounts given, so it makes sense for them to be on the move before the deadline. Stewart is signed through next season with a salary-cap charge of $4.15, but Buffalo GM Tim Murray might be intent on moving him for more future assets to help his rebuild. The Los Angeles Kings have been the rumored destination for Vanek. It makes a lot of sense for Kings GM Dean Lombardi to try to get him. Despite their 3-0 record since the NHL returned from the 2014 Sochi Olympics, the Kings are still 28th in the NHL with 2.32 goals per game. Vanek would give L.A.'s offense the jolt it needs similar to what Jeff Carter did for the Kings two years ago. Vanek has 44 points in 47 games with the Islanders and is coming off a three-point game in a loss to the Florida Panthers on Sunday. The Kings, though, could also be targeting Moulson, who used to be part of the organization and is goalie Jonathan Quick's brother-in-law. However, Shero is never shy in these situations and he might want to get in on the Moulson sweepstakes. Either way, Moulson appears to be in a good situation as a guy who could go play with his brother-in-law in L.A. or with Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh. First Time I have heard of Pitts interest in Moulson.
  11. LOL, no but you might want to think about the purpose of this thread. I don't buy the way this whole thing is going down. I think it is bad for the Sabres and despite your opinion of this thread and its author, so stirring the pot a little more, imo is appropriate. If something like this can generate a reaction, any reaction, it has served its purpose. If nothing else it has irritated the hell out of the Sabres management apologists... and added another vein to the discussion of how poorly the Sabres management still is.... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED  And as a passionate fan, I couldn't agree more. If TPEgs were in Toronto, they would have burning Efigees of him by now and the coals would already be hot. I couldn't imagine what Don Cherry would be saying in a burning Red Suit. P.S. Lafontaine and Nolan wouldn't be unscathed either, let alone Black and Battiste. Murray might be the only one still with a pass, but even he might have a caricature... say PUG face... just saying, not judging.
  12. I hear you but the dramatic language, though hyperbole, is so much fun to use and in this case more like a cattle prod to keep the weasels who created this problem squirming. I think someone's head should role and I want a scapegoat. If Battista is the designated sacrifice... fine... if it be someone else so be it, but someone in TPegs inner circle should fall on their sword and the sooner a volunteer comes forward the better. It has to happen.
  13. Get well soon... isn't the front office saga enough for you?
  14. White with a Blues sticker thrown on kinda like a kids goalie mask. That being said, nice to see a Blue and Gold team playing well and not in turmoil.
  15. I agree it sounds like Murray was probably not involved. I am just wonder who or what and if it was PLF personal deal or someone else like Battista. Nolan seems to reacting like is was more than something personal to PLF, but like I said, if the Sabres lose Nolan as a result of any problem with PLF, this is more than a P.R. mess, it is a major screw up not having kept Nolan in the loop. His reaction obviously shows he wasn't kept in the loop and that was and is stupid. Coalition building doesn't seem to be a strong suit of the new business class which is why you get these kind of foul ups with greater fall-out than should be.
  16. After reading the Buffalo News article about the situation, Joe Battista's name came up again. Who is this guy and why is he meddling with the Sabres. Is he the reason for this turmoil and as has been intimated in a few mentions, should he really be part of the Sabres operations? "The key difference is Pegula’s cronies are here in the building and having direct, on-the-scene impact. Joe Battista, who carries the title of vice president of hockey-related businesses, is nothing more than a longtime Pegula buddy who has no business being around an NHL operation. Nolan certainly seemed unhappy to get the word to pull Ott and Miller from the lineup from Battista. Murray said he was still on the phone working the trade and time was certainly a factor, as the game was less than an hour away. But Battista has exactly zero NHL experience before this year. He spent the last 26 years at Penn State and was a longtime coach of its club program before facilitating Pegula’s $88 million donation for the university’s arena. Battista is clearly here to help with the growth of HarborCenter. You can bet LaFontaine didn’t like how he was becoming a player on the NHL side of the business. Black said Battista’s role has not grown, but others will tell you it has. Murray, remember, is still a rookie GM. You don’t send an NHL neophyte down to tell the head coach an hour before a game his captain and franchise goaltender have to sit because they’re traded. Bad optics for sure." BN, By Joe Harrington. This is pretty damning His resume from Penn State: resume He has some hockey experience, but not any NHL experience. Seems like little more than a well connected gopher and endowment guy. I can't see how he is part of this unless he got over his head and somehow convinced TPegs he was doing the right thing... by meddling. The LaFontaine situation smells like something higher up... Ted Black or someone else who has Pegula's ear that we haven't heard about yet. Still, this begs the question, who screwed this up and anyone have a sense if it was Battista?
  17. And now Ted Nolan is hemming and hawing. TPegs screwed the pooch on this one letting Murray go around Lafontaine. As I said before if the Sabres lose Nolan, this is more than a P.R. blunder. It is a major screw up. Nuts this is very disappointing.
  18. That is fine, but I don't understand why this could not have been handled in house. It sounds like an ill managed political campaign that can't keep its own people in line instead of quietly resigning to be with family with nothing further heard about the matter. I was also upset when it sounded like Nolan might be gone too. That double whammy would be too much too deal with. Like I said, I was just beginning to like the Sabres again despite the losing. Appearances are important, yes winning is too, but I gotta have both and both PLF and Nolan are part of that positive image for my view of the Sabres while they are rebuilding. I was in Washington during one of the Murray reigns and couldn't stand the way the guy ran the Capitals and his mealy mouthed explanations. I hope this one isn't of the same ilk.
  19. There was talk on one of the early discussions that a strong GM might make PLF temporary. I believe PLF even said something to that effect at one point, but I could be mistaken.
  20. We all knew LaFontaine was probably going to leave once a decent GM was hired, but I agree with the above, the timing of the laundry and the airing of it is embarrassing. Patty should have been kept on to just after the deadline and quietly resigned if this was the case. A GM title means management, this was not...
  21. I want both... a good GM with people skills and Nolan should be given a respectful contract, not the kitchen sink, but a respectful contract. If not it shows Sabres players what kind of guy Murray is and they should be afraid...
  22. If all that happens is PLF steps down, despite appearances, I am okay with it. If both he and Nolan are gone then this cannot be a good thing during trade deadline negotiations. Wonder what has happened.
  23. I really don't understand this crap, why the power struggle? I was just beginning to like what was going on... But this doesn't sit well and can't be good during trade deadline deals. If I am Nolan, I hand in my resignation right now and take Girgenson's with him. This just smell like Lake Erie when I was a kid.
