  1. Yeh but the closet rink to that is the Stamford Twin Rinks near NYC
  2. In regards to the NYC area... my bet is that rink time is problematic... doubt the NHL could afford MSG, there is always something going on there and there really isn't any rinks in NYC other than MSG that can handle a crowd... you would have to go up to Westchester right now or at least until the new Islanders facility is built. The Barkley Center is also busy but maybe a little more amenable, but not sure, especially once the Isles leave.
  3. Just got diagnosed with the C word... dont know yet if malignant but after passing a second kidney stone in a week and a half with some blood my urologist... all men over 50 should have one... wanted to do a urine sample and CT scan. Saw the stones and a weird shadow. Blood came back positive in urine... not in good way.., so did a scope, sure enough small tumor in my bladder... caught it early Thank God... for a kidney stone... who knew. They excise it laparoscopically by putting three holes in belly... what really sucks is I have to a catheter for a week... sigh.. Told my wife upon result of scope I have 2 days to live... she told me to f off appropriately.

  11. It depends on how well doing so helps the NHL expand its market share of sports revenue... ie by including women who are a growing segment of earners and sport participants. Not sure from a purely economic sense if this is good longterm strategy or not? Maybe and what is that timeline?
  12. Agree, though they may view it as a political decision and are trying shake more support for their efforts in the current political climate. Dont be surprised if the women's movement steps up and makes it uncomfortable for the owners. Not sure it gets them where they want... especially as you said with all the other stuff going on, their timing kinda sucks. Politically though the timing makes sense.
  13. Not sure that it is the fastest most athletic and the rest of your argument is the issue. I do think men tend to watch men's sports at a higher rate than women watch women's sports and tend to spend lots of money on them. Yes women watch men's sports, but not near the same rate and you usually see them with their significant other when they do. If women supported women sports more and I am not sure it is the same priority for them it is for men, then maybe there would be more money available for professional women's sports. This may change as we see women much more involved in athletics lately, but I still think it is a difference in priorities that may never fully change. Can there be enough attention to make certain sports viable financially... not sure.
  14. Generally, I agree... the 16 games is only part of what these women play... they do play all the exhibition tournaments and world championship games as well. Don't know if they receive compensation for them or not and that may be part of their argument. Though the NHL has little do with those effort. The problem I see is by cutting themselves out of the NHL sponsorship they probably are limiting the amount of women who can keep training and actually playing meaningful games, while growing the sport. It is too bad.
  15. Not sure who is giving them advice or it may be its too big a commitment to not earn a certain basic salary and insurance especially as these women age. I can see the conundrum on both sides. Why is it worth all my time and effort if I can earn more elsewhere even though I love the sport and if I cannot make a basic salary and insurance benefit it probably isnt worth the effort for a lot of these women if they have other career opportunities. That being said if the NHL doesnt deem it financially sustainable even from a sponsor marketing standpoint at that level... it is tough to keep supporting the league...
  16. Risto and a player/pic coming back is what I meant, should have qualified
  17. I am still hoping for a trade to move up and nab Turcotte, not sure it can happen and probably involves Risto. Is that worth doing?
  18. Also not sure Vancouver does it, Nylander boys appear to be underperforming, not a question of talent imo, maybe heart? or drive... not sure but something is missing in those two. Mostly it appears to show up when they need to take it to the next level and for whatever reason dont seem to be able to...
  19. True but nerves tend to ball up around edges and try and regrow but can't go thru which is why if you bang an area near a scar sometimes you get a shock or an be sensitive. TY thanks for info
  20. NJ fills the stadium, nice place good graphics and entertainment, priced about same as Sabres games.
  21. No Tats, but two nasty scars, one on back of left upper arm, had a big birth marked removed as a kid and one across my chest, had a pectus excavatum as a kid. Was wondering and not sure what, but can ink coverup scars? And how painful is that to do on a scale of 1-10, 10 being most painful?
  22. Man this is going to be a long off season.
  23. Its marketing, sounds cool, new terms add specificity of player usage, like slot receiver, wing back... but media using it is all about marketing their media brand to as others have said sound smart
  24. Fullback now sometimes called H-Back or blocking back depending on use... marketing specificity
  25. Its football and the more the nomenclature changes, the more that cycle of tactic changes repeat themselves.. interesting choice of new names, my guess its more about marketing and not getting stale
