Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
inkman replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
No apology necessary. If this ever actually happens, it will be the most underwhelming nothing hire in league history. -
Whatever the smart thing is to do with him, the Sabres will do the opposite.
-
None of this will happen. It’s fun to talk about I guess. For some folks. Based on what? I’ve heard that dude say exactly six words.

It doesn’t matter. It just doesn’t matter at all. -
Is there a joke that I’m missing

I know the Sabres have reached rock bottom when fans are clamoring for the NHL, easily the worst run pro sports league in North America, to step in and help Buffalo. -
I may have thought that once upon a time but I’m not sure now

Thomas Vanek - President of Facial Expressions Sabretooth had been promoted to team dentist.

A 4 receiver set of Coleman, Palmer, Shakir and Davis sounds nice. Well rounded, each guy has a different skill set. I could see it working. Might make Kincaid redundant.

Eric Staal hired as a special assistant to Kevyn Adams

There aren’t enough emojis for me to use to express my feelings on it. Just outstanding. And super sad statement about the current state of affairs. -
I can’t believe an NHL GM could possibly make such a paltry salary.
-
I would have went with POPO, President of Purse Operations

How many times are you willing to get pounded in the cornhole until you decide you don’t like it anymore?

So no Senior Advisor hire then? -

Paul Hamilton intimated that some key Sabres personnel, like Jason Karmanos, still live in Pittsburgh. I’m kinda speechless at this point. The Sabres don’t require their employees to actually work in the city the team they are contributing to resides in? Ummm… Maybe the Sabres problems run deeper than we all know. -
To everyone clamoring for the Sabres to trade the pick

Every GM values the unknown more than the known. They could draft a star at 9. Rosen will be lucky to be a 3rd line NHL player. -
Eric Staal can’t be the lead offseason move. It just can’t. Have a sense of your fans. We all hate the guy. Just bury the news until after something else has been announced. The org has no pulse on the fans. If Marchand retires, they should bring him in as well. The head of Junk Spearing and Face Licking.
-
Might as well, if Staal was brought in, why stop there. Just hire everyone Sabres fans hate and stick a fork in them. It’ll make the transition to Kraken fandom really easy.
-
Of course they have the Flyers taking Martin. Sigh. The worst case scenario, which means it’s most likely to happen, is that they take the least intense / physical player on the board with Martin still available.

Is it true? Yes. Is it a joke? Debatable. Most teams have a POHO or someone in a role above the GM. I think Adams 100% needs someone above him to make decisions. He clearly sucks at it and if uncle Terry is unwilling to move on, bring in someone with more experience and credibility than Eric Staal. Rick Dudley, Jim Rutherford, whoever just get somebody that has a chance to right the ship. -

Yeah Brady Tkachuk was the apple of many Sabres fans eye a year ago. I think he’s cemented himself as their centerpiece and core player. I doubt any package not involving Tage or Rasmus wouldn’t be good enough for him. As far as who else is available, if I’m KA (I know bear with me here), I’d call every team asking about their grittiest most intense actually good hockey player under 30 and see if some semblance of a deal can get done with Byram/Power, Quinn, Rosen, 9 OA whatever it takes. -
I’m leery of Brady Martin still being there at 9. If I was drafting 5-8, he’d be my target.

The Sabres seem fairly adept at removing all players with an ounce of intensity from their organization. Even when they acquire those types of players, they realize no one in the organization cares so they assimilate like the little borg creatures they are. I don’t have to get punched in the face to make $7 mill a year, sweet, sign me up. The Sabres have created a culture of indifference. No one else cares, so why should I. The last people to realize it are the fans. We care 1000x what any current player, coach or GM does.
