  1. Head coach of younger players in lower leagues 🚫 highly paid veterans at the NHL. My biggest reason for optimism is he's growing with this team and their faith in him and his methods will likely improve.
  2. But you also need the team to be so bad you can take the risks of moving Tage to center, letting the team work on their skills not worrying about defense as they grow, etc. He is the perfect coach for where this team is. I'm optimistic he himself will evolve as the players do, but there's no guarantee.
  3. I think the one needed element he'd provide is physicality without a loss of scoring touch. I can't remember a game where the Sabres outhit an opponent. It's the kind of grit required when the team eventually makes them playoffs. But to your point, a 3/4 RHD is perhaps a bigger need.
  4. No apparent updates here but AHL.com says we won 3-2.
  5. 5 of 6 points after that painful losing streak. I'll take it.
  6. 2 tonight and for the year.
  7. I used to listen to him back in the eighties when the Amerks were an AHL powerhouse (yah, he's been there that long!) and never thought he was much more than mediocre. Especially after listening to RJ.
  8. Toronto announcer said that Nylander is -16. That's crazy on a team like the Laffs.
  9. As a color scientist by profession, I approve of the color and design of the jersey on top and while I like the understated hues on the icethetics version on the bottom, there's a serious "O Brother where art thou" prison vibe there ...
  10. Wait, the former Secretary General of the United Nations is now playing for the Amerks? Never mind. That was Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Honest mistake. My bad. That guy was a horrible skater anyway.
  11. Other than the fact that the Bills have a better rushing offense and defense than the Pats, you might be right. We might lose but it'll be more for to turnovers or coaching than anything else.
  12. Now Youngblood is the best but you haven't lived till you've seen MVP.
  13. Well, you're not wrong. There's gonna be a lot of bright flashing lights behind our goalies this season. They can't help but stare.
  14. I haven't parsed through many of the latest replies on Covid spread so I apologize if I'm not directly responding to anyone's specific question. But I did find an interesting article yesterday on the efficacy of the vaccines with respect to Covid. Reading this implies we will need boosters every 6-12 months for the foreseeable future. The delta variant makes the vaccine about 2/3 as effective as the original strain. Additionally, vaccinated people are 5x less likely to get infected and 30x less likely to be hospitalized. https://www.livescience.com/covid-19-vaccine-effectiveness-delta-cdc.html
  15. It's possible. But are we setting up our new core for another round of learning to lose and be gobsmacked by everybody in the meantime? A better than average goalie does still steal you wins as you build up a foundation. We're still probably the worst team in the league but I'd rather not destroy another new core by making every game hopeless with the worst goaltending in the league to boot.
  16. You missed "sending Sabres fans to 6th circle of hell" 7/28/21 (only 3 more to go?)
  17. That should get us to the cap floor. Oh wait ...
  18. We're gonna collect all the picks and all the cap dumps. Then you'll see.
  19. You know what's crazy? It doesn't seem that long ago when we were heralding the Pegulas as saviors ... passionate fans who wanted nothing more than to bring a championship to the city. I think they've basically just given up on the Sabres. I'm glad I'm a Bills fan so I can just pretend these other Pegulas don't exist. In the NFL world, they're ideal owners. Hiring the best, beefing up their scouts, building the newest training facilities.
  20. Even if ... there's the small matter of goalies that might disrupt this dream.
