  1. I was saying over the summer that on paper this looks like a wildcard team. You can factor in all of the new-ness-ness of the team's situation and call that a negative, which I think is fair. That seemed to be part of the "they're not a playoff team" reasoning, anyway. That and the fact that it would take an enormous point leap from the prior two seasons. The latter argument didn't and doesn't sit well with me simply because of all of the new parts on the roster and surrounding it. How can the prior years' numbers reflect anything about the current team? They can't, simply. There is no reliable predicting number you can hang your hat on because of the significant changes to the hockey departments. So, other than looking at them on paper, and subtracting for new-ness-ness, which, again, is fair, you have to factor in coaching. I think no one could have predicted the effect Bylsma would have, but I'm loving his influence on this team and I believe whatever he's doing is negating the negative effect of new-ness-ness, putting us squarely on track for a wild card spot.
  2. I didn't see this mentioned, and maybe it was, but that was, by far, Eichel's best game this year so far.
  3. What did Milbury say? Something like not necessarily the second best in the draft? Close to that?
  4. Yeah, buddy, let someone else lose at home in a pathetic fashion for once.
  5. TB is pouring it on.
  6. Haha! Johnson didn't touch that puck at all. That must be the strategy.
  7. WTH was that defensive strategy?
  8. Wow, Foligno gets an easy one.
  9. DDB has their PP looking a lot more solid this year.
  10. TB is trying pretty hard. They're frustrated.
  11. I hope Eichel didn't try the wrap-around because he wanted someone else to score.
  12. Considering, we should be glad it's not a penalty shot.
  13. Now Eichel just needs to get in a fight.
  14. I was going to bring up a similar sentiment but didn't want to jinx it. It's only the beginning of the second period, after all.
  15. At least Eichel is getting the appropriate loving by the NBC crew.
  16. McGinn was a steal. Really like the guy for his role.
  17. Just when you think their PP was limp.
  18. Wow. So nice, in a superficial way, to be looking forward to Sabres games this year. Existentially, it's pathetic, but superficially it's great.
  19. WTF happened to the guy, seriously.
  20. I grew up watching Bond flicks, mainly the Moore era. Then the movies just got worse, especially after you see the Connery ones. I thought Craig put the franchise back on the right track, but agree Bond needs to have a certain charisma. IMHO, Connery is still the Bond to beat; he could do drama and action, then lighten it up and make it all look natural. Whoever they pick for the next Bond needs to be able to do that.
  21. I think the comparison to Miller stops at the ice's edge. The butterfly style combined with the acrobatics and aggressive crease-breaching pretty much defines Miller's game and Ullmark has a similar combination going on. The interviews, so far, with Ullmark show us a dude who is definitely not Ryan Miller. Indeed, I'd say MODO's characterization is pretty spot on from what I've seen, at least.
  22. Well, there's your problem: your house was designed by M.C. Escher.
  23. Twitter cred? Me? You have the wrong guy for that.
  24. Welcome MODO. There's something about Ullmark I like, despite my criticisms of his current form. He's got hockey charisma for sure. Your post verifies this in a way: not every European player has a fan follow him with such enthusiasm.
  25. but can he dangle?
