  1. A discussion about great guitarists? Best ever? Or one of the best? Cannot be qualified. Ever. We often confuse innovative with better. Jimi Hendrix was innovative as well as being a great guitarist, obviously. But IMHO, he was only the second best guitarist the Isley Brothers ever had. I could go on but for my money the greatest guitarist I ever saw was Andre Segovia. I still don't know how he was able to do what he did with those short, fat sausages he had for fingers. Amazing. And I think he would have played Hendrix far, far easier than Hendrix would have played Segovia.
  2. The economy? What's wrong with the economy? The stock market, along with corporate profits, are nearly at an all time high. I'm being rhetorical.
  3. On the contrary, it says you are willing to pay what it takes to land a player you highly value to get him to play in one of the league's lower-profile cities. Buffalo has to overpay in order to compete with other markets. That's a fact. And it says a lot when they publicly display their intent to do so. GO BILLS!!!
  4. 25 prosecutions in the 70s? 25? In elections 40 years ago? Rampant, I tell you. Rampant! Hmm. The term numerous strikes me. In the preceding paragraph he was able to provide a definate number, 25. Is numerous more or less than 25? I'm glad he was able to cite this case. Another example of a problem with absentee ballots. But the system got it right and Stinson's victory was overturned so voter fraud did nothing to secure a bogus outcome. I'm curious as to why it took the great politicians of PA 19 years implement changes to prevent this from happening again in a state senate election. I would think that Hans von Spakovsky, as a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, would be able to provide a much more convincing case if he were able to find one. I was hoping he could cite an example of a presidential election in PA. But if that's all he can come up with as a Heritage Foundation fellow, there's just not much there, there. I wonder what the Heritage Foundation's position is on the state of Texas seeking to repeal the Voting Rights Act of 1965. From PA to Texas, from Ohio to Florida, there is a systematic effort being conducted to hinder as large a voting block as possible. There's a Woody Guthrie song in there somewhere.
  5. Oh for crying out fu*king loud, WHEN DID VOTER FRAUD EVER COME CLOSE TO SWINGING THE STATE OF PA ONE WAY OR THE OTHER IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? Clearly and without any proof to the contrary, this was a solution looking for a problem. That is if you think for one minute that the problem is and always has been voter fraud in PA. There was a problem that needed fixing in PA all right. And Turzai summed it up nicely.
  6. I think this is far closer to the reality. GO SABRES!!!
  7. And it's not like Israel hasn't launched strikes against the nuclear capabilities of other countries in the region like they did against Iraq in 1980. They may want our blessing to attack Iran but they don't need our help. Their military is highly capable. And there isn't another military in the region that poses any credible threat.
  8. Can a three game stretch count as a "moment?" Because that three game stretch in Anaheim, San Jose, and Vancouver after the trade deadline was really fantastic. Particularly the GDTs with people sacrificing sleep to stay up late to watch three really intense games. Miller standing on his head, grit, and just plain old hangin' on at the end was great. GO SABRES!!!
  9. Same here. Although I've never declared a party affiliation, I've voted both parties over the years depending on the issues and at what level (local, state, national). I can no longer support ANY republican candidate in good conscience given the blatant bullsh*t in their efforts to silence the will of voters in so many states in the country. We should all be pissed because ALL of our votes have the potential to be co-opted if they are allowed to make it up as they go. Shameful.
  10. No. It's a state issue only.
  11. Let me see if I have this right. In 2004 the state of Ohio has problems with long lines at polls. So, in 2008, in response to this and wanting each of their citizens to have as good a chance as possible to exercize their right to vote, in 2008 they allowed longer voting hours to accomodate the voting masses. By all accounts, it went far better than in 2004. Way to go Ohio. So what do they do in 2012? They revert back to the old system and sumarily disallow expanded voting hours. I wonder why. These p*ssies are shameless.
  12. That's why it doesn't matter to me one way or the other how these idiots try to split hairs over the issue of rape, forcible or statutory. It's a ridiculous argument no matter how they try to couch it.
  13. Statutory rape only pertains to the age of the victim. The idea being that minors aren't able to make informed decisions and those laws exist to protect that lack of maturity. Some statutory rapes may indeed also be forced. To me it's splitting hairs no matter how you slice it. And I never got the impression you were defending it. I appreciate your trying to shed some light and better inform me on the issue.
  14. The issue is unwanted pregnancy as a result of ANY rape, regardless. But it doesn't surprise me one bit that these idiots would seek to split hairs over the terms. It ain't their boys usually. Way more often than not, it's the boy of someone else.
  15. Wow...just, wow. Just as bad is the correction he made from "legitimate rape" to "forcible rape." As if there is any other kind? That really isn't surprising. Guys like Akin have always cared far more for the in utero fetus than the a baby after birth. Let alone a toddler, young child, adolescent, and adult person.
  16. Shocked, but not surprised really. It looks as though he was having problems making the transition to 43 DE. There have been reports that he wasn't winning his share of one on one battles in camp. And he's certainly been mediocre in the scrimmages. More than anything, Kyle Moore has impressed and it may just make more sense to invest in the younger player with higher ceiling at this point. I hope Merriman can catch on with another team. It will probably have to be a 34 team but who knows. I think waiving him now gives him a better chance to catch on. I wish him luck. GO BILLS!!!
  17. That's refreshingly honest. I've voted both tickets on all levels for as long as I've been voting. Depends entirely on the issues I feel most important and who I think best able to address them. I just don't understand why those republican machines in various states like PA, don't spend more time on converting hearts and minds in those districts where they don't get as many votes as opposed to trying to marginalize them instead.
  18. Didn't the honorable Mike Turzai, State Representative of the State of Pennsylvania, remove all doubts as to the motives for getting this law on the books in PA? If he would have kept his mouth shut, there would at least be a doubt. But, like Twain said, he opened his mouth and removed all doubt. That said, it's incumbant upon anyone concerned about disenfranchisement, to step up the efforts to assist those who need this new ID. It's not impossible, just a bit arduous. And those who passed this law with the idea that the sanctity of the voting process needs protecting, should be leading the charge to do just that. But somehow I don't think we'll be seeing Tarzai and Co. taking the lead on this.
  19. Hey, did the Bills win the SB?
  20. Absolutely. These wonderful vanguards of voting in PA should be doing everything in their power to ensure that those legally able to vote, can. Not the other way around. But they are a bunch of hypocritical p*ssies too afraid of hearing the voices they don't want to hear. So they had to stifle those voices. I just wish people would spare me the sanctimonious bullsh*t about why the ID law was enacted. At least Tarzai didn't hide behind it.
  21. There is nothing peculiar about it at all. PA voted democratic in the last two presidential elections. That had to be fixed. Mike Turzai and the rest of the gutless wonders too afraid of the will of the people saw to it. I'll give him credit for not hiding behind this bullsh*t idea of protecting us from voter fraud. He came right out and admitted why they did it. That's more than I can say for his fellow gutless wonders.
  22. That is an excellent point. GO SABRES!!!
  23. Outstanding list. I'd be quite content have nothing more than these on my deserted island. Oh, and a DVD player. And electricity.
