My post had nothing to do with Lindy, but I agree entirely. I was fine with the first two periods, but going Alamo mode in a preseason game when you need to evaluate these kids made no sense to me.

Meh. Color me unimpressed. And I don't understand actively coaching Alamo mode when the idea is to get a good look at these kids.

While Benson was tracking the puck, he simultaneously takes a quick glance at Cozens and has already made up his mind that's where he gonna go with the puck. He saw the play before it happened and as Rob commented, "he had a plan the entire time." He put right on Cozens's stick. No way was that pass intended for anyone else.

Been a while since I've seen a better play than the one Benson made on the Cozens goal. Just a perfect display of high hockey IQ and skill.

I appreciate the edification because no part of Poltapov's stick appeared to make contact with the opponent.

It’s worth noting that before he was the LBs coach, he worked extensively with the secondary with a strong focus on the safety position. All the DBs have spoken highly of him, especially Hyde and Poyer, who attribute much of their success to Babich. He learned at the feet of his dad, a long time defensive coach with in the league, and has a solid understanding of the game. It’s his time and I’m not surprised McD gave him the reins.

I suspect Levi will be spending most of this season with the Amerks playing 45 games, give or take, so he won’t have an impact on the Sabres one way or the other. And given the additions to the roster this offseason, I doubt any prospect will have an impact this season. Barring injury of course.

Dorian Williams started two games last season and looked lost in both. And even with the LB injuries that decimated our defense vs KC in the playoffs, he could only be trusted to play six snaps in the game. A great athlete but is too often clueless on the field. He is easily fooled by play fakes and doesn’t understand angles. And if that long pass to Kmet last Saturday is any indication, he is still a major liability in pass defense and that is an essential requirement for LBs in McD’s defense. I hope he catches on quickly, otherwise he won’t be starting for long.

But recent SCOTUS decisions have paved the way for their power grab; especially the Citizens United, immunity, and bribery decisions. Those decisions coupled with their 2013 decision to roll back voting rights protections have made it more difficult to keep them from gaining power.
