Just to be clear, this isn't about whether or not voters were racists. It's about Trump's blatant racist, bigoted rhetoric for the last year and a half not being a factor in favor of those "other issues" you alluded to earlier. It's an interesting phenomenon. We know that racism/bigotry is "getting old" for you; it's one of your go to rants. But your denial doesn't make it any less "old" for the millions of people affected by it on a day to day basis. You may want to plug your ears and shield your eyes because I suspect it's going to keep coming to a head in this country, especially now.
-
It's not hard to accept. It's hard to EXPLAIN. And I'm curious about how far we are willing to overlook things in favor of more important "issues." Racist, bigoted, sexually abusing pu$$y grabbing misogynist is OK in favor of lower taxes. What's next on that sliding scale before we are offended enough? Is child molester OK in favor of better immigration control? How about ax murderer in favor of destroying ISIS?
-
Well that sucks. I'm taking my son to the Flames game next week and was hoping to see him.
-
I'll be more specific; I'm amazed that so many Trump voters were willing to give him a pass on his bigotry and racism. He was the only one running for the office spewing that crap so that specific character flaw is his and his alone.
-
Did his campaign rhetoric and the base appeals within it suggest anything else? I'm surprised by the unanimity of view that just tosses aside his words as mere campaigning. If he ISN'T what he appeared to be the last year and a half, then he is the biggest bullschitter to have ever run for the office, by a wide margin. On either front, his character comes up short. I'm also amazed at how those who voted for him think that's just fine. EDIT: And I'm plenty tolerant of the Amish. I'm just trying to save you the trouble of him telling you the same thing I did.
-
Such a small percentage of Amish ever vote and when they do it's usually over a local land use issue. They willfully choose to exempt themselves from the material kingdom and its political processes. Perhaps it would be better to forward that email to a group that cares about our politics and has actually had their rights pissed on by the federal government.
-
You forgot a scary Pence moment; the one where he sought to "redefine" rape so as to try to limit federal funds available for abortions. He is an evangelical nut job of the highest order. One heart beat away.
-
That's true. But it's not irrelevant in how it informs.

We tend to live in the anti-verse when it comes to propaganda. There can be no positive connotation to any word used to describe the opposing party. None. And it's the height of insecurity. Progressive ideas are better than regressive ideas, period. Whether a "liberal" or "conservative" offers them up really doesn't matter. And it is the democratic party, no matter how hard the those in the republic party try to marginalize the term.
-
How about UB and Regent University? Or Princeton and Liberty College? There's the free exchange of ideas in class discussion and then there's the actual, you know, indoctrination. The difference should be readily apparent to anyone.

I pray Trump embraces his advice. I'm skeptical though as Trump and Manafort have deep ties to the Russian oligarchy.

But wait, he's a conservative educated at Harvard. How can that be? Why, I read right here in these very parts that Harvard and colleges all over the land do nothing but indoctrinate liberals and turn them loose on society in general and the media in particular.
-
Opinions, no. Facts, yes. Then again, who needs research when we have Rush to tell us like it is.
-
I'm sorry. I didn't realize your opinions on liberal indoctrination at colleges and liberal influence in the media really were based on years of research, data compilation, and analysis. EDIT: and I absolutely voted for Hillary Clinton, although I'm not sure my absentee ballot was counted yet. She was the best option for this country at the time. Also not sure what that has to do with anything regarding the discussion of liberal influence in colleges and the media. Oh, that was YOUR snark at work. Got it.
-
I'm sure it was years of research, data compilation, and analysis.
-
Thank God, ironically, for that.

I get your point about winning in the big ones; it's a measuring stick, especially for QBs. But Romo is a far better QB than Fergy ever was. Sorry, eleven.

If Samson keeps struggling at C, I might have to do a coke line.
-
I'd like to believe that about the CRO line, but I think it will be more confirmation that Samson is not ready to be an NHL centerman.

This is a gold mine of pertinent information. Thanks for linking this.

I see what you did there. We're gonna get to watch three pretty good hockey teams this week.

Well, that's the worry; nations not sticking together. Those democratic nations are undergoing shifts in their political leanings. And I wonder, REALLY wonder, if our current populations around the world REALLY appreciate the gravity of what happened in Europe back in the 1930s. The rise of fascism back then was the result of a strong shift to far right-wing ideology among other factors, like harsh economic conditions, etc. It's not just a coincidence. These people feel a fresh sense of empowerment. The incident involving the African-American veteran who had his meal taken away at Chilis is a disgusting example. At least Chilis fired the manager involved. They should bar the customer that ignited the whole thing as well. That's also the problem with ensuring that NATO remains intact. No single country has the authority to void the pact. The point is that alt right politicians in other NATO countries have voiced similar ideas about NATO as well. For anyone to say it could never happen is irresponsible at best. I know what Russia's leadership would like to see. What percentage of people, particularly the younger demographic, get their news from social media? What percentage of news on social media is false? What is the political ideology of those who post the higher percentage of false news? Hypothetical for you: How many attacks on member countries has the NATO alliance prevented? Pence is one heart beat away. How's that make you feel?
-
What labels? Did Trump say those things during his campaign or not? Trump EARNED that criticism. Bannon EARNED that criticism. Words have consequences. What you have a need to call "labels" are DESCRIPTIVE given what Trump and Bannon offered up to be described. But as I said, it's a hard thing to accept psychologically so I'm not surprised by your level of rationalization. I think everyone is tired of labels. But please stop acting like you and other conservatives of your ilk don't engage in the same type of bullschit.
-
I'm sure Putin is very happy as Russia has openly supported alt right political leaders in Europe as well as here. If these wingnuts take hold in big numbers, we can kiss NATO goodbye. And if we think the world is a dangerous place now, it will look like a church social if NATO dissolves.
