I’m worried you may be right about and I agree with your original post. Larsson is the kind of guy that good teams keep and I think he will be even better on a team with a true 2C.
-
I actually had a Dudley 17 jersey. I’m sure there is a lot of “lore” as to why he left but I know Punch regretted not keeping him. He was a lot like Dumont in that he brought more to the team then numbers.
-
I know one of the other ones but not sure how to do the spoiler thing.
-
Larry Hillman Tim Horton Lee Fogolin Tracey Pratt Jerry Korab Reggie Flemming Brian Spenser I’m sure th year had a few hits lost in a time where TV stations taped over other games not understanding that any of us would want to seen them again.
-
I think he might be. He is presently considered one of top free agents available. He’s had a couple good years in KHL.

OMG, a VO-Strome-Sam line would get lit up against a team like Colorado. They might be the slowest line in the league. Someone brought up Grigirenko. You could get him for nothing and I think he’d be a better acquisition.

The Curious Case Of the 1993-1994 Buffalo Sabres
tom webster replied to Palm Trees And Taxes's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t know, a 29 year old Gil Perreault, Danny Gare scoring 56, Rick Martin 44, Luce and Ramsey, a youth infusion with Ric Seiling, McKegney and Derek Smith, Edwards and Sauve. A defense core that added Mike Ramsay after the Olympics. The 79/80 team was third in goals and first in goals against and easily won the first two series. If only the Islanders waited another year to start their dynasty. -
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am alive and well. Unfortunately, one of the little known pieces of the early years of this franchise has passed. RIP.

The cap might remain flat but no way it goes down $12 million even if revenues reflect that.

Like I said in the past, I’d really like them to concentrate on speed but if they can’t come up with a better option......

The Curious Case Of the 1993-1994 Buffalo Sabres
tom webster replied to Palm Trees And Taxes's topic in The Aud Club
That team was great but Scotty Bowman will tell you that 1979/1980 team was best ever. Legend has it that he traded Rick Martin in large part because of his performance against the Islanders. -
FYI, John Wawrow reported on this as well. Say what you want about him but he usually is conservative and connected.
-
It might be 50th on a list of 20 but it’s been discussed. I think as a no fan option but not sure.

I’m surprised no one has brought up the whispers that Buffalo, with its extra two rinks and hotel connected are one of long shot sights to host multiple playoff games.

Report: NHL to potentially return in North Dakota in August

Every sport is trying to figure a way out. -
A) I didn’t say anything about sports economics. He is a member of the World Economic Forum. He has a world class reputation when it comes to motivation and leadership techniques. B) None of it means that he’s a good hockey coach and that was not my point. My point was that with his background, there is no way he doesn’t know what analytics are out there. He may choose not to believe him, or have his own opinion, but he has read it all. C) The team is not a mess and has shown more discipline and mental toughness under him. It’s poorly constructed and, in my opinion, that makes it tough to judge his work.

Sorry, I shouldn’t have taken you for someone who wanted to learn something.

I’m not good at posting articles. You’ll have to do your own research but it’s fairly well known.

As I said before, I believe Botterill has failed miserably. Where we differ is the question of how far off they are. I believe that a true 2C makes a world of difference and changes the rating of the rest of the forwards. I will add that Frolic was a complete disaster and made little sense.
-
Better but still not enough with regards to “in game strategy” but they’ve made a decent commitment in team building and planning. Just because someone makes decisions that we don’t agree with doesn’t mean they aren’t using all the knowledge at their disposal. RK is probably one if the most brilliant minds in sports and is an economics genius. We might not agree with what he chooses to believe but to think that he doesn’t know the numbers inside and out is naive or arrogant. I respect you and your opinions and hockey knowledge but I don’t know enough about you to judge your mindset.
-
I may be wrong but I believe I was the only one who used the term irrelevant.
-
A) I didn’t call facts irrelevant. I called comparing eras irrelevant B) nobody who has been paying attention would call me a Botterill apologist C) my point all along has been if he acquired JT Miller instead of Johansson, no one would talk about lack of depth. D) we are in complete agreement with regard to last sentence
-
Obviously impressive research but all irrelevant. Analytics has changed the game and especially the way coaches deploy their players leaving a completely different spread of production. On top of that is the fact that similar to how Diggs changes the Bills’ receiver core from below average to above average, a legit 2C changes the Sabre’s depth dramatically, assuming that said 2C impacts Skinner’s production.

This is exactly right and why the numbers just don’t add up. All the “doomsday” scenarios font account for these facts. I am not trying to downplay the virus but the actual death rates won’t come close to the millions projected. And I have another question. I know that New York City has some issues on their hands but as far as Erie County is concerned, how are 260 cases and maybe 40 hospitalizations causing chaos in our hospitals? The numbers don’t match the rhetoric. Thats all.
-
When sports analytics is wrong, they call them outliers. When health analytics is wrong, they say see, our draconian response saved us. Unless everyone just stops taking any precautions, the death totals aren’t going to come anywhere near worst case scenarios,
