  1. My problem isn’t the thought itself, my problem is with the actual player. There have to be better options then a guy on an AHL contract. Listen, I’m a fan, a season ticket holder and someone who desperately wants to care again. This just smacks too much of a guy who has no clue what to do(JNOT) and he’s throwing the fans a bone.
  2. Exactly how will second line scoring continue to get better? And great idea with our pitiful penalty kill, bring in a player that will undoubtably take a dumb penalty or two. Just take an unbiased look at this division. The forward talent is nowhere near where Boston, Florida and Toronto are. Only having Eichel puts them above Montreal. I want to state for the record, I value grit and toughness. I just want it in players that actually can help you make the playoffs.
  3. How is being 17th in 5X5 not their biggest problem, especially when you consider the inordinate percentage of that is Eichel? Guess what? If they were top ten they probably would be in a solid playoff position and wouldn’t have to call up a mercenary to hide the fact their GM is so spineless he can’t make a deal!
  4. They added a guy that anyone in the league could have had and didn’t want. So now, apparently, two guys that no one else wanted, Lazar and Smith are going to save their season from their GM’s ineptitude! I may lay $1K on Tampa winning 6-1 tonight with Buffalo winning a fight and some fans will apparently be happy.
  5. As has been said above, the NFL wouldn’t allow it.
  6. Have you watched the Sabre’s? They are losing because they can’t score. All the other crap is window dressing. The Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups skating around teams that tried to take liberties on them. There are many ways to construct your bottom six and guys like this guy gave a place as long as they can skate, but none of it matters if you don’t have a number two center and can score.
  7. Thank you.
  8. For me toughness is going to the front of the net without having an exit strategy already in your head. All the fighting stuff is crap and as much as I enjoy a good fight, it does nothing to help you win. Score more goals. To me this screams of appeasement. All those fans that want a return to Ted Nolan days here’s your guy. We might plummet even further in the standings but we will go down fighting.
  9. You’ve brought this up quite a bit and I, for one, believe it. My take, however, is this is another example of what happens when you bring in a weak, inexperienced general manager. A veteran guy tells Terry, look, you can save $7.5 million now, but you will lose it when your fans stop coming because this will set you back another two years.
  10. Ah, I wasn’t referring to Eichel. I think he was a great choice. And there is a difference between true toughness and manufactured toughness. If they need a career minor leaguer to provide backbone......
  11. It was actually a typo and then as I was about to correct it, I decided it fit.
  12. If they brought this guy up to fight their battles this team is more pathetic then I thought. It would be like naming a newcomer captain, oh wait....,, Dalton Smith will be JNOT jumping the shark.
  13. So sweetou is Mike Harrington?
  14. I know at one time he talked of coming home at the end and expressed concern if he still could during his last legal entanglement. I also have heard rumblings of him and Eichel not getting along. That being said, hell yeah, when Chicago is ready to deal him for a reasonable package, he is one of those unique players who will continue to excel into his late thirties.
  15. You should print, frame and send this to Galchenyuk’s agent. It may be the only time someone ever referred to him as an “energy” guy.
  16. Read four scouting reports only one qualifies it by adding “for his size.”
  17. It’s funny, the only place I’ve ever heard any concerns about his skating is here. Granted, I’m not into all the analysis of draft picks that some are but the four people whose opinion I trust all list his skating as above average.
  18. Yeah, I didn’t mean it as a shot at you but I’m way past accepting anything but wins and I can’t believe this GM still has a job. He has constructed a terrible team and after three years their impact forwards are all Tim Murray guys except Skinner.
  19. Actually several teams are playing 7 defenseman and playing their top players more. Of course you need some depth to pull it off.
  20. And that’s the crap that JBOT and RK keep telling themselves. Last year he didn’t make a move because he believed the team wasn’t good enough. This year he keeps talking about how much he likes this group.
  21. Hysterical. Team is 10-5, had the ball and were driving in four of the losses, three with Allen in the game but let’s focus on the second year quarterback’s limitations. Of course he has limitations, he’s a work in progress.
  22. There are a couple hotels in West a Seneca on Slade that are fairly close but like everyone said, not much in OP. You could crash the RV lot.
  23. So, the two players picked right before Casey, one just left the Rangers, one scoring at about same rate. Again, maybe that year just sucked.
  24. You have to put it into context though. It’s early, but there are few players from Casey’s year lighting it up. Sometimes it’s just luck. Some drafts, like Jack’s are too good and your competition gets better As well. Some drafts you have to be in the top 3 to get anybody. I would love to go back and see how many late season, meaningless wins were the difference between drafting one player over the other.
  25. Some guys just don’t pan out. We have no idea if it’s coaching, scouting or the player. And just to be clear, I’m not writing him off just yet
