  1. I’m excited that you are excited about this guy. If the big three becomes the big five(I am including Johnson) it will go a long way to prolonged success through 2030)
  2. Skinner is more likely to be bought out near the end of his deal Eventually they will trade future number ones for some Goodrow/Hagel/Colton types. When they are an actual contender, they can add a Maroon/Perry type at veteran minimum Some of the prospects will plateau out and become expansion feed
  3. If you watch the embedded show, Adams even jokes that they will be accused of leaning toward smaller players. They draft highly competitive, talented players. Size is overrated anyway, almost as much as hits. Besides, Ray, Barnaby and May aren’t exactly big guys either. Again, hits are so overrated.
  4. The cap will be $100M before Rasmus’ contract is up. The smart guys should follow Matthew’s ’ example and go short term. The problem is there agents have dual motives and are pushing for long term deals which should ultimately benefit the Sabres.
  5. It’s been two months and I still believe the deal was done around June 30th. Did something thing change, maybe. I guess we will find out what they want us to know when they release some embedded episode.
  6. The fact is that very few really know anything. You make assumptions because this guy knows the person that does the background check or that guy knows the lawyer reviewing the contracts or your friend knows the doctor scheduled for the physical. The only certainty is that these things don’t take months if dialogue. Contracts get done in less than an hour when free agency begans. It’s all just posturing and sound bites to feed the masses.
  7. I’ll admit I was wrong when it turns out I was wrong but the next time Andrew Peters is right about anything Sabre related will be the first time.
  8. So you are choosing to believe those who support your narrative as opposed to those who don’t. Cool.
  9. This is why the notion that these teams lose money laughable. Some make more than others, maybe even a lot more, but none of them are actually losing anything.
  10. A) I haven’t bothered reading the whole thread so I’m sorry if any of this has been beaten to death B) This isn’t really a novel idea. Other franchises have done it for years. C) Even during the first years, the crowd was mixed for any “original six” game as most season ticket holders were fans of those teams before Buffalo had a team. It got a lot more intense when Montreal or Toronto came to town because the fans of those teams could get pretty nasty with each other. D) This may have crossed TPEGS desk, but it definitely didn’t originate with him. I’m not sure he even knew it was possible. E) The crowds in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 weren’t much different. In fact, because those tickets cost me only $39 back then, I would sell all the Montreal and Toronto tickets and paid for almost my entire season.
  11. It was done two months ago. Just waiting for TPEGS to become President and sign off on it and to announce it just as single game seats went on sale😎
  12. Despite my disappointment with lack of goalie upgrade, I still believe Buffalo is the better team and will make a playoff push.
  13. I’m pretty sure Martin wore 7 first and then him, Robert and Norm Gratton like to switch occasionally
  14. People forget he was so homesick he briefly thought of retiring in his first or second year.
  15. I thought he did reconnect after Pegula bought the team before fading away. He always did prefer staying close to home so maybe that’s all it is. Like I said, I’ve always stayed away from the things that I consider private matters.
  16. I’ve shied away from this subject but it seems Gilbert has been distanced from the franchise for last couple years.
  17. FWIW, I still stand by the belief that this is done. They have no reason to announce till all parties want to. I’m surprised it hasn’t been announced yet but I can understand, as well, that there is an optimum time to make the announcement. I am glad that it has given some of you reason to post. It’s all about the traffic, right Scott?
  18. I’m not sure if you are calling Tatar “soft as a puppy,” but he’s not. He has a little bit of bite to his game and is sound defensively besides being a pretty good scoring winger. I like Rousek and see him contributing but Tater is a pretty big upgrade.
  19. In case you include me with those who think he can be easily traded, I understand how good he and Rosen could end up being which is why I compared trading them to Dallas sacrificing Iginla in their pursuit of the Cup.
  20. Rosen & Östlund. You went from saying two of the top five to one of six and seven.
  21. I don’t think Quinn and Benson are even in the discussion and I do not think it would require 2 of the other 3. I’m not sure it would require any of the five.
  22. All you have to do is read countless stories about how players appreciated when their general manager made that move to put them over the top to understand how frustrated players will be if their season goes south because of lack of upgrade. Not one player that worked their ass off to get to the NHL wants to hear about how it’s all for the greater good.
  23. I think you can include Demko, Saros and Markstrom as guys they got to the outline of an offer stage. It really comes down to one question. At what point do you give away more then you want because you need one piece. I understand the hesitancy to part with a top prospect but is it fair to your team and fans for you to hold onto a guy who might not be a significant contributor for three years rather then acquire that last piece. I’m sure Dallas did not want to give up Iginla but do they win the cup without that trade!
  24. Their internal numbers show that Comrie was actually better. They also confirm that UPL has been in the bottom tier of goaltenders in whatever league he’s been in for most of his career. I understand that some are skeptical and I can’t provide any substantive proof. It also doesn’t mean he can’t beat the odds and prove me wrong. This isn’t an exact science which is one of the main reasons sports can be fun. It’s also one of the worst parts of the internet. When I was wrong before, the only proof was a bunch of drunk and/or high friends and strangers in bars. Now my mistakes are saved for eternity. And yes, it’s exactly why I’m disappointed they haven’t been more aggressive. My concern with Adams is two fold. He seems to be too enamored with his prospects and he did so well waiting out Vegas he thinks he will have the same success acquiring a goaltender.
