In a nod to those who thought Lindy's time had ended in Buffalo, he just said he wasn't the coach he needed to be in 2013. He is talking about the many changes he's made as a coach. "I'm a better coach today." Lindy has made me laugh several times. He's a human. How many turds followed him as coach? Refreshing.

You have watched me and learned well. You gotta get out front of these things. Then never waver. Your day will come.

Solid performance so far. Calling out Mike and Paul was classic Lindy. I love the man.

That would be gross. The players can't know their head coach has one foot in retirement and his replacement is standing next to him.

A man can dream... That the questioners will have a mic and the presser doesn't go like every other... Question: mumble mumble ya know obviously drops out mumble would you agree? Answer: I mean yeah of course.

Just looking at Lindy's staff in NJ: He had Brylin a longtime Devil, but not a young newbie. 50ish and a former AHL associate coach. Chris Taylor, who had a couple of cups of coffee as a Sabre with Lindy and who of course was an AHL head coach. Ryan McGill appears to have no ties to NJ or Lindy and has an extensive head coaching record in the OHL and AHL and is a veteran NHL assistant. Mid 50s. Can we please aim for something at least like this (and even this is on the light side when comparing to top NHL staffs). There's no reason we need to hire up and comer former Sabres who need a job/experience.

Precedent for this sort of thing working out? Legendary coaches returning to the roost and winning.

I need to see how Ruff set up his staffs after he left Buffalo. In Buffalo, whether it was his choice or bc of budgets, he never had assistants with head coaching experience at the pro level. I am going to barf if he fills his staff with inexperienced former Sabres. I'd also like to know what if any assurances he got re: TP's commitment and involvement. Finally Lindy you might as well tell us if you got fired or quit in 2013.

So many things were going right the Sabres were a .500 team down the stretch with every incentive to win... End the drought plus other teams were collapsing. Granato's problems ran deeper than his peeper.

Practice could have been harder but what was stopping the players from practicing harder? The Skinner clip was a beer league level ***** show. Why do we have nine guys on this side and only two over there? Wow. Double wow.

Hope Eleven is OK. And Taro. If I had to guess the season was especially hard for Taro because his expectations were so high. I gave him a hard time about it and shouldn't have. Low hanging fruit and all. That's why my policy is to wait and watch before drawing conclusions. No way am I predicting a breakout season... Or DFL.

Last 10 games is my benchmark. But like I said the Isles were streaky all year.

Speaking of Isles, a bunch of bums with a GM who's too old. The Sabres were going to rip past them too. On Jan. 20 they were slumping but still only two points out. Stinky Pants fired his coach and brought in Pat Roy. They were streaky but enter the playoffs the hottest team in the league. 20-12-5 under Roy.

Dmitri Lugubriev is better than all of them. He is The One.

The players sure seemed to get on the same page for once and throw Donnie under the bus, albeit somewhat subtly. They need a coach with structure who will hold them accountable. Hockey player, heal thyself. Randall has a theory that the message was coordinated from above.
