  1. Read between the lines of the boyfriend post.
  2. In his book, Bob Swados called Rene a "clubhouse lawyer." So his advocacy for the fans during the Quinn years was not surprising. And I'm sure some of the quotes leaked to The Athletic came straight from Robert. His trade to Colorado Bowman's first offseason (Oct. 1979) marked the beginning of the end of the 70s Sabres.
  3. Why? I will when I'm convinced he/she have stopped.
  4. Thanks. OA=Overall is lame.
  5. That's what I was going to say! That's beautiful. People should remember that Terry said, around the time of bringing in LaLa, maybe even at the LaLa presser, that we'll have no "hockey emperors." Another time he said, "There's no monopoly on hockey IQ." It all fits into the case. Terry thinks he should be a player in the process, and thus he is. The issue of meddling is settled. As Judge Aud Horatio Smell has written so eloquently, "It's now only a matter of degree. Now give me the envelope and the dress shields."
  6. He WILL clear this message board.
  7. That IS meddling. Along with everything else @Brawndo occasionally outlines — without your scorn and harassment, by the way. But why? What's it to him? What possible good could come of it? And the bad is obvious — THE owner is affecting the process.
  8. What can I say? The coffee and sugar haven't kicked in yet.
  9. He could be talking about the owners.
  10. I don'f know what it stands for.
  11. Need a little help with 3OA.
  12. Is there any evidence for the bolded? Terry described his oldest daughter as the biggest Sabres fan in town. Are you including her? Or just the so-called Tweety Birds? (Yeah, I've watched that intro presser a few too many times)
  13. I wouldn't sleep on this story. Coupled with the rumor from late winter that the Pegulas were looking for someone to help "run" the team, there's a lot of smoke.
  14. What goes into the spreadsheet though? If it can't be quantified, it didn't happen.
  15. What if drafting isn't the problem? What if it's development, or, more likely IMHO, where a player's head goes when he ends up in Buffalo (The Hall Effect, or so many before him). It's a simple thought experiment to place recent Sabres' draftees in Pittsburgh or Tampa and see where they would be today. If the goal was to save money, it worked. The only failing would be if they calculated that the team wouldn't decline further as a result of the layoffs. And it shouldn't have because the layoffs wouldn't affect this year's team. But maybe it deepened the players' impression that the organization was totally, off the rails dysfunctional.
  16. I have the same reaction when I see fear/trepidation/resistance of and to Terry selling the team. He's Ville Leino in year 11.
  17. I tried to get Swampy to bite on my lure one time, but he doesn't roll that way. We were working on our Sabres song, it was late and we both had had a couple of Zimas. I knew it was time to fish or cut bait. I know. It's a super-important discussion and people are into it. Why would it be pinned? "Hockey trades" needs a space.
  18. "A guy like Jack Eichel..."
  19. Yeah? You think McLean put the rumor out there about someone without the ability to buy them?
  20. So Koules and Torts played together in the ACHL. But I see no evidence they are friends. Quite likely to the contrary.
