  1. And redefine periods. We serve to the 4th period, but the intermissions are considered periods now!
  2. MrsPie is doing a juice fast, and it's working pretty well for her. A week in and she's fitting better into clothes and seeing it on the scales; I'm really proud of her. I have a serving or two per day. I'd be doing it too but frankly, between the two of us and and a toddler it's tough getting through all the prep and juicing and clean-up to keep her supplied. It probably averages 1.5 hours per day, although we try to batch it up so we're not spending every day on it. I drink maybe a pint of juice and I'm not nearly as hungry for dinner. As a part of this, it's fallen on me to "clean out" the fridge of any perishable stuff. Today's menu: - Quiche (pea and broccoli, we had a pie crust and eggs to use up) - Provolone and Tomato Basil Jam on Multigrain (this is actually pretty awesome; I'd love to try on some whole wheat Italian bread) - IPA Jelly in Greek yogurt (there's a local place that makes beer jelly; it's not bad as a novelty. I have a jar of Porter Jelly to use up next) - Handful of blueberries - Some leftover mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrot, cauliflower) - Some smoked cheddar and manchego cheese This evening will be juice and some hippie turkey kielbasa and sauerkraut. I still have eggs I need to figure out, maybe I'll just hard boil them and put them on salad.
  3. 15-4-1. That's the record the Sabres need for the last 20 games to get to 93 points. You can talk about "just 6 points back on Toronto, and Montreal is bad", but that's not promising. The only out is if somehow third place in the division is only something like 87 points (nearly record low, I think). Then the Sabres can go 11-6-3. That number doesn't look much better; it's still 70% points, higher than this "good" streak they've been on and better than any extended stretch this season.
  4. I'm pretty happy with the 0vrevann I have from Vikre (Minnesota based distillery). It's taffel style and not aged, but it's a nice, herbal clean taste. <$40 at a PA Liquor store. I think I had Aalborg years ago; that was a bit harsher and move caraway. I kinda miss the big caraway, but but the pleasantness over the Vikre is more enjoyable. http://vikredistillery.com (please note, I just read the whole wikipedia article which is how I know what taffel style is; I'm not an Aquavit connoisseur).
  5. I think it depends on the area. Philly is a big beer town so when you go somewhere it's a cross-section of people (admittedly white, middle class casual). You can't drive more than a few miles and not run into a brewery; it's just a normal place to have dinner or a beer. Victory is full of normal people and kids almost every time you go. I mean, I wear flannel a lot these days and have a beard... oh crap, I'm a hipster.
  6. Dude, people have been booted from here for those kind of accusations. Unless you have proof, I wouldn't throw that kind of talk around. Anyways, Peters is a moron for losing his cool. The refs and kids need to sort that out, no place for a coach to do that. Shove, punch, or bad breath knocking that kid over, he should be done and it's a bad look for WGR to have him on the radio today.
  7. Only if I decide stop at 0 and not be negative. :( Sample playoff record for the remaining 20 games: 15-4-1.
  8. Big weekend for the countdown. :( I'll update the title shortly.
  9. What kind of "Northeast PA is that? I'm only 320 miles from Buffalo and I live nearly in Delaware! :) Get training now! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akvavit
  10. Tell me his lady's name is Kelly. :)
  11. I went to my 10 year, but missed the 20 year as MrsPie was almost ready to pop with RosePie. Would have been fun to go as most of the people that show up are cool. The people I didn't like don't show up which I take to mean they're having terrible lives and are embarrassed. I should have saved that last part for Fantastic Friday. :)
  12. Probably 6-5, but in a division with the 10-1 Patriots and a couple 8-3 teams currently in the wildcard spots but games against those teams. If the Sabres somehow win out, they'd be at 106 points and in. If they take 3 of 4 points for the rest of the season, they'd have 95 and on the bubble. Anything less than that and nigh well impossible. Presidents Trophy pace for a month and a half. I agree, it's not often 6-5 teams win 3 of 4. If they did, they wouldn't be 6-5.
  13. Pretty much. I take no joy in doing this.
  14. It's the bye week. The Sabres have played 60 games and have 62 points. Using the 93 point mark as a reference for the playoffs, the Sabres need 31 points in 22 games, or put another way, they can only miss out on 13 before the playoffs become incredibly unlikely. I'll bump and update as the games go on.
  15. For those lamenting that the bye week is letting teams get away from us: it wasn't that close anyway.
  16. Thanks. The numbers don't look much better getting to 93 points either, so it's moot. What I'm seeing here is the Sabres can only lose 7 games (or miss out on 14 points) tops for the rest of the season before it's very unlikely they're getting in. That's a pretty steep order.
  17. That being said, changes to increase PP scoring will likely reduce the number of Penalties called.
  18. I'd take one or the other: full two minute penalty or icing rules, including no change, in effect for penalized teams. I think both would be too much. Also, more no-change situations, such as puck out play (perhaps instead of the 2-minute delay of game unless it was deemed intentional), goalie freezing the puck, etc.
  19. Heh, that is awesome. IT reminds me of this, although I don't know this clip's provenance:
  20. Yep, I'm with you, left his feet.
  21. Gomez -> Gionta the Younger (played together in NJ, right?) -> Gionta the Elder is plausible, but it could just be him following Twitter and guessing too.
  22. I think I made one at some point, but I don't remember with who or what it was about. I think it'll be determined at the end of this season (one of those "player X will do Y by the end of next season" deals).
  23. Dude, that sucks. I was talking to a Solar City person at Home Despot the other day and I thought of you, and how the energy policy changes might affect.
  24. Mo' goals, mo' problems.
  25. Sign him for two years. It's unlikely the Bills will be in any big games.
